Server configurations/requirements for EHM online league

What server specifications would you (hosts of runnning online leagues) recommend?

I've read about a third party server, some remote connection software (Hyper-V, vSphere, ...) - but how to set everything up correctly? And which system requirements are needed for EHM 1 in a real online mode? Sure... in the end there should be at least 3-4 people able to connect to the server/EHM and check for problems.
