Unfortunately, my game crashed in the off season so I couldn't reach the new seasons schedule to see if it happened again

I've had the same issues that Realpity reported. Made my way to the NHL after spending a few seasons in Austria and then the WHL.
In my 1st NHL season Vasilevsky and Saros were nominated for the Vezina while neither played a single game (albeit being the best goalie on their respective rosters).

Now my game keeps crashing on July 11th 2029. Is there anything I can try to keep this save alive?

Goalie issue identified and fixed!

TBL (start of season) will be released in the next 24-48 hours.

Pivot (November update) will be released this weekend or next week.

I have some questions about the database. After copying the files and some testing the game showed Utah Yeti and not Utah Hockey Club ingame. I needed to edit the club name with the database editor. Is this suppost to be so? Or did i something wrong? The logos for Utah show up correctly now.

-- I tried to keep European clubs as close to their start of season rosters as possible

- Added a lot more real junior players (through 2010 YOB) globally

International Updates:

- Removed World Cup and Euro Hockey Tour for now until it comes back for real to reduce the amount of international tournaments the game has to worry about and schedule

-- I tried re-using the World Cup by moving it to February to turn it into the "Four Nation Faceoff" but the game will not allow it to use NHLers.

- Loosened date placement to give more flexibility for the game to schedule tournaments, date placement may not align to real life but we need to reduce potential crashing and increase stability long-term.

- Updated injuries, positions and jersey numbers from PuckPedia Depth Charts

- Updated dates of arena moves for Calgary and Ottawa (guess I was way too optimistic!)

I'd due to the IRL German players pre-seeded into the DB, looks like I rolled a bunch way too high, fixed! Thanks for reporting!

General Updates:
- Latest notable transactions for human-playable leagues
- Updated heights/weights for players in playable leagues
- Starting further database cleanup of UFA players/staff, this will take several releases to complete -- thanks ArchibauldUK!

- Prospect Generator Updates: -- all credit to ImActuallyAnOtter and osososos to their research work and dedication to this!
- Near-complete overhaul of the Prospect Generator
GENERAL:
Across the PG, the level of potential ability has been increased to match recent drafts but the quality of players has been much more heavily randomized.
It will be significantly more difficult to find good goaltending due to the added randomization
It will be significantly more difficult to find players that correlate to existing Pivot attributes due to the added randomization
The long-term distribution of current ability will much closer match Pivot 2-4 years into a given save rather than what you see on Pivot day 1.

MENTAL/HIDDEN ATTRIBUTES:
The PG now generates ~50% of its players with random attributes, so they will look like "game regens" as opposed to prospect generated players designed to look like Pivot Day 1 players. The other 50% remain the same as the last issue, but with some minor changes only.
Determination has been lowered by an average of 5-7 points on a 20-point scale across the board.
Consistency and Important Matches have been lowered by 2-4 points on a 20-point scale across the board.
Loyalty, Fighting, Pass Tendency and Versatility are now fully randomized for all players, in addition to injury proneness and natural fitness which have been for some time.
Significant Updates to defensive role and offensive role based on recent research. Expect to see offensive role remain similar and defensive role to drop compared to priors.
Despite increased ability distribution, reduced goalie hiddens/mentals means you should expect average save percentages to drop to the 0.890-0.900 range to match IRL.

VISIBLE ATTRIBUTES:
Goalie Glove and Blocker attributes should be increased at generation
With the ~50% randomization, expect to find far less goalies with balanced attributes

ROLE DISTRIBUTION:
More balanced distribution of player roles
Expect to see some "archetypes" such as "High Physicals", "High Mentals", "PK Specialist", "PP Specialist" and "PIM Gatherer", which are introduced in this version

International Updates:
- Added Euro Hockey Tour and World Cup back in with some fixes. World Cup will go in 2024 with Olympics in 2026, should get a best on best with NHLers international tournament every 2 years.
- Updated WJC-U20 players/staff

NHL Updates:
- NHL Re-rates starting in January, nothing completed yet in this release, looking for help via fan feedback!
- Updates to several 2025/2026 notables

Canadian Updates:
- Updated several clubs/competition names and colors -- thanks Dani9!!
- Changed Junior Preference of CHL league contracted, NHL unsigned players to None from Major Junior. This should allow these players to also have the option of not extending with their junior team and potentially transferring to the NCAA or other College leagues. I have also set all CHL league contracts to 1.2.1900 which should default most to one year to allow these transfers.
-- While there is no guarantee this will work, its a good enough workaround until there is proper game code added to support the CHL -> NCAA transfer rules.
-- Any IRL player that has submitted for a transfer will have their preference set to College as I find them.

Czechia Updates:
- Added/Updates clubs and updated Czech Maxa liga and Czech 2. Liga structures -- thanks Matee!!

Germany:

Hello.

The Finnish Liiga playoffs sometimes carry out over April 30th, meaning relegation playoffs haven't been played yet, causing them to stretch out until May and teams playing them with half a team. Will try to do some start date / schedule modifications myself but I'm wondering, is this something that is overlooked by the creators of the roster, or is something that is not fixable (ie. limited by the game engine)?

Thanks for the report! That May 1st roll over date is a game limitation, I'll take a look at the playoffs and see if we can move them up a day or two. Can you send me a save you have where it rolled over that date?

Thanks for the reply. I'm aware of the hardcoded May 1st date, but was wondering if setting the season to start earlier would cause issues. If not, I think this can be worked around by moving playoffs start ~2 weeks earlier to be safe. I think the playoffs went to game 7 which was on the 30rd - a bit on the edge. Also, the relegation was after the playoffs, don't think it needs to wait for them to finish.

I don't have a save anymore sadly, but I think this can be replicated pretty easily. I'll be doing some more testing myself too, I'll see if I can make it happen again.

I was able to choke up the month of March a bit, moves the entire playoffs up 3 days. I'll run a few sims and see how it goes. I don't have anymore room to work with so I'd have to move the entire schedule back a week or so, similar to what i have to do for the KHL.

Yeah, I used the Olympic break dates to make the schedule a bit tighter. Now should be moved by two weeks. Best option is probably to move the season start a bit earlier all together. I'll try running some simulations as well.

Can they cause such crashes? I would like to have smaller nation's national teams for example to have extra players and staff, so wondering if this is something that has to be done manually instead. I'd really have to see the save for the crash, if its an older version of the DB it might be a specific staff issue we found, which is fixable using the editor on a save.

I also got the relegation to end before 30th by moving the Liiga schedule to start 2 weeks earlier and by making the Mestis schedule a bit tighter towards the end, so playoffs finish before relegation is supposed to start.

I can upload for reference if is needed, but don't think this is a solution that should be put to production.

Pivot 9.4 - January update posted!

Some pretty substantial changes here, please give feedback on them!

General Updates:
- Latest notable transactions and contract extensions for playable leagues
- Implemented new attribute standards based on researcher consensus and applied them database wide except for players over 100 CA and NHL floor PA players. I removed a majority of pre-set attributes, allowing the game to randomize them on start to allow more variation to players based on role. Expect a lot more randomness new game to new game.
-- I am looking for feedback here, good or bad, especially for lower-level league or European focused players!
- Any players with no player-type set have had all attributes set to 0.
- Cleaned up free agent players

Prospect Generator Updates -- thanks ImActuallyAnOtter!!
- In the last release, about 30% players had no physical attributes set. Physical attributes have now been set for all players
- Updated model for anticipation, creativity and decisions implemented as a beta for this issue
- Expect significant changes to be coming to the PG based on Community Poll feedback, these will be included in the next issue

International Updates:
- Updated World Championship top level team count to 16 and Divsion 3 team count to 6 -- thanks filip85!!
- Updated game counts for all stages of WC

Canadian Updates:
- Updated CHL league captains and attendance and processed all trade deadline moves for all three leagues.

Finnish Updates:

How do you use the prospect generator, is it built in to the roster or do I need to run it before I start my game? Also what's the difference between database- no added prospects and database, does this have anything to do with the PG?

It's basically a giant spreadsheet that algorithmically generates players which I add into the DB before i post it, those players do not stay in the master DB. Yes that "no added prospects" DB is basically the pure master DB without the PG sheet, online leagues like having that available for use.

I'm noticing a ton of suspensions for players receiving match penalties since starting a new save. Almost every day there's a player or two around the league that's getting suspended for a game or two because of a match penalty. Anyone else experiencing this?
