LOL! It's for the Mother's List tutorial stuff. You've got to get your relationship up with that person before hugging is an option and they've got to hug you for it to count, I think.

When I've read a skill book and it comes up on my list of skills as zero stars, do I actually have any level of skill in that skill? In other words, is having zero stars in a skill any better than not having the skill at all?

Yeah, I think it's good to have zero stars than to not know the skill at all but a lot of it depends on the skill. There are some skills, like performance skills, that you don't want to try until you've got 3 stars. For example, when I learned stagediving, it was not good to try doing a stagedive in concert until I had at least 3 stars or I was likely to get injured. Then some skills seem to be useful just to have. For example, when we did our video, we all got the book for the acting skill. None of us had any stars in it but just by having the skill we were able to rehearse our parts. I don't have any stars in comedy or photography but I use those skills often.

Did that make any sense?

That makes perfect sense  I understand what you mean: Having zero stars in a skill is better than not having the skill at all, but to perform some actions (such as stage-diving) successfully you need a minimum number of stars in that skill.

Yup, that's it exactly... just in a lot less words! :-D

BTW, speaking of skills with no stars... I suggest buying the basic photography book to learn that skill. Then buy an instant camera and film. Every time you interact with somebody, try to take their picture. If you're successful, you won't be able to try again for a couple days. If you don't catch them, you can try again the next day. Doing this will help you gain experience points to allocate at the end of the week. When we're touring and I do this, I always end up with 3 XP to allocate.

You'd better hitch the road instead of taking the plane ;) It would save both your money and your health

Holydogg - maybe Minstrel could explain Popoclones :-k

How is everyone doing in Popo? It's been a while since anyone has posted about themselves. I've just quit my job as lawyer in New York and have become a lawyer in Paris. My NY job paid $2800 per week (more than enough for me) but my Paris job is paying a whopping $5250 per week :joy: I'd really recommend buying the Basic Law book; you only need to get one star at Law and then you can find yourself a well-paid job.

I've managed to make the jump from performing "mediocre" to "above average" concerts. I'm hoping to get up to "decent" fairly soon because I've just become an expert in Basic Singing (I'm also an expert at the Saxophone). I've got four starts in Lead Vocals and Basic Woodwind Instruments and so they're the next ones that I plan to become an expert in.

Aw nuts! As I type this, I've noticed on my employer's location page that they will fire any employees if they haven't improved their Law skill to five stars within two weeks. Ah well at least I'll earn $10k in the mean time :-D

My character is coming along well. I'm still only playing shows in NYC, but they're getting better and better.

I decided to train up my songwriting and lyrics skills first and then I'm going to turn to my performance related abilites. Getting that law book sounds like a good plan - I could deal with that extra cash!

Happy popo-ing! haha.

Since leaving Never Dies to build Brain-Storm, i skilled Heavy Metal, basic strings instruments and bass guitar to 5*, and moved from 3* to 5* in basic record production.

The band itself is now in place, and we're watching our ticket sales grow as we're getting closer of our starting date of our very first metal tour on june 20th in NY! We actually have a little 10 songs in the repertoire and would need to improve the average quality, but this will come with time, no doubt

The Dead Generation is kicking butt! We've been in the top 100 punk bands for a while now. We've got a luxury 18 wheeler rig full of equipment. We hit # 38 on the radio charts at one point and #26 on the video charts. Just this week we released our 5th single and first full length album. We completed our World Tour requirements a while back. Our summer is pretty well booked as a part of the Hydra Tour.

Personally, Palmer Haskins doesn't much care about his career. He's still a sales person at Punks In The Hall. Most of his time is spent on the road. Recently, Palmer had enough fame to take a stage name, "The Germ". This name goes back to the band's early touring days when Palmer would get one sickness after another. As for skills, Palmer is a master of Electric Guitar, Backup Vocals, Showmanship, Stagediving, Basic Special Effects, Lighting Wizardry, and Yoga (everyone has basic manners). There's also a bunch of other skills with anywhere between 1 and 3 stars in them. Palmer has 58 stars total.

Ahh B72 you're making me feel insignificant with my measly 40 stars  :-D

I'm currently at #150 in the top jazz bands in France. My aim is to, like you, break into the top 100. What fame in the USA does your band have? Minty told me it's best to wait til a band has "decent" fame in a country before releasing a single otherwise it'll fail. Currently I only have "terrible" fame (5/26) in France so it's going to take a long time until I have "decent" fame (10/26) ](*,)

Ah ok! Maybe I'll release a record in the near future, then. I've just bought the Basic Record Production book but I want to get Basic Woodwind Instruments and Lead Vocals up from four stars to five before I start studying Basic Record Production. :-k

With intense scholarship, maybe you could achieve that :) If you're nearly finished, just ask them to wait some days. :dunno: So it's in Paris you can always beg them: "Pitié, pitié monsieur!! J'ai une femme et trois maîtresses à entretenir!" :p:p:p

EDIT: back on your question. I'm doing pretty well, I'm with Shadd character on brain-storm. The waiting was a bit long before doing something, but there's too much too be done before. He's 5* metal, basic string, electric guitar and basic vocal. I'm currently maxing his firebreath!! :D I'm doing some freelance writing for It's pop. Last week I was published in NY, this week I'll be in Toronto edition for sure.

On my poporelationship, J.K. is cheating his Rosemary (one of my pals character) with some easy girl, since she's gone touring for too long. Shame on him. ;) I'm quite friendly with the NYU community, having a lot of feminine pals there.... Well I'm just doing the RockNRoll attitude lifestyle.

And if I remember correctly, you only have to be "dreadful" or better to sell albums in a city.
