Anyway, I hope i won't get busted, how the relationship between the leagues? Are they open? So if I win third league I go to second, and so on? Please say yes

I have to warn you though, Gibson, playing with Nivala Cowboys your arena has only 850 capacity and it's not owned by the team, so you'll have no chance of ever turning it a pro team, because you'll never have enough income to pay professional wages. Arenas that are not owned by the team never get expanded.

Also Nivala is a small town, and this is also simulated in EHM - not enough potential supporters for pro level team.

If you want to make a Suomi-Sarja team into SM-liiga team, you should pick a team that either has a good size ice hall or use the pre-game editor and give arena ownership to the team before starting the game. A good size home town can't hurt either.

An Update on the Stanely Cup winning yotes. Heading into August we've made a few changes to the roster.

Left: Svatos (traded to free up money), Matvichuk (traded due to age/money), Matthew Lombardi (traded to free up money/roster space), Landon Wilson (traded due to age/not needed), Rights to Ville Leino (not needed), Eric Cairns (UFA), Pattrick Fishers (UFA)

Joined: Jonas Ahnelov (UFA, Playing for San Antonio), Klemen Sodrznik (Prospect, Playing for SA), Patrice Cormier (prospect, Training with team before going to play with SA). Keeping with signing Finnish D-men, signed Jyri Marttinen. Jay Pandolfo(UFA), Luke Lagace (Prospect, training with team before going to juniors), Marc Method (From Blue Jackets for 2015 4th rounder), Peter Mueller (from SA), Anton Krysanov (from SA), Logan Stephenson (from SA)

oh and the Average team age is now 26.17 with Jay Pandolfo the oldest at 35. We have 9 foreign players and an average salary of 1.6 million with Niittymaki the highest at 4.9 million and Stephenson the lowest at 500k

So I started all over. I've chosen Vermuntilan Tempo as it's pretty attractive city. I made the arena owned by team. It's so much fun because they had absolutly no players on the staff list. None. Two coaches who sucked all the way to hell and fired them right out, but that's it. I got lucky to sign some really "good" players of all positions. Also coaches are signed, can't wait to start the season. I have done two exhibitons...3-0,5-1 wins, nice sign. Because of the different ranges of their physical attributes, I had to develop three various Fitness practice routines. Now excuse me, gonna continue rolling the game :)

Well to be honest I'm getting a bit bored of playing in America, so I too have moved to Finland, and have taken over a team named Kiekko-Laser formed in 2005, so no real history, and we are in the Suomi Division, and am excited about trying this.

Extreme disappointment for me last night.

I was in the HockeyAllsvenskan promotion playoffs with Örebro, sitting in 2nd place. Our last game ends up being against Rögle, who's one point behind us in 3rd. In order to keep my promotion spot, I needed anything but a loss... and at first it looked good as we went up 1-0 early in the game.

But then we gave up 3, and lost 3-1. Knocking us out of the last promotion spot at the last minute. :-(

Depends on the league. In SM-liiga you're allowed to have four foreigners, can't remember the rules in lower divisions.

Just about to start my 3rd season with the Wild. First season finished 5th in the conference but was knocked out in the first round by Sharks(4-2). Next year I finished 6th and managed to knock out the Blue Jackets (4-3) but then run in to trouble when the Flames with a super hot Iggy took me out 4-0, they later went on to win it all. Still, it have been a lot of fun so far, sure I have made some strange deals but over all I am very happy about the realism of the game since I dont push the AI around to much. I did steal Richards from philly with an offer sheet, but I gave him slightly more money then what he asked for so it atleast cost me some picks. Then I managed to trade for Jack Johnson with Koiuvo and a pick going the other way. Between the 1st and 2nd season I also managed to do one of this off season deals that so often kill the realism of the game. I wanted Chara and got him, but I payed more then what they asked for. I could have had Kim Johnson and Chara as first pair but I sent Kim to Boston in the deal that also so a five star rated forward going to Boston. They where prepared to do the deal for just that prospect. Now atleast they got out of their cap trouble and got something back for it. I got the franchise defender I wanted, him being a Slovak made it even better since he is now the 5th Slovak on the roster.

Anyway, I having lots of fun and I have not signed Forsberg, Heatley, Hossa or any of the other free agents that I could have signed.

Ivan Baranka. Got him from the Rangers and he is developing nicely in to a good shut down defense man.

Radivojevic is very up and down but does a good job over all as a 3rd-4th liner. The rest of the Slovakians leads the team in every single way. =D>

Hi

I'm in my third season with Oilers. I missed playoff in first one, but in second Flames beat me in Stanley Cup finals. All the way through I'm struggling with very unconsistent play my team shows. Actually, I have two concernes:
a) I'm conceding at least 2 goals every game no matter who's in the frame and what is the contender. Past the half season and no shutouts at all.
b) Lines are unbalanced - first two lines are playing good (actually, second line is pure gold) and others (checking line and fourth one) are getting low ratings all the way through. I tried almost every tactic setting to find out the reason behind it but had little luck.

My lines are:

J.Black - O'Marra - Fedorov
Kvasha - Horcoff - Scatchard
Betts - Halpern - Pandolfo
Hunter - Shremp - Weinhandl

Pitkanen - Zubov
Clymer - Jovanovski
Trnka - Cairns

Thibault
Lalime
Budaj

Any advices would be highly appreciated:-)

Alex.

Currently i'm playing with the Florida Panthers and the fourth season is starting soon. Last season we beat Sabres in the playoff, but then lost to the Rangers who went on and won the stanley cup. >_> Our defense is kinda sloppy even with Bouwmeester and Chara in the first line. Well, here is the lines:

Samsonov - Jokinen - Gionta
McArdle - Horton - Olesz
Frolik - Weiss - Stewart

Kontiola is centering the fourth line.

Bouwmeester - Chara
Giordano - Lojek
Eriksson - Niskala
Johansson - Pratt

I'm gonna give Frolik the opportunity to play up this season. Lojek is the second one who is coming from Rochester to play with us.

I really need advice about how to make my defense better.

It's more complex than just one single problem and one single solution. To be honest, I don't know any of guys Giordano, Lojek, Niskala...must be some youngsters? Deffinitly needs a 3rd-4th D, to boost the def power.

Then what settings for backchecking do you use? How many shots average during the game on your goalie? Do you use to get a lot of goals while PK?

Me being you, I play three def lines, mix up the 3rd and 4th lines, invest in some defensive forwards..there are plenty of them...from sutherby through halpern to hollweg.

This should help, but may not.

Niskanen is no youngster for sure, he's Finnish veteran defence man. Not sure if he's really NHL quality though. He might be one of those "maybe, maybe not" cases.

Hunter on your 4th line LW. Is that Trent Hunter or a different Hunter? I don't really play with the Oilers, so I don't know if they've got another. If it's Trent Hunter, move him up to your 2nd line RW. You say your 2nd line has been doing really well? I'd be a bit concerned with having Scatchard as my 2nd line RW. He's more of a checking line (3rd line) kind of guy and he's usually better as a center. Fedorov must be getting a little old by this point. Is he slowing down? You might want to look at replacing him. Even keeping Fedorov, I don't know if I'd like him playing on the RW. Who is J. Black? Is it Jason Blake? I'm not sure who you've got in there but your 1st line LW should be one of your best players. Is O'Marra ready to take the 1st line center duties? I know O'Marra ends up pretty good (I had him in my Blackhawks challenge team) but I don't know if he's ready for this in the 3rd season. Horcoff might be better suited to that role. How does Shremp stack up to O'Marra at this point?

Overall, I'm seeing a lot of guys that are playing outside of their natural positions. I'm a big stickler for having players play in their natural positions if at all possible. That's where they're going to perform their best. If they're "unconvincing" in a position, I don't play them there. If they're "competent" in a position, I will use them there in a pinch (maybe if injuries force it) but not regularly. For example, you've got Jay Pandolfo playing RW and he's much better as a LW. Half your forwards are natural centers.

As for your defense, your top 4 are really good but I'd worry about Cairns and Trnka being my bottom pairing. I wouldn't have much confidence in them. I'd put Clymer as the RD on the 3rd pairing and then look for a couple new LDs. You've got 3 goalies and you only need 2 of those guys. I'd go with Budaj as my starter, keep Lalime as my backup (as long as he's making cheap money), and use Thibault in a trade to upgrade my defense.

Anyhow, these are just some ideas. We've all go our ways that we like to play the game and this is what I would do.

I'm the LA Kings near the trading deadline in the 3rd seasons and this is my line up:

Frolov - Gomez - Hossa
Cammalleri - Kopitar - Ryan
McCauley - Gaustad - Brown
Dingman - Leino - Kahnberg

Bouwmeester - Rafalski
Kalinin - Morris
Morrisonn - Johnson

Niittymäki
Thibault

Also have Marc Staal in the AHL and I am looking to offload Johnson so I can bring him up.
Got Gomez in January after he had spent half the season as a free agent.
Currently first in the Western Conference and I have been for most of the season.

Ha...yeah, I love when I suddenly find out about unsigned star. Once in October my scout has contacted me he found excellent player...none other than Marian Hossa. That would be sin not to sign him.

Also, with my Sharks game, I brought to team two czech players, Elias and...uhm...someone :dunno: during the season when they spend few months not playing.
