Batdad, I think I would have gone with the Ducks deal. I was actually looking to pick up Kunitz at one point but they were asking a bit too much for him. I almost dealt for Booth earlier but it was mostly an exchange of lesser players. I think I was going to give them a couple 3 star guys for him.

Knuble got put on the block by the Flyers and I was able to ship out Richard Park in exchange for him. He's a UFA after the season and he'll a little long in the tooth but I felt that he was a good pickup for some veteran scoring depth. I intend on challenging for the Cup this season.

Well, while you're challenging for the cup, I'm challenging for Tavares :-) I traded away all my veterens for Young Talent, (passed the Trade Deadline in my game) and we are going to come out of the gates firing next season. Tavares here I come :-).

Maybe I should have gone for Kunitz. But I have never been able to get ahold of Stewart, and he just looks too good. And is playing too well...

Just out of curiosity, I offered the Panthers Bergenheim and Skinner for Booth and Stewart. Looked like they were going to take the offer but I didn't want to trade for the same guys as you.

They would not do that for me. Trust me, I tried. So it was a little more for me to deal with. Stewart/Booth must be stronger in my game, or Bergie weaker.

Edit: Or you are later on and the Panthers finally realize how good STEWART and BOOTH are gonna be!

I just made a nice deal. I just got Martinek back and that enabled me to get rid of Pock, who I have hated since I started this challenge. I needed to upgrade my second line center position because even though Comrie wasn't bad, he wasn't great. So I did this...

Comrie
Pock
Skinner

to Philadelphia Flyers

for

Mike Richards!

Now if I could only find the time to play more today!

NAh I am not too surprised. The Flyers AI in this game is not the best, and B72 took advantage of that...

Nah, kidding I once had Richards too.

Holy rubbish that is one hell of a deal !

Philly had to waive Jeff Carter in my game. You have no idea how much I wanted to pick him upp :-( I mean, I'm at the bottom of the league and I have the payroll, that's exactly who waivers are designed to help.

After picking up Jamal Mayers to beef up the PK (which was in the high 60's before we got him), was able to swing another trade, this time to improve my scoring:

Bruno Gervais (0-1-1, -11, 6.42) and Sean Bergenheim (4-5-9, -9, 6.67 in 24 games) to St. Louis for Keith Tkachuk.

I wonder how this game would turn out if I had a decent goalie in net. Once my DiPi is back I should be able to destroy some opponents.

Jon Sim

42 GP
23 G - 10 A
3 +/-
Sh 25%
6.90 Avg. rating - that seems fairly low :-/

He plays on 2nd RW, 2nd PP, 2nd PK 4 on 5.

Also, just beat Bruins 8-4 with my swiss cheese goalie duo :joy:

So...after the 8-1 win over the Caps, my 6 game win streak came to an end. I have now gone into a 4 game losing streak. I think this is the longest losing streak I have ever had in EHM....meh who cares. Goon show next game. :-D

Starting lineup for game vs Islanders:

G Danis

Witt-Sutton-Fritz-Guerin-Cullimore

All except Guerin and Danis set to ENCOURAGE/BERSERK. Guerin and Danis set to aggressive and ENCOURAGE.

Time for some good old fashioned team bonding.

Things are starting to go the right direction. DiPietro is back, and is 4-0-0 with 1 SO! Now that's what I am talking about.

And just few moments ago I made my first big move as a manager. I've got my man right there. Weight + Hilbert for Ribeiro! Ribeiro was struggling in Stars team this season, and Stars heading to playoffs will need a veteran boost...so I figured a 'lil trade profiting both of us. And the best thing is that Ribeiro is locked to multi year contract, so no worries there, yay! :-D First I wanted to chase after Carter as I spotted he has been made available, but right that day he was sent to Washington...duh.

Good luck beating the rubbish out of the opposition, batdad.

DiPietro's going to be the last one back for me. Just started practicing in December and is still projected to be out another 3 months.

Luckily, Danis has settled down, and his GAA is now in the more respectable 3's (3.69 after 24 games and he's the owner of all 6 team victories.

you go fast alls, i'm the only one to play games during the entire time ???

i'm only begin the #7 game of the season 1 ...

just to say for gibson who ask for good/bad surprise, here is the good surprise of the start of season: Game #3 -> Kris Okposo, first NHL game of is career, first First Star of the game .... it's the good surprise cause i never have a player who make this in all my season played with redwings ... the bad surprise is I have no message for the congratulations for that, and I think Charles Wang must say something for that, or fans, it's not so often you have this, no ?

DIpietro is back. 3 games. 3-0-0. 3 shutouts. Ummm yeah. Here we go.

Anyway, abandonning my blog.

Made a couple smaller deals to fill things out.

Macdonald and Pock are gone to CBJ. In return I received one of my old time faves Alexandre Picard, and goalie Dan Lacosta. Both are in the minors for now. Macdonald would not have made it through waivers so made that deal.

Then...I got rid of the enigmatic and annoying Jon Sim. Traded him for much needed PK help in the form of Maxime Talbot. Straight up..

The debut for Mr. Talbot was awesome! 2 assists, 9 rating. In a 7-0 shellacking of the smelly Florida Panthers. Deeps also has 2-0 wins over Montreal and Toronto.

Slimus--Most of us don't play opn all game hilites. I use extended. Makes it much faster.

And no, they usually say nothing about players until they are close to reaching "STAR" in reputation. Media will comment, and then if you say build up praise...the owners are often happy.

Season 2

Post by Peterman5000 »

Since this is my first challenge, I went back and reviewed the rules again.

I was wondering how many coaching/scouting changes are we allowed to make for season 2?

and when....

I have been playing the game for some time, and have finally decided to get in on a challenge. I hadn't in the past due to the rules/restrictions, finding them quite onerous. However, I have decided to bite the bullet and give it a try. I will apologize in advance for all my anticipated screwups. I will post my initial entry shortly in the appropriate location on the boards.

Having said all that...WHAT A MESS!! It's no wonder the Islanders are a joke in the real world. and I thought the LEAFS were bad...

This is gonna be fun!

I dont watch the games at all. Running No highlights, fast clock speed and very fast action speed. I dont do much coaching in 1st and 2nd period. Most changes I do are before and during 3rd period. I'm not patient enough to watch the games in detail, although it is said that you get better results if you coach. Maybe thats why my Isles arent doing that well :dunno:
