"Safe" time for re-entries?

Post by capschmap »

Hi,

I have a current dilemma with my current team. I have Anton Stralman and Ryan O'Marra playing on my AHL club and I want to call them up to my NHL team because I think they're both ready. At this point, both players have to pass through re-entries and I know there's interest in Stralman which means I'll likely lose him for nothing and maybe I might lose O'Marra if I call these players up. Now, is there a "safer" time to place a player on re-entries when the risk of losing them isn't so high? Is it safer to call them up in mid-August as opposed to mid-March?

Thanks

I don't know if the trade deadline effects waivers or not, but I think it do so the teams can't waive them, so march could be a good time to call them or at least after the deadline.

Yeah... I'm not sure of an exact date that you can re-enter them but I'm 100% sure that your allowed to call someone up no matter if they need to go on waivers late in the season.

I actually think it is in the off-season for a limited time frame (around training camp IIRC)

I am pretty sure you can call guys up after September 1 for training camp, without needing to go on re-entry waivers.

Does anyone know if waivers apply during playoffs? I can't remember.

This might not help in your situation, but the EHM Tips say the best time to put guys on waivers is before the season starts when the AI teams all do the same. Since a bunch of people are typically put on waivers at the same time, there's less of a chance of your guy getting claimed.

I find that as soon as camp ends -- I mean, the day after, put your guys on waivers. The AI usually waits a couple of days to start putting their guys on Waivers, if you put yours on first, everyones rosters are already full and they won't have the ability to take your guy.
