We have a bit of a conundrum with the British leagues for the upcoming Lidas Update.
The in-game situation is this:
EIHL has 10 teams - this is the top league
EPL has 12 teams - this is the 2nd league.
Now in real life, 2 teams have dropped out of the EIHL down to the EPL, whilst 4 teams have dropped down from the EPL to the (unplayable) ENL. So we now have:
EIHL has 8 teams
EPL has 10 teams.
The solution for the EPL seems quite obvious, we include the 2 teams that dropped down to the ENL most recently.
However since the teams from the EIHL that dropped down are playing in the EPL we can't do the same with this league. We had a couple of ideas:
1) Include a real-life team that has been rumoured be joining the EIHL - there a few from Scotland & Ireland that would introduce a few rivalries for the teams already in the league. These teams are already in the game but have mainly greyed-out players or poor quality players. We would leave their rosters unchanged before the season so they struggled in the league, so the current 8 teams would (hopefully) finish in the top 8.
2) Include a new franchise in the league. This would be a team that doesn't currently exist in the game or real-life. There have always been rumours of a Leeds of Liverpool team joining the league for example. These teams would be left with no starting roster again for the reasons given above.
3) Include an old team that no longer exists. There have been many teams that have come and gone in the past, for example Manchester Storm once held the record for the highest attendance at an Ice Hockey match in the UK(over 17,000) whilst there are some other teams that had been around for ages but had unfortunately disappeared - Durham for example. Again these teams would start without a roster.
Choosing an option in this poll requires no prior knowledge of the British leagues, we're just looking for a general consensus on what people would do if it was their home league that had this problem.
If anyone else has any other options then please post them in this thread
