I don't think I'm going to get season 3 done. I'm still in the preseason. I've been spending more time doing prospects research for Lidas.

I made my trades for season two:
Wisniewski (45GP 1G 10A -11 6.89 AvR) and Weller (40GP 1G 11A +15 7.10 AvR AHL) for Warrener (38GP 2G 4A +9 7.00 AvR)
Wisniewski was -11 while the rest of the team was +0-30 so he had to go. I guess he just wasn't suited to my new tactics as he was one the leaders in that category for me last season.
Brought in a defensive D with playoff experience to be Smids partner.

McArdle (46GP 10G 6A +2 6.85 AvR) and Frolik (35GP 20G 30A +18 8.29AvR AHL) for Havlat (47GP 20G 25A -9 7.60 AvR)
I hate trading away my prospects even if I know this is going to be my last season in the challenge and McArdle was all but set to be Tkachuks replacement when he retired so I had my doubts about this trade. However neither Ruutu nor Selänne seem to be able to repeat their performances from last year so I went ahead and traded a future scorer in Frolik for an established one with playoff experience in Havlat. Another upside is that I can play Tkachuk on a line with my rookies.

Both trades were made with the Wild who are way out of the playoffs.

New lines:
Doan-Toews-Havlat
Ruutu-Steen-Selänne
Tkachuk-Chipchura-Latendresse
Battaglia-Påhlsson-Mair

Pitkänen-Morris
Keith-Montador
Smid-Warrener
(Ference)

Next season's anticipated lines (if there would have been one):
Doan-Toews-Havlat
Ruutu-Steen-Gagner
Latendresse-Chipchura-Ryan
Tkachuk-Påhlsson-Mair

Pitkänen-Morris
Smid-Strålman
Keith-Warrener
(Montador)

Oh for the love of...

We are set to face the Flames in the first round of the playoffs once again and their record against us this season is a devastating 34-20 as they won 5 out of 8 games. It's probably time for another early exit then but atleast we won the president's trophy this year.

Calgary always seems to be hard to play against. Good luck!

Agree. I'm always afraid of Calgary and I have passive record with them in all 3 seasons so far. I faced them in season 2 playoffs and beat them fortunatelly 4-2 :-D

Wow what an intense postseason, three out of four matchups went to seven games but the reborn Jets won their first and only cup in the end.

Trophies:
Tyler Schmidt - 3rd Bill Hunter, WHL Playoff MVP, Doug Wickenheiser
Guillaume Latendresse - 3rd Calder Memorial, NHL Rookie All-Star Team
Shane Doan - Conn Smythe, 2nd Maurice Richard, 3rd NHL Plus-Minus Award, NHL Second All-Star Team
Martin Havlat - 2nd Conn Smythe
Teemu Selänne - 3rd Conn Smythe, Lady Byng Memorial
Niklas Bäckström - 3rd Vezina
Derek Morris - NHL Plus-Minus Award
Joni Pitkänen - 2nd NHL Plus-Minus Award
Ladislav Smid - NHL Rookie All-Star Team

The highlight of the playoffs was Sam Gagner who was called up towards the end of the Canucks series when I grew sick of Steen's poor play and scratched him. Gagner played 14 games scoring 5 goals, 7 assists and finishing with a +8 rating while getting no special teams time. My assistant GM considered him to be the biggest star on the team.

Duncan Keith broke his leg in the final matchup and will be out for about 6 months, not that it matters now.

Thanks for another fun challenge, will we see another NTNB anytime soon? :)

On a side note my San Antonio GM was offered the GM job of the Leafs so I'll probably accept and play that until the next challenge.

I'm really not sure about a NTNB because in our current rules there really isn't a TBL budget. The only rules concerning the budget are... don't go over the team's budget enough to get fired.

Maybe before our next challenge we'll look at trading rules again. But honestly, we should be discussing this in the challenge feedback thread instead of this one.

I just traded Tuomo Ruutu and Michael Frolík for Pavel Datsyuk. Wow, I'm so glad that Detroit finally agreed (2 days before treade deadline). I can use Datsyuk both in ofensive and defensive lines so I hope he can help me get through playoffs more easily :-D

So I just finished my first TBL Challenge with three Stanley Cups in three seasons. I think that NHL historic tables are quite rewritten :-D I played against Flames (4-1), Stars (4-2), Ducks (4-0) and Rangers (4-0). It was surprisingly easy playoffs run. Now it's hard to leave my team, it is set really satisfyingly for me.

The whole challenge was really fun and I enjoyed it a lot. The best time I had with this challenge was during August when my wife and children left the city and went to our cottage in mountains. I really deeply enjoyed it and played to late night hours.
Winnipeg Jets rebirth project was succefully finished and I must thank to Bruins72 and Lidas for preparing this great backround story, team and challenge rules. At the beginning I was afraid I understand the rules correctly but then I realised that they are really simple and easy to follow. The cheat sheet is very handful, too.
Now I'm looking forward to Challenge 15 with new Lidas rosters. I hope that we will play with some NHL team again.

BTW: Where are the standings or results of Challenge 13? Overall standings are blanked and winners not announced... Only first season was counted?

We've been having problems with the sever control software that is used to enter the stats. That's why the results of Challenge 13 still aren't up. Don't worry! They'll get up there eventually and we'll count as many seasons as we had enough participants for.

With 20 games to go, I made my second trade of my second season. With Niklas Backstrom on a roll, Steve Mason found himself without a place to play, so I sent him along with Joni Pitkanen to Ottawa for minor league goalie Jeff Glass and Dany Heatley.

Heatley has been tearing it up for an Ottawa team that is 15 points out of a playoff spot and Glass has 19 wins for Binghamton. I think the trade is a win-win. Ottawa gets a 2-way defenseman and a young, talented goalie, while we get a solid goalie who could be the backup in the playoffs and a forward that can mesh well on a line with Doan and Toews, while Tkachuk, Selanne and Pahlsson now make up a solid second line.

My mistake on the Heatley trade, it was actually with 28 games remaining. My apologies.

So, this challenge is going to end tommorow and I see that 2 players are close to end their 3rd season but didn't posted records till now (posted only 41-60 games record).
Fz50 and erik1985, hurry :-D :tiptap: If you two finish 3rd season and post records then maybe that season can be counted for all of us.
At least 2nd season will be counted for sure as there are final stats for around 6 players posted

I'm not sure when we'll have things posted. We're still waiting for that software situation to be resolved.
