Exactly. Savard is a star and I'm sure there are many teams out there that would love to have him setting up their big guns. He really doesn't get enough credit from most people because he used to be all offense and didn't play both sides. He's really developed a more complete game since Julien has been behind the reins. He's not a Selke candidate but he's much more than he was before.

What you say about Bergeron is true but I still hate to see them lose him. With Savard, Krejci, and Bergeron you can roll 3 offensive lines and with Bergeron as a part of that mix, you'll still have things covered defensively.

Sometimes I really hate the salary cap.

Seems like Forsberg has set his mind on playing for Modo this season.

If they lower it, you would hate it even more. :-D

The Pens loose Goligoski for 2 to 3 weeks.

Kane and Toews are supposed to signs new deals shortly. ( Ouch for the cap next year )

Finally Ovechkin will maybe return to play tomorrow. Good thing for my fantasy team.

I like the cap. There are only a handful of teams that are very rich. They would pick up everything out there on the market.
The cap creates a competitive balance.. I mean balanced competitiveness.

The salary cap is basically good I agree because it levels the playing field. It's like forced fairness or socialism for that matter. I remember when I was a child and told to play fair. But I didn't dare call my folks commies. Haha.

It seems like, for the most part, teams that have a hard time putting fans in the seats are areas where there is no ice occurring naturally. In all fairness shouldn't Canada get a shot at getting some of those teams? I mean with revenue sharing and all that, smaller market teams could survive easier. I bet you Winnipeg or even Hartford for that matter could fill the seats quicker than Florida.

And if everyone buys into that, which I know they won't, Seattle could use an Nhl team especially with the Sonics leaving town a year or two ago. Key Arena is just dying to get more events.

What the salary cap has done is that it has forced all teams in the league to do what the Red Wings, Devils and Avs did in the pre-cap era to become successful, build your team through the draft and add the odd player through trades and free agency rather than go down the failed route that the Leafs and Rangers did where they spent lots of money on players and got nowhere.

The downside is that the teams will find themselves in situations where they are forced to let players go because of the cap. Chicago might find themselves in that situation pretty soon, though that would at least partially be their own fault.

The Hawks are definitely in a spot for next season.

RFA's Toews Keith Kane Hjalmarsson.

They will likely have to move two of (or maybe 1): Sharp, Buffy, Barker, Versteeg, Campbell, Pooet in order to have those guys under contract from next year.

My guess: Someone will be dumb enough to take Campbell off the Hawks hands.

I've see the confirmation on RDS website. I'm really happy about that, the last thing i want to see is my favorite player going to Russia. I prefer to see him play in is own country. :-)

He's starting in their game tonight and apparently Markus Näslund is stepping out of retirement to join him in a couple of weeks. And both want to play for free.

I don't think going to the KHL was ever a serious option for Forsberg. It was always between joining Modo or a Cup contender in the NHL.

If his foot stays well and he plays well enough you'll probably see him in the NHL again next season.

Can any of you Bruins-fans tell me what's up with Dennis Wideman. He is simply not producing

Sounds funny, that Näslund have 2-week-try-out-contract with MODO :-D

He has been healthy in his NHL-career and Foppa doesn't, but Foppa still gets full contract. But Foppa played well in Karjala-tournament.

I guess he had shoulder issues (surgery in the off-season maybe?) and now that the Bruins have brought in Morris, Wideman isn't getting 1st PP unit duty. Plus... the none of the Bruins have been producing, so he's just another Bruins that's underachieving.

Rumours running rampant: CBC, Kukk, hockeybuzz (tagged on), and others that Stan Bowman has done the miraculous and resigned all of:

Toews, Kane, Keith.

If true, Xmas is early for Hawk fans.

And apparently Nikita Filitov has gone back to Russia. Loaned by CBJ to a Moscow team. Shocking he would want to play on a line with someone other than Jared Boll and Mike Blunden

So what's the deal with Moulson? Why was he killing my B's last night? He kind of came out of nowhere. Is his success just the product of being on a line with Tavares?

I dunno. But I was mad when they took his 3rd goal away and gave it to Tavares. I have no clue what he has done anywhere in the past. (Must go look up)...but saw he was kicking it, so grabbed him in the pool. So far...he has been one of my top gunners. To the point where I have dressed him ahead of Morrow and almost Hartnell.

Looked him up...Kings got him out of Cornell. So smart kid. Also...in three years in Manchester scored at least 20 goals (last season in 56 games) pretty much a point per game on farm. So maybe partly Tavares, but looks like has some skill on his own, and likely a brain.

I knew he came out of Cornell. The announcers on the B's game last night were talking about how he was teammates with the B's Byron Bitz while at Cornell. So it seems like this guy might just be a late bloomer and it's been made better by playing with Tavares. 10 goals on the season so far isn't bad at all!
