Oh wow, this should be interesting. Just had a look at the team and while the D and G don't seem terrible the forwards are a riot. Two players with 13+ hitting and one is the lightweight Tucker, two players with 13+ checking, one player with 13+ pokecheck and the same one player with 13+ positioning... Yeah, we better hope we can get them to score some goals.

LOL! Yeah, Marsac, once we started looking at the rosters, it became clear that we just had to use the Avs! They may be overachieving right now in real life but they're a challenge and half here.
Anyhow, I hope a lot of people join in on this challenge. It's a great way to really jump into the new Lidas Rosters.

Yeah, this forward roster bites! I played around with them a bit while we were testing which team to use for this Challenge and went 0-6-2 in the first 8. Ouch. Granted, this was with Lidas 2.0 and some of the players have been tweaked a bit for 2.1, but geez.
The real challenge here is getting scoring out of anyone other than Statsny, Wolski and Hejduk. If you can get the 2nd line to put it in the net, you should be ok.

I have played EHM for some years now but never attended in a challenge before but this time I will give it a go!
I just hope that I have time to play between work and all.
As it is my first time in a challenge I have a question, as I understand the rules am I allowed to fire one coach this first season and hire as many as I like (if there is space for it).

I'm glad to see you jumping on board with the challenges, ie99jro! Don't worry about time to play. The challenge runs through January 18th. So you've got 2 months to get in as many seasons as possible.
As for your question... future questions about challenge rules should go here.
To answer your question, you're allowed to fire 1 assistant coach and 2 scouts.

That doesn't include your head coach. You can fire him at any time. Just keep in mind, your new head coach must have already been with the team in some other capacity for six months before he can be hired as your head coach.9.2 You may fire no more than one assistant coach and two scouts per season. You may, however, sign as may assistant coaches and scouts per season as you wish. You may hire and fire as many other types of non-playing staff as you like (e.g. physios, assistant GMs, etc).
9.4 If you wish to sign another Head Coach, you must sign somebody who has been contracted to your team for at least the past six months.

Even with the tweaks, it's still a difficult bunch of forwards to work with. I'm currently 9 games into the season (I started yesterdayCatchUp wrote:Yeah, this forward roster bites! Hmm....I may just have to get in on this. The opportunity to take a team with no physical presence, no goaltending (depending on how Budaj has been altered,) a wimpy arse defense save the old old man, and a dufus like Darcy Tucker to the Stanley Cup...may be too good to pass up.
if I do play...I guarantee this: I WILL MAKE 0 COACHING CHANGES through the first three years, save to add in however many assistants it takes to get to full allotment. And I will only hire scouts, and let contracts expire. No firing for me.

Very interesting! So you're sacrificing any possible success this season in favor of the future? Not a bad plan. Duchene is working out too well for me to get rid of though. He's been great on the second line. He's got 11 points (9 of them assists) in 10 games. After 9 games I decided to send O'Reilly down to his Junior club in Erie.thunderbug wrote:I signed Shattenkirk and sent him down to the juniors. I also sent Duchene and O'Reily down to the juniors. I am coming up on training camp. We will see what i elect to do as far as tactics with this team.
Budaj has had his attributes altered. Anderson should actually be the better of the two goalie but I'm still having better luck with Budaj in net.batdad wrote:Hmm....I may just have to get in on this. I thought about signing Shattenkirk and Cohen, but since they are teammates and eachothers favorite staff and the B.U.-coach is OK I decided to let them develop together.CatchUp wrote:Anyone planning to sign any prospects before the Oct 1 deadline for this year? I'm looking hard at Shattenkirk and thinking he might be ready for the AHL. Though I think if I sign him out of the states, I might be able to assign him to a CHL team.
O'Reilly and Duchene are probably being sent down. Just got to have a good look at them and the team first.

So as I was going through looking for a scout and came across this guy and thought you would all enjoy his first name.
