I found this: http://thehockeywriters.com/vintage-hoc ... ompin-tom/

I know it is not regular season but I didn't want to start a new thread for this. Is this ok new moderators?

There is a video of some old school hockey, including a brawl or two.

Thanks.

It's fine for this once but if it doesn't really have anything to do with the current hockey season it would probably be best suited to go in our You Tube video thread...

Did somebody know what the Oilers give to eat to Dustin Penner??? :-o The guy is completely on fire since the beginning of the season, he already pass is point and goal mark from last year and if he continu like this he would have a 90 pts + season. Maybe McTavish was the reason since he arrived at Edmonton of is offensive problems. :-k

I dont think they feed him anything. Someone must have slapped him about a bit and told him he needs to improve. Paying Penner 21 million for 5 years, and him producing 47 and 37 points in his first 2 years just aint good enough. Or maybe because he was nearly traded for Heatley he realised he needed to improve.

wow what a no-show from the Bruins against the Flyers in the third. :-o :-?

So yeah anyway, we're over 30 games into the season and the team scores almost 1.5 goals per game more with Rask in net than Thomas...coincidence ? Or does not having any confidence in the goalie actually affect the offence more than the defence ? Ridiculous thing to say ? It sure seems they don't trust Timmeh...forecheck isn't nearly as tenacious as it should be, D not pinching in, not taking any risks and just playing it safe in every situation, just collapsing infront of Thomas and hoping for the best, which results in a lot of loose puck situations around the net due to acidental deflections, bad penalties etc. Of course when you're taking chances you're gonna give up the odd breakaway...could it be they're not taking any risks because they don't trust Thomas to make timely saves on opposing team's rushes ? We know he's not that great at moving laterally...when he's on top of his game he's a top 5 goalie in the league IMO, but right now he's just a solid above average goalie, and when he's just that he tends to scramble and flip flop around a lot. Thoughts ?

It is simple. The Bruins are no longer a team on the rise. They rose, and now the opponents know who they are. Other teams are not going 1/2 hard against Boston anymore. It is a new battle for some of the Bruins to work their way through.

Also...Timmeh is Timmeh...he stops by luck and desire. Not by skill. So the team has to play more responsibly in front of him, because Timmeh is so funny looking in net, no hockey player would think he would stop anything...so yeah more of a shell for Timmeh.

But mainly it is just noone takes the Beaners lightly. Watch what happens to LA as teams begin to figure out they are not just young prospects anymore...that they are actually players.

Chicago may prove the exception to this...although they are not scoring as much now either.

The B's just fell apart in the third. They put some good pressure on at the end but they just couldn't muster enough offense. It was a great game for the first two periods. Even when there was no score, I was really entertained by this one. Then the mistakes came. Also, I'm not going to blame the outcome on the refs, but there were some seriously questionable calls in this game. That first Sobotka goal should NOT have been disallowed. That was total BS. Also, I want to see somebody destroy Hartnell in the Winter Classic. He's such a punk. What the hell was he thinking trying to get in the middle of things when two smaller, non-fighting guys were going at it? IIRC, it was Krejci and Giroux that were getting in each others faces and possibly ready to scrap. Hartnell decides to go after Krejci? Pick on somebody your own size, poodle-hair!

Ah Hartnell...when you have him in fantasy hockey you love him. Always fills in at least 2 or 3 stat boxes, and many nights fills em all in except SHG. Another guy everyone hates to play against.

Yeah he is a punk but I'd take him on my team any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Same with guys like Ott. Bruins are too nice. I understand Clode likes discipline and responsibility but sometimes a message needs to be sent. I was hoping Begin would be more of a rat. He's doing fine and everything but I miss the odd late crosscheck to the back in scrums and stuff.

LOL! I hear ya, Danny. Still, I've liked what Begin has brought to the team. He's really played well. Begin, Thornton, and Paille have been some of their best players over the last month or so. Lately, Sobotka has looked good too.

Did you hear about the two emergency call-ups from Providence? McQuaid and Wiz-whatever-ski. Wideman took a couple shots to his ankle on that big PK when the Flyers had the 2 man advantage (I think it was in the second period) and didn't play in the third. And I guess Stuart hurt something too. I've been hearing talk that Stuart is expected to miss the 3 game road trip. So Lucic was finally put on the IR, retroactive to the first game he missed due to the injury, and they recalled these two guys from Providence. I'm really interested in seeing McQuaid play. From what I've heard, he plays a physical game. I'm a bit worried to see them without Stuart though. He's been pretty reliable on the blue line.

Yes, Wozniewski. Fear THE WOZ...if your name is Tim Thomas or Tuukka Rask :D He's been horrible every time I've seen him in the NHL. He's doing fine for the Baby Bruins. If he's paired with Ference that's like going back to the Dave Lewis era...this has York/Dempsey written all over it :D
McQuaid had a few games with the Bs before I think, they even spelled his name on the jersey wrong for one game :-p
He's solid defensively, tough, doesn't add much offensively but he's the number 1 shutdown guy in Providence, always playing against the other team's top offensive line.

 I just got shivers when you said that. I don't want to think back to the Dave Lewis era! Such a sad, sad time.

He hasn't played this season, has he? IIRC, he might have played a game or two last season or the season before that. Anyhow, from everything I've read, he plays his role very well. He's a defense first kind of guy. If he keeps his game simple and plays his style of play, he could do well in this call-up.

Spezza will be out for 6 to 8 weeks. Bad news for the Sens, though he doesn't have a great season so far.

Not to go off topic...but when you have 22 Bruins and 1 Senator on your fantasy roster and that Sen gets hurt...what do you do?

LOL! Yeah, it's pretty close to that. I've accepted that I drafted very poorly this year.

Did this just come out? Jeez, I didn't know it was that bad. That's horrible. I really like what Mark Stuart brings to the team.

EDIT:

I just checked HFboards and saw that it's a cracked sternum. OUCH!
