I have no opinion Getz. Nothing done is exciting. Nothing done makes anyone very much better or worse. Phoenix made some good moves. Washington made some okay ones. But really....just not making any team any better. Pens win. Pens win.
Burke feels a responsibility to speak to media about his deals. The others do actually do it most of the time. Just that they are not as spotlight worthy as Burke has been. Remember, dude has been GM in Vancouver (hockey crazy), Anaheim (Cup winner), and the hockey mecca of the universe. People want to hear him.

Meh. What should they have done? Traded 2nd round picks for Andy Sutton? Alberts is a younger version of him, and came cheaper. And to get anything bigger done, what pieces do they really have? C Schneider(would have been gone, if something made any kind of sense--clearly his value is not what some think...), Grabner (10 games or so in NHL where he does something, mediocre in AHL...Hodgson (want them to trade him?) Sauve, Wellwood, Bernier? Not worth anything...
What have the Canucks got that is NOT part of the core that would have landed them anything good? Clearly since pretty much ZERO got done anywhere in the league...the prices out there were pretty high as well.

Agree with ya there. I just think we coulda used a defensemen. The only resaon I dont like Alberts deal is he is not an upgrade over Lukowich.batdad wrote:Meh. What should they have done? Batdad you're never short of an opinion. Usually 1 that contrasts everybody else.
I meant adding opinions along with the deal done. Hockey trades could be found on nearly every hockey website, it's more interesting to hear what people think of them.
The Nucks didn't need to make signifcant moves. They have Bieksa and Mitchell returning from injury, that'll be like acquiring 2 new players. I'd also like to see Grabner given a chance in Vancouver. He's looked decent so far.

Just when four guys thought a trade to Calgary meant they'd never have Toskala playing behind them.....
I'm actually quite excited about the Andy Delmore for Riley Armstrong trade. Abbotsford has a young defense, so Calgary adding a veteran (With quite the slapshot too, for what it's worth) in exchange for one of many grinders is fine by me. Hopefully, he'll be suiting up for Friday's game against Worcester.

That's his biggest problem. How's his contract? Is it ending at the end of this season?ReggieDunlop wrote:Jypfan92 wrote:I don't think so, he is very good backup goalie.ReggieDunlop wrote:I think Toskala's done in nhl.
Then he's getting a serios pay cut. maybe some khl team are willing to pay him that silly paycheck he's now getting.

Petteri Nokelainen was traded to Coyotes from Anaheim for 6th round pick.
Good trade to Coyotes, Nokelainen is good 4th line def. forward.
Miika Wiikman was traded to Coyotes from Rangers for 7th round pick (2011).
Joe Corvo was traded to Capitals for Oskar Osala, Brian Pothier and 2nd round pick (2011.)

This one is not good trade. Wolski was superb in Colorado, fans love him. I don't know much about Mueller and Porter, so hopefully Greg Sherman knows what he's doing. But I'm surprised that Peter Mueller played immediatelly for Colorado in Anaheim yesterday. How could he catch the game? And he scored!Jypfan92 wrote:Colorado's Wojtek Wolski goes to Phoenix for Peter Mueller and Kevin Porter

Also, Tomas Kaberle allowed Toronto to trade him away but, finally, no deal was made.
And last news: David Booth decided to payback some punches to Mike Richards. Unfortunatelly, he failed a bit.

Phoenix and Anaheim (Where Colorado played) aren't a million miles apart. I'm guessing he was informed a little earlier in the day and set off before the trade was confirmed to the media?
Wolski was liked.
He has some serious work ethic issues and doesn't like getting his nose dirty at the front of the net, that type of player annoys the hell out of me. Mueller has the talent to be immense. He's not the best skater though.

I was really surprised at the Wolski being traded away from Colorado, though I must say maybe I don't follow the Avs close enough. I also hoped for a better destination for Wolski than Phoenix, but what can be done, eh. I wish him all the best, as far as I know he's the only current NHL player born in Poland.
From a Canucks fan point of view... a pretty uneventful deadline. The most important info is the seriousness of Mitchell's condition. I really hope to see Willie back in Canucks jersey next season, as he's probably the most important defenseman currently on the Nucks roster. Just can't imagine the team without him, though his injury history, age, and expected cap hit make his departure all the more probable. I just hope they can sign Hamhuis in the offseason if Willie's really gone. Still, it would be a shame to see him go.
As for Alberts, he's a big defensive blueliner, probably a decent bottom-pairing guy. Not a major upgrade. Was hoping for another centre, but I guess Welly and Johnson will have to do.

I find it pretty funny as well, I wonder how much Colorado will be going to regret that trade.philou21 wrote:I found that really funny when I saw this on TV this morning.McQwak wrote:Great, Wolski scored the game winner 23 seconds before the final whistle against AvalancheThat was is personnal revenge.

Sure, Mueller might be a good prospect, but Wolski was already performing well and might develop even more in the future.
