I'm still playing with the original DB but I'm not really interested in team like Tampa or Islanders because I found them boring to play as boring to watch in real life.
How's it going in EHM2007? What team Are You?

Stupid question here!
Some people may got suggestion for me......I really don't know what team to pick up! I'm cherching for a ''decent'' team I would need to rebuilt and maybe not make the playoffs in my first/two year. I want some youngster in the farm who can make the team in the futur too.
I'm still playing with the original DB but I'm not really interested in team like Tampa or Islanders because I found them boring to play as boring to watch in real life.
I will impose myself some rules like trades or UFA signing. I'm not really interested in junior team either but maybe you can give me some advices.

I'm pretty sure that Florida in the original DB has a lot of good young talent and Chicago has Jonathan Toews playing college hockey. So you can either sign him right away or let him play a year or two of college hockey.

Started unemployed, got hired to Slough Jets in the EPL. Won 5 games a row before my starter Stephen Wall (?) got injured. I noticed that Donnie or what was his name is better even his technical and mental attributes are lower than 6 all of them. Except determination, 19. That what makes he win games. My tactic needs a goalie with iron nerves and consistency. This guy has both. GAA 3.10 but SV% over 0.92. I like the team. Joe Ciccarello or some Can/Ita guy, 1+13 in 10 games and Nicky Chinn (?) with 8+3. I like it.

Ex. Avs, Oilers, Flames won't do it for me, simply because of the colours. But, Red Wings, Devils will.
Lolllll I thought I was the only idiot here thinking about that.

So finally started with the Hawks, class 30 in the pre-season ranking.
Would try to make the ranking lie about me. Won my first game 4-1 against Nashville!

I put some restriction I just made two trade, getting rid off Lapointe salary and get a scorer by getting Saprykin against Lalime but it's enough. I want to make my season with that team. If I've got a chance to make the playoffs then I will try to trade to improve the team.
So my line-up looks like this....
Saprykin-Handzus-Havlat Cullimore-Aucoin
Ruutu-Sharp-Vrbata Keith-Seabrook
Holmqvist-Smolinski-Hamilton Kukkonen-Vandermeer
Brouwer-Arkhipov-Bolland
Khabibulin-Boucher
Since I've start playing EHM I can say it's the worst line-up I've ever have. But I will try some new tactics to make them look good at least.

Just finished my third season as the Bruins.
First two seasons went well. Made it to the conference finals each season, but lost to New Jersey and Washington. In my third season, I made it to the conference finals again after beating Atlanta and the Rangers, and faced the Caps again. This time I was victorious and went to the Stanley Cup Finals against Minnesota. Went up 3-1, before almost letting it slip away and having to play game 7 in Boston, in which I won 5-2, winning the Bruins their first Cup since 1972.
Roster:
Sturm-Bergeron-Ryder
Paille-Savard-Satan
Rasmussen-Krejci-Sim
Thornton-Hamill-Whitfield
Wideman-Chara
Mark Stuart-Morris
Gauthier-Baumgartner
Thomas
Rask
You may notice that Lucic is missing. Unfortunately he decided to ask for a trade right before his contract was up. As the news item said "His agent told him he could get more money elsewhere". I held onto him over the summer while he was RFA, but it was just too expensive, so I shipped him off the Islanders for picks.
Zach Hamill won the Calder, Patrice Bergeron won the Conn Smythe and Lady Byng, Chara won the Hart, Lester B. Pearson, and his second straight Norris,

I finished another season with the St. Louis Blues. Won the Presidents Trophy last season (2013-2014) but lost in the second round to Minny. I can never win a cup with anyone. We're always top 3 in the NHL in points but we underachieve in the playoffs.

Hope it has nothing to signing a former Shark in every save... (in this case it's Marleau)
Got rid of some players and leaning on the young guys to step up:
G. Vermette (regen) - P. Marleau - M. Gaborik
K. Daugavins - R. Gallant (regen) - A. Lander
D. Cleary - B. Betts - M. Kitsyn
J. Neal - J. Campbell - B. Danielsson (regen)
M. Katic - E. Johnson
N. Crawford - S. Lund
R. Wilson - D. Girardi
H. Toivonen
K. Barulin
Injured/Spares: B. Boyes (INJ), a couple regen D-men who I send to Peoria and emergency recall them for injury, and an Italian regen.
Vermette is my fantastic young talent. Got 75 pts (25G-50A) in all 82 games last season. Gallant is a rookie after a great year at Peoria last season. I also have some great D-men at Peoria and a couple fantastic prospects at Tri-City of the WHL and Bowling Green in the NCAAs. I also have 2 young goalies at Peoria (one I think is Barasso regen named Todd Carlson, other I duno named Per Olsson who I had when I was with Frolunda) and Toivonen and Barulin are in the last year of their contracts so if we don't get a deep playoff run I'm definitely letting Barulin leave as a UFA and maybe Toivonen too.

If you use tactic with easy/normal hitting, try to put it to hard. Then you could rule in the playoffs! And of course, if nothing works, play with three offensive lines.

It's not a bad idea, but nowadays I let Laviolette handle everything (since he is the head coach, and I'm paying him $1.6 million. He might as well do somethingRonc wrote:rancer890 wrote:I finished another season with the St. Louis Blues. Won the Presidents Trophy last season (2013-2014) but lost in the second round to Minny. Currently in the 2013/14 season with Chicago. Still haven't won a cup and am on to my 5th Head Coach. This year doesn't look like it will be much different from other years. Was predicted to finish 3rd by the Hockey News at the start of the season but am currently sitting 10th after 40 or so games.
Top line of Parise Carter and Hossa continues to do their "thang" but bugger all else is happening through the rest of the team. Goaltending is a huge problem as I've been unable to sign any UFA Goaltenders for the last 3 years, leaving me with 2 young guys, who should not normally be anything more than backups, fitting the bill. No trades seem to come off either!
Still, I persist! Hoping that I'll get to the cup someday!

I am playing Montreal, currently in season 4 (09'-10').
We Won 3 Stanley Cups to date. (06'-07'-07'08'-08'09)
Here are my lines.
Offensive
Kovalchuk - Cammalleri - Hossa
Parise - Zetterberg - Gionta
A.Kostitsyn - Gomez - Lavoie
Maxell - Granlund - Brown
Defensive
Berard - Sarich
Grossman - Gorges
Theriau - Fowler
Goalies
Halak
Esche
As you can see, i made my team based on offense, the reason i did this is because i have good goaltending.
The only problem i have is mostly Prospects, Most of my 1st round picks End up Flops ... I dont know how to make them reach there full potential.

Mmmmm well. The "worst line-up ever" isn't has bad as I thought worst.

I'm at the 20 December and so far I'm second in the west with a nice 17-11-4. With my big 38 points I lead my division so I'm able to be at the second spot ( thx to the weak division ) even if the 4 and 5 position got 42 and 44 points.
Khabibulin is better than I thought, he make a decent job. Brent Seabrook so far is my revelation of the year. I know he can become very good but at the first season he got 23 points in 32 games with a nice 8.44 performances. He play on my second line and on the first line on the PP. He freaking rock!

I think it's a stupid rule that if you're at the top of your division, you're in top3 in conference as well, if you'd be 11th in your conference in points, you would be 3rd in conference, if you would lead your conference.
Another stupid thing is that there can never be rival teams in Stanley Cup final. I'd like to watch finals like MTL-TOR, DET-COL, CGY-EDM... Examples aren't very good, but I think you got the point (and I don't know any more rivalries in NHL
 ).

The situation is worst then I thought! I'm supposed to be at the 9th place and I'm second because of that!

So I ended up with yet another inconsistent year. Finished in 8th with the Blackhawks (40-37-5). Carter had a team-leading 102 points and had a great performances out of 3 rookies which was good. Unfortunately, I scored as many goals as I let in, a whopping 334. 2nd highest goals scored and allowed incidentally.
Was kicked out in 4 games by the 1st ranked Flames - didn't get cleaned up, the scores were pretty reasonable. Still, I've failed AGAIN, so it's back to the drawing board one more time...
