Also it is of course easier to "hide" away guys on the third/fourth lines but with defense there's nowhere to hide and boy did it show tonight.

McIver had one of those games that I wouldn't be surprised if he wakes us screaming a few times tonight... he was really getting abused out there from the part of it I saw.
LA had even worse injury situations the past few years but they were at least at forward so they were comparatively not forced to reach quite as far down the depth list as the Nucks have had to to fill their defense.
Also it is of course easier to "hide" away guys on the third/fourth lines but with defense there's nowhere to hide and boy did it show tonight.

After having seven days off and basically going back to training camp the Hwks look quite good actually
Bummer they lost in the shootout versus the Devils last night but they played an excellent game with a skilled team. Tonight they look great against the Blues, everyone is playing hard and taking the body
This line with Ruutu on one side and Vrbata on the other has had some fantastic shifts leading to two hard working goals

Well that was a great win for the Hawks
This is all I ask of my team; get out there and give it your all for 60. The Blues dominated a lot of the second but only got one goal on a turnover by Sebastian Caron who other than that played a great game in his first between the pipes this year. People might look at the Waterboy "Bobby" Boucher's 0-5 record in net and think he's been terrible but he's actually been very very solid in his past three or four games and was flat out amazing last night in NJ. With Ruutu looking like he's getting back up to speed (he really hasn't played more than about four games in a row since early on last season acually) and Havlat returning we'll just have to see what happens as far as results go.
But any fan would be happy to have their team battle like the Hawks have the past two games really and that's all I really wanted out of this season for the team.
So the injury to Handzus is the one that really puts the damper on the "season that could have been" but I still feel with the youth and lack of NHL level experience on the team they are still heading in the right direction overall.

As I've said Waterboy has been playing really well, so it was great to see him get a win finally and a shutout no less with Columbus yesterday
Go Hawks! Now they've got a big ole road trip coming up aka the extended "Circus Roadtrip" as Barnum & Bailey's Circus takes over the United Center through (US) Thanksgiving.
Usually this means the longest road trip of the year but looking at the schedule they are actually out of town in the beginning of February for seven games while this one is only 5 this year
The schedule is harsh though, the only losing team being the first game vs the Yotes, then they play the Ducks the next day, then the Canucks, Flames, and Oilers before coming home at the end of the month to face Dallas.
Speaking of scary, I'm kind of glad I wasn't at the game yesterday and that I didn't catch a replay of it, as Rene Bourque left in the 2nd period with a "deep laceration" of his neck from the skate of Zherdev
it's never good when the team releases a statement after the game that a player is "in stable condition and the injury is not life-threatening"
Of course it's another forward out of the lineup for a month and a half too but in this case I'm just happy the guy is okay.

Two simple tips for any fan who might be playing the Kings in the near future: If you can't tell which one is Frolov he's the one sipping an iced tea while wearing shorts and a tank top while everyone else in your town is wearing long underwear and a parka and carrying cups of coffee for warmth.
Also important is to keep in mind some simple safety precautions: If you see him around town you should not look directly at him for any extended period of time and whatever you do don't make contact with him or you will come away with third degree burns. He is on FIRE!!!
Just watched him score a shorthander in the Pho-LA game on a breakaway on the backhand that was just wrong and that was his second of the game already mid way through the second; that 9 goals in 9 games now.

I got to go to the Bruins-Caps game last night, what a great game to see live. Got to see a penalty shot, and Murray stuff in the winner in OT! The only thing it was missing was a good fight.
I must say, that Chara guy is even bigger in real life than on TV.
Lets hope the Bs keep the roll going tomorrow night!

Well, a win is a win and I take it!!!!BBFan417 wrote:Bruina are on fire 4 wins in their last 4 games. Too bad 2/4 went to Overtime and 1/4 went to shootouts, haha.
But yes, sad we gave up OTs because in the game against the Leafs and against the Caps IMHO we were clearly the better team.
But hey....4 in a row, baby!!!!
noctambulist: Iam sooooooo jealous!!!!!
I have planed to do a trip to the US next year and I will do it in october-november just to see a B's game!!! Looking forward to it!!!

Rally hats? Helmets? All the Canucks need is Overtime with Morrison on the ice. The guy is sick 4 on 4. Something like 10 or so OT winners in 4 seasons. Pretty good.
Oh yeah Canucks record this season vs the old Snorris (whatever that division with the Wings in it is called-Central?) is 8 wins and 2 losses (Nas, Det). I would like to thank all those poor souls in that division for the fact that the Canucks even have a chance at making the playoffs. Overall 1 game over 500. Batting 800 against this division (Stl 2-0, Nas 1-1, Det 1-1-1, Chi 2-0, CBJ 1-0)

The Boston Globe -
"The directive came from center Marc Savard, who presumably would have righted his helmet if Lewis had sent him in as the third or fourth shooter, the likely scenario if the shootout had reached such lengths even though "Lewie didn't tell me," said Savard.
That made them even, because Savard didn't tell Lewis about his plot, either. He just figured it was time to do something; the heck with haute couture.
As the resident instigator on the team, Savard is an expert in such twists of logic.
He invented the rally helmet during his productive stay with the Atlanta Thrashers and brought it with him to Boston as a secret bonus after the Bruins landed him as a free agent during the summer.
Savard apparently held sway as a fashion designer in Atlanta as well. He concocted the rally helmet after the Thrashers had performed even more abysmally in shootouts than the Bruins had.
"We'd lost like seven in a row," recalled Savard before the Bruins beat the Toronto Maple Leafs, 2-1, in overtime last night at TD Banknorth Garden.
So the helmets were reversed, and -- presto! -- a turnaround, so to speak, was launched.
"We won like our next seven in a row," said Savard, refusing to gloat about his invaluable contribution."

Pretty funny stuff!
