Spent a little time with the roster yesterday and found som things to fix, if you want to:
Thomas Johansson, Sweden (free agent in the roster) have retired.
Jacob Markström, Brynas IF, needs a boost, here is what i think:
Positioning: 14
Blocker: 12
Glove: 14
Recovery: 12
Rebound control: 12
Reflexes: 11
(I also think that CA/HR/CR should be around 110/105/115)
I can also post the correct shirt numbers for players in the Swedish Elitserien. But as your surely know these can be found on the teams homepages or at hockeyligan.se if you want.
One more thing. When I start a game the teamlogos for Djurgardens IF and Frolunda HC is missing. Is there a way to get them back to the game?
I have already retired Johansson - the good ppl at EHMSweden told me about that.
I'm not sure how to handle Markstrom... He is really good for sure, but he was "only" drafted in the second round. Giving him a CA of 110 would put him way over Stamkos, Doughty, Bogosian and the others... maybe all NHL-scouts were mistaken :dunno:
As for the logos - I renamed Djurgarden and Frolunda, so you will need to rename their logo-files in order to see them in the game.
Lidas - thanks for making this update. I am using it and appreciate the work that went into it. I left a couple of suggestions on the SI forum.
I would respectfully suggest you think again about the rookies. The last three years the top 5 rookies have averaged:
1st 88 points
2nd 83
3rd 61
4th 53
5th 48
If your top rookie is under 100 CA, I highly doubt they will hit close to 70+ points. And that fails to consider the rookie defencemen who can play top 4 minutes like Phaneuf. While I appreciate it is difficult, in the absence of history, to figure out which rookies are going to hit these kind of points, or play seriously well as rookie defenseman, I think for the game to be realistic, an update should look at the various forecasts of the hockey forecasters and take a leap of faith, knowing that some will be wrong but, at the end of the year if the top rookie scorers have points something like the above that overall the game is holding true to the expereince of the new NHL. Even if you want to be conservative at set the bar a little lower (e.g. 70-75 points for the top rookie scorer, 60-65 for second, etc.) I think the average CA of players delivering 70-75 points in the game is higher than 100, probably significantly higher.
my two cents....

A big profile in swedish hockey, Magnus Wernblom, has retired.
He's the player who has got most penalty minutes in Elitserien, but also the player who has scored most goals in Elitserien after the greatest player in Elitserien ever, Håkan Loob. Thanks for these years Magnus.
I retired him as soon as I saw the news. / Lidas

I found a small one: Kevin Lowe is disliking the wrong Brian Burke. He should be disliking Anaheims Burke, now he's instead disliking Sudbury's Burke. I don't know, if this has any effect on in-game dynamics, but it might. By the way, i like how you've done a lot of these "likes/dislikes" on players, should make the game even more fun.
You're right, it's the wrong Burke. It will be fixed in the next version

Retired Players-
Ryan Vandenbusshe
Players who get signed but shouldn't, so maybe lower stats, some probably have retired, others won't see the NHL again:
Anson Carter
Dave Scatchard
Richard Litner
Joel Bouchard
Reed Low
Grant Marshall
Dan McGillis
Richard Matvichuk Just give him a permanant knee/back/everything injury, teams won't take a chance on him
Nathan Perrott
Clarke Wilm
Cameron Mann
David LeNeveau
Maxime Ouellet
Al Montoya
Deron Quint
Ratings need lowered
Mikael Samuelsson- He's always leading the lead in scoring or up for MVP
Garth Murray
Just trying to make it realistic
Thanks man, did alot of downgrading here / Lidas

Check on that. reason I say that t-bug is that in this version...
EXAMPLE:
Patrick Kane would be considered to already have his rights with Chicago for 1 year at the start of the game. IRL he was drafted 2007. Rights for 07-08, 08-09. But in EHM...he would be considered drafted in 2005. Rights would be 05-06, 06-07. Since 06-07 is the first season...well only one year of rights for him left.
However, if this is happening with people YOU drafted in the game...forget what I just said or tried to say.

It was 2 of the 2008 draft class IRL. 1 was Daulton Levielle (sp) who ATL drafted with the Pens' pick. He was concentrating on signing with a major junior club and was set up to transfer at end of year, and then I received the notice of his rights expiring in the first offseason. So I try and sign him and his major junior contract blocks that. The other one I managed to sign.

Lidas, can you sent Kyle McLaren of the San Jose Sharks down to Worcester? It's pretty hard to get a correct Payroll without waving him... He always gets picked though, so you still have to pay 50% for him.
McLellan put him on waivers before the season I think and he cleared them, so it would be realistic if he's on Worcester right from the beginning.
I already have him down there in my 1.1 version. / Lidas

There is a swedish player named Torbjörn Johansson (35 years old, i think) who always gets a contract with one of the best teams in the swedish Elitserien every time the game starts. Johansson is a former pro-player but hasn´t played any pro-games for many years. It would be fine if you could give him a permanent injury or lower his attributes.
There are a few more 35+ players who gets a contract with the top teams. I'm at work now - but if you want i can take a look at it tonight.

Please do. I want to keep the DB as realistic as possible. Johansson did actually play last season in Norway - but he shouldnt be able to make a comeback in Elitserien.Moorne wrote:There is a swedish player named Torbjörn Johansson (35 years old, i think) who always gets a contract with one of the best teams in the swedish Elitserien every time the game starts. I guess it's because the game doesn't know when the players were drafted - so it can't know when they expire. In order to fix this, I'd need to set the draft year of the drafted players - but then I would have to move back ALL players ever drafted's draft years back two years in order to create space for two additional drafts.thunderbug wrote:Lidas have you taken a look yet at why the two people's rights expired early?
I think this would be too time-consuming, and too risky for the database stability to take on. If I were to miss just one player, it would cause two players to be drafted with the same pick, and I doubt that the game would like that.
I guess we'll just have to live with it, unless someone comes up with a better idea.

How about just adding them onto the 2006 draft? Say making Kane pick 301, round 10 and Stamkos pick 601, round 20.
I've just tested this by putting Schenn as pick 900 and it worked - so there's plenty of room.
A little bit messy but it's probably the best solution given the limitations, unless the draft overload crashes the game of course.

I have a project in mind where I could use some help - NHL Rookies
As it is now, there are WAY too many "rookies" who are not supposed to be rookies anymore. (Malkin, Kane, etc).
I was hoping that someone could help me research this so I can implement it into a future version.
What I need is a list of NHL players who count as rookies in the first playable season, and how many NHL games they had played BEFORE the current season, e.g.
Evgeni Malkin, 160
Patrick Kane, 82
Nicklas Backström, 82
... and so on.
Any takers?

Done some testing and I believe it works. The player rights will remain for one extra year if I add a draft date.Lidas wrote:That is an excellent idea. Some players will still have their rights valid for too long, but better with too long than too short.
