Its just like the U20 system.visualdarkness wrote:Ugh, all this age-restrictions, drafts and rights really confuses me. I'm happy we don't have this system in Europe.![]()
The difference is
-there is a draft for players rights
-you are allowed 3 20 year old players in your lineup
-you are allowed 2 import players in your lineup

bruins72 wrote:Hmmm... you bring up a good point. So if we take a screenshot for our player stats in June we won't show any guys that might have played well for us and then were released due to the reserve list? Like Overage players mostly. Right? For example, I could have Arniel as my top scorer for the season but not make the playoffs. Once the draft comes, I have to release some players because of my reserve list. So I release Arniel because he probably wouldn't be back next year. By releasing Arniel, I have no proof of his stats for the season if I take a screen shot in June.Loosie wrote:Question about season ending stats. The rules state that the end of season stats nee to be taken in the month of June. Playing in the OHL before in EHM I knew that after the draft in May we would have to deal with the reserve list. I took a screenshot of the stats in May the day I got the warning, then I took a screen shot in June and the players I released are not there. So in my stats post I will post both shots. Then maybe a rule change can be made of the CHL seasons.
Is that what you mean? If so, then I think we should have to make a change to the rules.
You dont have to make a rule change. just change the location required for were you take the snapshot. go under the player stats view and select your team in June and it will show everyone that played for the team.

We'll look at that for the next challenge. I've made the simple change to the date for now. To change which screen they're required to go a shot of... that's a bit more involved. I'd need to make new examples and also change more of the wording... plus a lot of people wouldn't take the new screen, they'd still take the old one. Hopefully the date of taking the existing screenshot won't be such a big deal.macdman wrote: You dont have to make a rule change. just change the location required for were you take the snapshot. go under the player stats view and select your team in June and it will show everyone that played for the team.

Who'd everyone get in the Import Draft?
I picked up Pontus Netterberg and Henrik Messfeldt. Both look pretty good.
Also managed to draft the number 1 ranked skater in the OHL priority draft. I've never seen the number 1 ranked guy fall that far (I was at 15). It was Calvin Carrier.
Also traded Preisinger for Alan Quine. Needed to move him because he took up a foreign roster spot
All my centres behind Arniel played pretty bad, and I decided to go after wingers in the draft, so hopefully I can get someone going

Just finished the first season with the Sting. And it went better than expected, as we achieved our goal of finishing better than the real Sarnia Sting (last overall). Had no real expectations for the season, although I'm familiar with the roster being an avid fan of the OHL.
Now for the surprises and disappointments.
Going into the season, I felt we'd only be as good as our over-agers played, and most of the ones that were sent down played really well. Jamie Arniel may have had one of the best seasons I've had in EHM out of a player in the CHL. He finished the season with 140 points, multiple 7 point games (including the last one of the season), Red Tilson award winner (MVP), and most impressive IMO is that he finished 20+ points ahead of the 2nd highest point getter in the OHL. Other very strong seasons came from; Neal with 30 g and 75 p, Ritchie with 53 p, Kerbashian 43 g and 85 p, and what really surprised me Chiarlitti with 51 p (he's known as a very defensive defenseman, though is finding his offensive game).
At first was disappointed to see that Katic and Martin (didn't really expect him) didn't get sent down. In every OHL franchise I have Katic always puts up incredible amounts of points for Sarnia. Though out of this Chiarlitti got a lot of PP time, and in turn had a really strong season. The only player I was somewhat disappointed with was Francisco. From seeing him play, this kid is a real talent and could eventually play top 6 NHL minutes IMO. That being said, he played 2nd line minutes with PP time and only managed to put up 40 points (maybe my expectations were too high for him).
Going into the off-season, we felt confident we could get a good player in the one-for-one trade, looking for a 93 born skater. On July 1st we went out looking for a player that'll be a big part of when this team will peak (year 3 and 4). Came up to Ryan Zupanic for either Matt Puempel or Scott Harrington. Zupanic played really well for us but his trade value was just too high to pass up. Ended up picking Harrington, feeling the need to build the defense core moving forward.
In the CHL import draft we picked up Swedish goalie Johan Gustafsson and forward Erik Thorell. Though he's a 92 birth date, Throell was already signed with the Sabres in June, but we hoped he may get sent down (didn't happen he's playing in the AHL now). Trying to solidify the goaltender position, we hope Gustafsson can come over to NA in year 3, as his contract expires April 2008.
Lastly, don't get me started about the OHL draft lol. I'd be impressed if anyone got any solid seasons out of a 2007 OHL draft pick. Though I'm already excited about next years draft.
And that's the end of my rant.

Just started the challenge yesterday and so far I'm liking it, although I'm losing more games than winning them... Not that it's uncommon for me anyway. Seems like my biggest downfall is PK, we've conceded the most PP goals (35 in 17 games) and that has to be fixed. I've already set the PK percentage in practice to 30%, but either my PK units have the wrong players, or the unit tactics are just totally wrong... Or both
Kerbashian has been my best goalscorer so far with 11 goals and Arniel has 18 assists and 21 points. Campbell is clearly the better goalkeeper when compared to Gladwish, so Campbell will play as many games as possible.
At the moment my line-up looks like this:
Kerbashian-Arniel-Ritchie
Neal-Zion-Hottot
Francisco-O'Quinn-Alderson
Peters-Stoughton-Vickers
Katic-Sullivan
Chiarletti(A)-Paat(C)
Broussard-Donati(A)
Campbell
Gladwish

I initially had issues with the second season, starting 1-6 and looking like things where not going to be to successful, but since then I have been able to pull a 180 and have gotten things going. We are currently 20-15-2-1 and in fourth place.
Campbell has stepped up, and Phillips really is a solid #2.
Quine is the offensive leader and will be for 3 more seasons. Ritchie and O'Quinn have been solid offensively.
I drafted Max Gortz with my import pic. Strong season thus far, almost a point a game on my second unit and providing good secondary scoring. Adam Larsson was taken as my second pick as a gamble pick, hope he gets drafted and assigned.
Lines thus far are as follows
Fransico - Kerbashian - Ritchie
Zion - Quine - Gortz
Campagna -Preisinger - O'Quinn
Hottott - Laliberte - MacQueen
Chairalitti - Sullivan
Rogalski - Paat
Zupancic - Broussard

Ouch, that must hurt. That's your only time being able to play EHM.bruins72 wrote:I hear you! Same here. I think I got no more than 4 games in yesterday and none so far today. Work is too busy and I'm not getting my play time in!

Oh, I just had my best 17 games segment in 34-51, my team won 7 games.

Halfway through the season and still 9th. PK is a bit better now, but lately we've struggled a bit with scoring. Maybe some of the players are tired because of the training schedule, but not sure about that. If I want to get into playoffs, defending needs to be much better than so far. Here's hoping I can figure it out as soon as possible.
