I'm active and closely watching both discussions here and on the league message board. But simply I don't care about this trade.

In all leagues I have ever seen the number is usually 40%. But ridiculous trades such as this one NEVER get rejected. Why? Because of inactivity and apathy like above.

Its too bad this league has become so apathetic. There are about 5 real active owners. I won't be back next season because of it. People are clearly not enjoying the league and are no longer involved, so why should I bother. Stinson--same for you.

To me...this is the last year of the league. Its pointless.

Why did the forums stop updating me by mail when it comes to a couple of of important threads, incl this one? I thought it went dead again but apparently not.

I'm not really apathetic since I'm very active (in screwing my team over this season...) but I just is the kind of person that thinks people can do quite dumb trades as long as it's not some kind of cheating nor an obvious hari-kari. Hate it if you want. The big problem in my eyes is the lack of activity as things usually balance itself up as long as there is some kind of market out there to compare to, right now we got basically none.

I've been doing bad trades, releasing players that should have been keepers and done other big mistakes but I take it as everything is a gamble when it comes to fantasy hockey. One injury and your whole ship could sink. We just need activity!

Sorry...not going to get more activity. Noone is interested in making deals or anything...I have made one trade this season (maybe 2...so long ago cannot recall)...but prior Xmas I sent out about 12 trade offers. I heard back from one person.

That made me decide then and there...no point. Noone is interested in working out a deal. Apparently even the 2-15 teams only have players they love. I have offered out some pretty amazing fantasy players and got nothing back. Several of those Xmas deals included Roberto and Marleau. a couple had Bourque in them, and one even had my bread and butter guy Ryan Callahan.

The players I was asking for were equals, but it seems people have no interest and are not even taking the time to look at trade offers....cause if they did...there would actually be a response...it would not just sit there in pending transactions.

And further to that....I have not had one Single trade offer made to me since way prior to Xmas. I think I have had maybe 1 all season. Pointless. Yep...sometimes I reject them, sometimes I don't. But at least I respond.

So....to me this is now boring.

Sorry batdad, I believed in my team but it was a stupid thing to do if we watch the standings. I waived most of the tradeable slumping players around new year since no one wanted them. They all are on different teams now putting up decent to good numbers. In hindsight I should have kept them but I was desperate and my offers were laughed at even though I put in some of my best guys.

Guys like Zetterberg was impossible to move for anything of until about half-way since he was brutally bad. I was basically locked up...

Yeah well...still no offer made to me that includes Zetterberg or anyone else on your team. Or any other team...like I said....I have not found trade offers coming my way since last season in about December (that would be December 2010)

Each trade (I think maybe 3 or 4 have been made all year) I have seen...I think...why would that guy make a trade with that team, without offering to me or anyone else? It makes no sense. Guys are operating in a bubble like they are all freaking stupid...and then they end up making a horrible deal because nothing is offered around the league. I just don;t get it....and have grown totally frustrated and annoyed with it.

Apparently people are scared that I will destroy them in the trade? Cause I have in the past? God...every deal I have made the stats and the numbers were balanced at the time. And every deal I have made was NEGOTIATED...save the one this year where whoever it was could EASILY have asked for more and maybe got it from me...but did not.

Maybe people don't want to trade with you as they don't think you have good enough players that they want. I've taken a look at your team quite alot trying to work out a deal but i've not been able to, hence the reason I haven't made one. The deal you offered me earlier in the year was quite comedic, I can't remember if I responded or not, but it really wasn't a good deal. Maybe i've made the mistake of having one eye on getting a keeper player in most deals I make but I look at your roster and see 3 players that jump out at me. When I sit with a 9-11 record I kinda look more to next year as I have a pretty strong keeper set that I look to make stronger.

I think there are about 6 active owners, if the other's followed suit then it would be better. I personally really enjoy the league and the lack of trades doesn't really bother me, if people wanna trade, people wanna trade. I've had a few negotiations with some people about trades but they haven't worked out, fair enough, everyone obviously has their own opinion on the guys we have.

And yes the league is "Pointless", it's just a bit of fun between a group of guys. I really enjoy the league. I hope it continues next year and more on after that.

Also, why would someone actively seek to trade away Hartnell. Unless they got a big return back, if that's possible. (They wouldn't be "freaking stupid" to do so though).

Nice Getz. Again showing your brilliance. I love it when a middling-bottom team chirps a team at the top or near the top. Seems to me my boys are there every year. Not sure how that happens with naff players....but yeah you are right...that is all I have naff players. In three years, lost to you once out of what 7 games? Ha. Horrible.

Maybe if you want to win in this league...you should actually realize your players who constantly cause you to lose, are not as good as you think they are and start valuing them appropriately.

Oh well...its too bad....you are one of the reasons this league is not as competitive as it could be. The top 5-6 teams are great, and we work a ton with each other. But you are not among that group really.

You rank behind me in 8 out of the 12 categories...but your guys are worth more than mine. Yep...in assists and shots. The other two you are ahead of me in? PPP and SHP. Wow.

ETA: Not asking him to actively shop Hartnell. We have had several discussions about him in the past, so was kind of kidding around with him in my note. He is clearly one of the most valuable players in the league since he brings just about everything to the table.

Also, this league needs more people who "Get" fantasy hockey. That it is not all about goals and assists, or shots. Iggy was awesome in the old league format (rotisserie) but in head to head...he is not as valuable. Guys who are consistent are more valuable than those who are not. My guys? even Marleau who I hate, are consistent.

I am in the middle in virtually every stat, and you are just below me or just above me in most....yet I am way ahead of you in the standings. Clearly my players suck rocks.

And I fully expect to collapse in the playoffs...as always. But i have beat every team in this league except Corinthians for some reason, at least once this season. Pretty sure you cannot say the same.

I like you batdad, I really don't want you to leave the league. I got promoted from the other league this season and I showed how green I was when I botched up the keepers. (All I had to do was ask the guys how to set them up!) Anyway, I'm still learning and am always open to trades but sometimes I'm not sure how they benefit me. That's why I wish you would play at least one more season. Maybe we can all work together to make sure everyone in this upper-level league is actually going to participate every day. How long does it take to set your players up for the day? I look everything over in the morning over a cup of coffee.

I really think I have (had) a strong team this season (even without Luongo). But unfortunately I've had a ton of injuries at the worst time. I've been destroyed the last 3 or 4 weeks in a row. I just hope I can stay in the playoff hunt because my guys just might get hot at the right time...

THanks Timmy, although I really do not care whether people like me or not. I call spades spades. There are guys I have alot of respect for. There are guys I don't. Any time Getzlaf gets involved in trade discussions, he gets whiny that he is getting ripped off, and that the trading partner is not offering enough....especially if it is me. I think in the first season I took him to the cleaners on a trade, and since then....if I offered him Gretzky, Dryden and Lemieux for Howe, Geoffrion and Steen, he would automatically assume I was offering Brent, Dave and Jocelyn for Gordie Bernie and Thomas....and not Wayne, Ken and Mario for Marty Blake and Alex.

And he would tell me that those guys were not a good deal because he needs defensemen :-D

Now I love working on deals with Marsac, Manimal and Catchup....the negotiation is fun there. Noone else will negotiate...just accept and reject. Corinthians does a little bit.

But..noone else does. Lidas did when he was around. Everyone else just leaves it and walks away. There are only so many times a person can work deals with the same two people.

Yeah...trading is not what it is all about for sure. I have enjoyed finding free agents like Henrique, Callahan, Doan, O'Reilly...and last year Brian Boyle etc.

But it is just not the same as working out a deal.

I love the fact that I don't attend the draft at all...and the computer picks for me and I have a team well above many of the guys (that not being at the draft includes year 1 which I left after 2 picks I believe)

anyway....moving on. L

Lets see how many responses we get to this question. It will help guys like me and Catchup decide if we want to come back to the league.

List your team name, your name, your players and how you acquired them (including year) If you took over a team, and the guy was a keeper just let us know that.

Sancouver Sentinals formerly Burnaby Ice, Batdad,

Players

Jeff Carter-Trade 2010-11
Brooks Laich-Draft 2011
Adam Henrique-Free Agent 2011-12
Jason Arnott-Free Agent 2011-12
Patrick Marleau-Draft 2009 (1st draft)
Rene Bourque-Trade 2009-10
Brandon Prust-Free Agent 2011-12
Teemu Selanne-Draft 2011
Shane Doan-Free Agent 2010-11
Ryan Callahan-Free Agent 2010-11
Alex Burrows-Trade 2011-12
Jordan Caron-Free AGent 2011-12 (will be gone soon, just there til Versteeg back or b4)
Brent Seabrook-Trade 2009-10
Lubomir Visnovsky-Draft 2010
Sami Salo-Free Agent 2011-12
Kevin Bieksa Trade 2011-12
Zybenek Michalek-Free Agent 2011-12
Dmitri Orlov Free Agent 2011-12
ANdrei Kostytsyn Draft 2011
Ryan O'Reilly Free Agent 2011-12
Kris Versteeg Draft 2011-12
Roberto Luongo-Draft 2009-10
Anti Nielmi Draft 2011
Ray Emery-Free Agent 2011-12

So for me

2 draft picks 2009 (Luongo, Marleau)
1 draft pick 2010 (Visnovsky)
3 draft picks 2011 (Niemi, Kostitsyn, Laich)
5 through trade (Carter 2010-11, Burrows 2011-12, Bourque 2009-10, Seabrook 2009-10, Bieksa 2011-12)
12 Free Agents (9 this season, and Shane Doan, Ryan Callahan and Teemu Selanne in 2010-11)

So you can see my roster has changed over a ton from the first draft.

My keepers last season were Luongo, Seabrook, Visnovsky, Lidstrom, Doan, Carter, Marleau, Bourque,Selanne, Callahan. 2 original draft picks, 4 original keepers still on my roster) In year one....only had 6 keepers ...so 2 original keepers are gone---Lidstrom this year, and Iginla.

Year two kept 6,3,1....I have my goalie, 2 of the 3 dmen, and all 6 forwards still on my roster. However, one of them will not be a keeper this year (Bourque) and Bieska will be in to replace Mr. Lidstrom. Bourque will become Burrows and Selanne will become Henrique. Doan may go out for O'Reilly.

Curious to see how many others will post their teams history

My seasons: 2009-10 1st overall, lost in finals.
2010-11 2nd or 3rd overall, lost in semis to the champion...who timmy t, is proof a team can get hot at the right time and come out of nowhere. I think he finished 7th last year old Sura Sloppy Slippers.

One trade down and it took under a day. It proves that trading is still possible, no doubt.
I just put my hope into a young Toews and a slightly more goals scoring Wideman and wish Franzen luck with a red hot Zetterberg and the ever so consistent Suter. I needed to change some things up and I think this will be good for the future as Wideman should get better numbers as Caps improve and Toews is one of the bet young players in the league and got a nice scoring touch.

HC Franzen (Named after yours truly and not Johan Franzen)
Tim Frantz

I got promoted this season after winning the Octavian Hockey League last year. I played a year of Yahoo fantasy hockey in 2005/2006 but I'm still figuring out what makes a good fantasy player. The biggest lesson I learned was about the keeper system. I lost Kiprusoff (I thought it was Luongo) because I botched my keeper selection. (UGH!)

Anyway, here's how my team looks right now:

Original keepers that I inherited (out of the 10 I started with):

Alex Ovechkin
Evander Kane
Chris Stewart
Shea Weber

Players I drafted:

Olli Jokinen
Eric Cole
Tuomo Ruutu
John-Michael Liles
Joffrey Lupul
Corey Crawford

Free agent pick-ups:

Chris Kelly
Brayden Schenn
Jussi Jokinen
Colin Greening
Mikael Samuelsson
Francois Beauchemin
Luke Schenn
Jordan Leopold
Travis Hamonic
Chris Higgins
Matt Hackett
Brian Elliott

Trades (visualdarkness offered Suter and Zetterberg for Toews and Wideman):

Ryan Suter
Henrik Zetterberg

My team is at 24 players because Lupul is on IR.

Well I see no purpose in writing my roster here but if you're interested you can check history of my team here.

I've been playing this league for two seasons and I'm enjoying it so far. I was relegated in 2011 but due to lack of managers I stayed in MHL.

What prevents me from being as active as previous season is the transaction limit reduced to just 4 per matchup.

Oh, and last thing: Prague Dead Parrots, McQwak. Correct, teacher? :-D

I need RW's, decently scoring and PIM is a nice bonus. No need to be top end. Peverley seems to be gone forever and I go with one empty spot on the RW.
