It's allowed in this challenge.

4. Let's say a player becomes the veteran age midway through the year. Can we trade them midway through the year or are we only allowed to make trades in the offseason?

3. In this challenge each season starts June 15th. So as of June 15th 2017, you're allowed to trade one player that is under 28 years old. Then the next season starts June 15th 2018. One player under 27 years old may be traded at that point.

4. You may trade a player at any time during the season. If they reach the veteran age during the season, you can go ahead and trade them.

greetings, I have just started challenge 40, and have a few queries, 1st, can I sign the AHL star players Bowman & Lashoff to the NHL team, or are they classed as UFA's, also, what is the situation with open training camp attendees, can I sign them, and finally for now, can my AHL farm sign free agents, for me to bring up gto the NHL?? Thanks :)

You may not sign UFAs. If a player is under contract to your team but assigned the your AHL affiliate, you may call them up to your NHL rosters. You may sign free agents to your farm team if you've also added a GM to control your AHL affiliate, but that doesn't make them a player that you can bring up the the NHL. Open camp attendees just fill spots in camp. They are UFAs and you cannot sign them.

Thanks for the clarification.

In responding to a comment on the HF EHM Board (wondering if the game makes it easier to win for human controlled teams) I used some data from recent Challenges, and I thought it might be interesting to Challenge participants, so I'm sharing it here as "feedback"

Rangers Challenge Year 1
- 11 of 22 made the playoffs
- No team won the Cup (one team lost in game 7 of the SCF)
Rangers Challenge Year 2
- 8 of 15 made the playoffs
- 4 teams won the Cup

Bruins Challenge Year 1
- 6 of 19 made the playoffs
- 1 team won the Cup (two teams made the SCF)
Bruins Challenge Year 2
- 5 of 13 made the playoffs
- 3 teams won the Cup

Sharks Challenge Year 1
- 11 of 21 made the playoffs
- 3 teams won the Cup (4 teams made the SCF)
Sharks Challenge Year 2
- 6 of 14 made the playoffs
- 2 teams won the Cup (3 teams made the SCF)

Canucks Challenge Year 1
- 7 of 28 teams made the playoffs
- 4 teams win the Cup
Canucks Challenge Year 2
- 9 of 22 teams made the playoffs
- 3 teams win the Cup (5 teams made the SCF)

Seems to show that while some can win right away the majority don’t, which seems right/OK to me.....

I feel like I've asked this since EHM came out, but for the life of me can't find the answer.

I'm currently down to two healthy goalies (and Aubin is out a month). I know the really old rules were you could sign a UFA that was "Good" rep or lower in the event you need a backup, is that still in place or what should I do if I end up with one goalie (grey backup?)

As long as you have one real goalie to play, it's okay to assign a "grey" goalie as backup.

Short question to recently started Challenge #43:

Are we allowed to trade for picks in upcoming draft only or can I make for example following trade:
My two players for 2nd rounder 2004 + 2nd rounder 2005 from same team

Ah, good question. I'll have to edit the post with the rules. It should be for only the upcoming draft.

If anyone has already made a trade involving a future pick, we'll let that slide.

Would signing a player who is currently contracted to an affiliate team count as a free agent signing?

Yes. If they're not a player you currently own the rights to (shown on the player's information tab), they're a free agent.

Help ASAP would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm in the June of 2004 in Chicago Challenge and I started taking the screenshots when I noticed something odd. In my trades window there is false player names in two of my trades. It says I've traded for Mark Norin and traded away Brendan Wolski (in two different trades) when I traded for Marcus Nilson and traded away Brendan Witt. In both cases this same false info is also on the player's history page. What should I do? Do I take screenshots from the player pages too?

Wow! That is bizarre! You could take screenshots of them in case anyone calls it into question but as far as I'm concerned, you should be all set. You've been around long enough that I can take your word for it.

If possible posting on the SI EHM Bugs Forum and uploading your game would be helpful, so Riz can take a look and hopefully fix whatever went wrong

Brand new to challenges (Hawks will be my first) and had a quick question. When you decide who won, is it just based off the first season? Or how quickly the team improves?

It's a combination of things it takes into a account improvement from previous seasons and performance in the current season.

So everything played before the deadline will be taken into account?

I'm not sure if I follow you. You play each season, log your stats each quarter, and post your screenshots at the end of the season. There's formulas that work out the rest. Formulas that I don't really know but Archi has programmed to calculate for us. Honestly, just do your best.

I think it depends on how many people play a full season (if you're the only one that played a season, points/awards wouldn't be given)

In the current Challenge so far there are people that have played 4 complete seasons http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/challenge.php

You can see here how many seasons were played in previous Challenges http://www.ehmtheblueline.com/forums/ch ... _index.php (it seems enough participants play at least 4 seasons almost always, sometimes a couple/few more...the last Challenge seems to have set the record for most seasons played, by quite a bit!)

Hi, pretty new to the Challenges so not sure if this has been asked earlier...

I feel like the max UFA contract value should be adjusted. The rules for Challenge #44 allow 2 UFA signings at $525 K, which is actually below the minimum contract of $575 K.

I think it should be adjusted to 2 UFA signings at somewhere between $750K - $1 mil, or 1 UFA signing at somewhere between $1.5 - $2 mil.

I played Challenge 43 just for fun, the contract rules seemed perfect. You could sign two depth guys or one useful player for those amounts, but the cap of $34 mil was basically half of what it is in Challenge 44.

It's a struggle to sign even an NHL-calibre player for $1 mil, let alone someone useful. A washed-up fringe player like Shawn Thornton, Brooks Laich, Chris Neil or Steve Ott is about all I can find.

I guess I misjudged what the current minimum contract is. I'll adjust this for the next challenge.
