It's not exactly the right screen but it's close enough if it includes the actual trades. It's just much simpler if people include the trades screen.
Oops.

My bad fellas.

The year 2001 is off to a horrible start... 7-12-1 so far. :dunno: Boumweester and Nash in this upcoming draft though...

Reached the first 20 games, not so bad with a 6-12-2 record.

Alexander Selivanov played really well, with 11 goals in 20 games.
On the other side, Stéphane Richer isn't able to produce, with 3 assists in 20 games :dunno:

Also, Winnipeg Jets now have a great record of 0-20-0, Bruce Driver is their best player with 6 points :-? :-?

**EDIT : On the 22nd game, Darcy Tucker (who played great on my second line) injure himself for two months

Maybe I should add a few more players to WIN, MIN, CBJ for the next release.
I hate fake players, so I don't wanna add a lot of them to these teams. :dunno: You probably understand what I'm getting at.

Oh yeah, the chaos of the first offseason of an EHM game.

Tampa:

Draft:
I had a hard time balancing what the game is telling me and what I know about players. Made a few deals to get guys that I think will work out, and really sped up the turnaround timeline.

1st Round (3)= #1 ranked going into the draft, Daniel Sedin (LW, SWE, Modo) - I didn't expect this Sedin to drop down! Compares to Naslund or a more talented Brunette. Injury prone, but that's a risk I'm willing to take for his talent for sure. He will likely start the season in Tampa, outside chance he goes to the AHL if he isn't ready, but I doubt it.

3rd Round (63)- #34 ranked Pavel Brendl (RW, CZE, Calgary (WHL)) - Lots of different comparisons from Brett Hull to Selivanov. I'm not sold that I didn't screw this one up, but my scouts comparisons and "Tons of potential" comments sold me. A lot of development for him to do (not even AHL ready), so hopefully this one turns out long turn.

3rd Round (65)- Unranked Toni Lydman (LD/RD, FIN, HIFK, 21 years old) - overage, but again my scouts couldn't stop drooling, so i traded Michal Sykora for the pick (SYkora wasn't bad, but was in a logjam and I like Lydman more). Compares to 37-year old Chelios (I'd prefer 27 year old Chelios...). My scouts think he's ready for the NHL now, and I think he'll make the team for sure.

5th Round (123)- Unranked Mark Streit (RD/LD, SUI, Davos, 21 years old) - overage, and another that I wanted and was crossing my fingers I could skip a few picks and he'll still be there. Compares to Rafalski and Van Impe, so not as high by the scouts. Very offensive so he should be a great point man for us. Not quite NHL ready, so hopefully he'll agree to a favorable AHL contract (Two-way and 'hot prospect') until he's ready.

6th Round (157)- Unranked Samuel Pahlsson (C, SWE, Modo, 21 years old) - overage. Traded up to get him (cost me my 6th and 7th). Hopefully will fit the defensive center role well (and with the current roster, has a chance to make it now in that role...). Like Streit I'm hoping to be able to get him in the AHL to start.

Trades
McCarthy and Wilkinson to PIT for Aubin- hopfeully Aubin is a long term goalie solution. This was simply my heart trying to make up for Hedberg chasing him out of town.
Ciccone and Elich to NSH for Brunette- need shooters on the wing for my preferred system, and he's not too bad at that.
Selivanov to SJ for a 3rd, Petrovicky to CLB for a 4th, Ysbaert to MTL for a 4th, Cullimore to MIN for a 4th, Hewer to WPG for a 4th, Delisle to COL for a 4th. All guys who would need to clear waivers, or don't have potential for picks. We'll see if I can turn my 4th round mass into something, or just pick 15% of the 4th round.
Hulak and Wilkie to WPG for Bret DeCecco. At the trade time, I had three scout reports, one "depth", two "key". By the end of the summer he was a depth guy like Richer (ouch). May have screwed that one up.
Corey Schwab and a 2nd rounder to BUF for Michael Peca. :joy: This was reacting quick to a news item that he was being mentioned in deals. If Peca is done growing, he's already Selke material, and had 60 points last year. If he grows... OH BOY. No idea why BUF wanted him out. They reacted strange and RELEASED Hasek in Auguest, they have Roloson, signed Tim Thomas, traded for Schwab... there's only one net!

Around the league
Since the historic factor is fun to me:
Forsberg, Hasek (just released) and Bure still free agents on August 8th. I think they priced themselves out of the budgets, as there hasn't even been news of offers or interested teas listed.
Biggest signings of note: Kolzig to EDM, Potvin to WSH, Linden to DET, Nieuwendyk to NJ, K. Hatcher to CAR, Mathieu Schneider to ANA, Berard to VAN,

I'm ready for the NHL 2000 patches everywhere, and will have some tough training camp calls. Per my team report, my lineup would be:

Potvin- Aubin

Cross- Lydman
Kubin- Dykhuis
Bannister-Mara
Streit-Skopinstev

Tucker-Peca-Renberg
Zamuner-Vinny-Richer
Brunette-Langkow-Anderson
Clark-Pahlsson-DeCecco
Borderline: Nazarov, Sedin, Cullen, Richards.

Just post the screen shots that you can get now. Your last save was on the 71st game. It shouldn't be that different.

Didn't saw your post at time, as I re-played till the season's end on the save which was at 71 games.

I finished with 32-44-6 when my game screwed up.
On my re-simulation I finished with 33-42-7...

So I don't have the screens at the 71st game as I saved many times over this save

No, let it be like its now! For me all those teams has done a good job going in the 3rd seaon, and they will rebuild with draft and free agents.
Minnesota has a really talanted first line, Daniel Sedin-David Vyborny-Marian Gaborik.

Edit: My team, going in to my third season..

Richards-Savard-Renberg
Tucker-Lecavalier-Orszagh
Zamuner-Pahlsson-Selivanov
Clark-Petrovicky-Antipov

Cross-Kubina

Q1 in season 2 is in the books, 6th in the east with 12 wins. Overall i'm quite happy with the progress the team is making, i've made some tweaks along the way such as moving Lydman-Dykhuis down to the 3rd pair and swapping Tucker down to the 2nd line and Zamuner up to the 1st to get some balance. Tucker had a rough start, as did Vinny, after the line swap both got going much better, Vinny up to 7+7 after having 5 points in his first 13 games. Selivanov and Daigle have been happy surprises with 7+7 and 4+7.

Tom Poti is just as much of a steal as i though, he's so good. At 22 he's playing first pairing minutes and has 11 points and a 7.45 Av R and leads the team in +/-. Puppa is solid but not great, will probably look to adress the long term goalie situation next off season, either in the draft or by trade.

My AHL team is doing great and i have 5 players above PPG, among those are 18 year old Dany Heatley and defenceman Paul Mara, the future looks bright. Richards is also lights out in juniors.

That's okay. It's not a huge difference. Post the screenshots from your re-simulation but we'll go with your originally posted stats.

This is probably a very stupid question but is there a way to remove the ''TBL Challenge'' manager? I loaded the given save and I just assumed he was supposed to be there but now it's getting a bit annoying having to click 'Continue' with this manager as well.

I'm not logging stats, but over the course of 3 seasons, I racked up a grand total of 32 wins. Then I had a season where I missed the playoffs by 7 points.

I'm doing horrible. I get slayed every year. Sometimes I go through promise for like a couple games, then it's all downhill.

MWE... you're not allowed to trade for Player's Rights. You're only allowed to trade for contracted player. That Berard deal isn't allowed. Do you have a save going back to before trading for him?

20 games into season 2, and it's been stressful.

Since my last post, we traded for JP dumont (needed to dump a waiver eligible Steve Kelly). The stress was the lack of resigning by three players: Puppa, Richer and Peca (RFA). I'm trying hard to lock up 8-10 years with Peca, as I really don't want him to be a UFA at 29 or 30. Richer isn't getting any real interest, but when you'r eon pace for 41 goals, I'm going to keep trying. Sadly, he has less interest in resigning now that teams are interested in him. I have one or two in game weeks to trade him or risk letting him walk. Puppa wants 4 million, and he simply hasn't been that good. I tried to talk him back to 2 million, then tried to trade him (which ironically teams said his 2 million contract meant he was overpaid.) Finally had to give into a poor deal and trade him for GIron, just so I got something for him instead of him walking away.

20 games in we are 8th in the conference, and things are starting to look good. The team is playing the way I want (lots of PP's, very few PK's), but I want to fix the 71% PK!!!

Richards grew a point in each category from the end of camp. It's looking better, now just to keep an eye open for deals, and let this very young team grow. (Average age 24.3)

We'll have to tack on some sort of penalty.

You can only trade for contracted players and draft picks in the 2nd round or later.

I have also traded for a player right, i didnt know it wasnt allowed.. I read the rules, and it only said "UFA signings are not allowed!"
Im in the start of season 3, and my singing was after season one.. What to do now? The only save before i made the trade is the start of the challenge.

We'll have to hit you with a penalty too.

Just to reiterate the challenge rules...
bruins72 wrote:
The rules for the challenge are as follows...

  • No trading in season 1!
  • Trading opens once the 1998/1999 Stanley Cup Finals are over. After that, you're allowed to trade at any point the NHL allows you to.
  • You may not trade for anyone over the age of 25. You are allowed to keep your older players and resign them though.
  • Trades can not include 1st round draft picks or unsigned prospects.
  • No more than 2 assets can be involved on either side of a trade. This means you're allowed 1 for 1, 2 for 1, 1 for 2, and 2 for 2 deals.
  • UFA signings are not allowed!
  • Waivers claims are not allowed!
  • You may re-sign your own RFAs and impending FAs at any time. ie If your team currently owns the NHL rights to a player, you can offer them a new contract.
  • Non-Playing Staff may be hired and fired at will.
