Hmmm... in season 2, so...

McGinnis has quietly been a decent player both years - inconsistent, but can be a game-breaker. Stoddard has grown into his own this year - possibly my 2nd or 3rd best forward... who almost all suck (I'm sure a lot of it's coaching lol!) FGC is inconsistent, Sparling plays well but can't produce, and KGC sucks. Veysey was a surprise this season , but pulled a Kobasew and went cold after the first 20 games... I used Leduc in the 1st season as we had 0 speed, but we're faster this year, so...

I found a goalie in free agency after the first season - Dustin Butler - I only got him for one year as a cushion to get some G prospects - but he turned out better than Joyal! Possibly the best EHM pickup I've ever made! He just got signed by the Blackhawks.

The defence is killer - three of the top six goalscorers are D-men - Grant, Sauve and Dominic Gionta (5th rounder!)... Grant had a hard time for me, but giving him PP and 1st line time - he snuck up in stats (just looked, he's 2nd in goals) - so maybe that's hope... and Amyot has played pretty well...

Anyway, now that you have my scouting report, LOL - my guys fizzle out at the end of the season, as you mentioned B72 - what can you do? Nothing is evident from conditioning, practice has been switched every 4-6 weeks, tactics rotate... is there something I'm missing?

I only made it to the second round. We ran into the Halifax Mooseheads who has had our number all year long. Took them to seven games, though, but my top players really dissapointed there. McGinnis got a 4-rating and Joyal a 6.
Now, it's on to the drafts. I need more scoring and a good young goalie.

I can't think of anything else to do, Mustardstew. I think it's a case of maybe they're overachieving for so long that they've got nothing left to give by the end? I just checked Dustin Butler in my game and he's currently with Kaloomps of the Western Hockey Leauge. I guess they must have released him in your game.

Oh, I got some awards from the season and came close on some others. Sauve was named to the All Star Team. My coach, Ekholm, was runner up for the Ron Lapointe Trophy. Joyal won the Jacques Plante Trophy. Sparling was runner up for the Jean Beliveau Trophy. Sauve won the Raymond Lagace Trophy, was runner up for the Michel Briere Trophy, runner up for the Guy LaFleur Trophy, and runner up for the Star Player Award. MacLellan was runner up for the Marcel Robert Trophy.

So weird...Leduc is putting up 5 ratngs for my farm team in year 2 and appears to have no shot of making the team. On my team report, Stoddard is ranked as the organizations #1 C and his attributes are starting to jump dramatically. However...he is still only playing like a 3 line center. Sparling and Marchand 1-2. Marchand has come on strong in his 20 year old year. So far in 20 games only 1 5 rating. So unlike his inconsistent self.

Well, I was able to, after encouragement LOL, able to cobble some tactics that got me a good playoff run... lost in OT of game 7 of the semifinals rrrrgh!

End of year notes to add
2007-2008
Sauve and Butler - All Star Team
Butler - Jacques Plante Trophy
Sauve - 2nd for Q Def. Player of the Year

and the team did well in the NHL draft - Sauve #4 by LA Kings =D> !! , KGC #23 by NYR, Stoddard #40 (2nd) by Pittsburgh, Sparling #169 (6th) by Atlanta

now I have the distinct un-pleasure of choosing between my 4 best players (all overage this year) LOL

#18: KGC, Philadelphia Flyers
#127: Ryan Sparling, St. Louis Blues
#132: Pascal Amyot, Atlanta Thrashers

I'm not so impressed with my QMJHL Selection Draft. I wasn't able to trade up, so I drafted 13th and 18th overall. Here is my haul...

13th (ranked 5th) Real Drouin LW
18th (ranked 11th) Colin Moore RW/LW
33rd (ranked 182 but all the goalies were going fast) Shay Tanguay G
66th (ranked 70th) Olivier Koo C/RW
90th (ranked 83rd) Wade Campbell RW
96th (ranked 138th) Ty Arris LD
126th (ranked 130th) Dean Cook LW
150th (ranked 165th) Justin Craig G
180th (not ranked) Bryan Barr RW
198th ((not ranked) Kelen Corkum C/RW
216th (not ranked) Keith Slater RD
234th (not ranked) Shawn Solon LD
252nd (not ranked) Josh Deacon RD

My last 5 picks were all unranked kids from the US. That's pretty much all that was left at that point. They were all interested in college but I think I'm going to lure a couple away to the Q. Bryan Barr looks like will sign. Josh Deacon may also. I'd like to get Kelen Corkum to sign but he's already committed to U of Maine, so I don't think he'll come.

I still have to do my import draft.

Barr and Deacon DID sign with us. I also completed my Import Draft. We got LW Robin Sjoren (who wants to play Major Junior) and RD/LD Nikita Dostovalov.

Yeah the import draft sucked for me that way too. I took a Finn and a Russian both wanting to play..neither has any interest. Oh well...I still have Stich and Voracek anyway!!

That's odd that they want to play Major Junior but won't sign with you. How many foreign players do you have under contract? Could it be tied to that?

The NHL did their draft. Grant went in the 1st, #26 overall. Stich went in the 2nd, #56 overall. Sparling went in the 4th, #97 overall.

Also, Charles Bergeron, one of my overagers last year, signed with Idaho of the ECHL.

i'm guessing i'm the only one with Steve Anthony on my roster? I think he was my first pick of the first draft, dude looked like a good Two Way forward in my game. I think he must be another guy with random potential because as a break in between i played my NHL save and dude looked like rubbish (No, i didn't look him up by the way, was looking to get a player and one of the teams had the rights to him and regarded him pretty high)

How are your guys on Stamina? first year was brutual but going into training camp most of my starters now have at decent stamina, certainly better then in the beginning. Other then that i was able to get extremely lucky and pick up an Overage Goalie that is IMO the best Goalie in QJMHL right now. Only got him because the other teams that offered would give up on him (dumbass AI). As for overages i guess i'm being realistic since i only have 3 on my team right now :joy:

No Steve Anthony is a stud in virtually everyone's game. If you got him either Quebec or you finished in dead last or 2nd last.

Stamina is fine with my team. Some idiots have trouble with back to backs (Marchand, Voracek) but other than that awesome!!!

Just traded KGC for another LW the same age as him. I hate KGC. And I am trying to dump my overaged Marchand.

Edit: Dumped on St. Johns for a 1989 17 year old dman named Boland.

I only got Stich as a foreign player, so it can't be that, it can be because they are signed to contracts for a team. :dunno:

Robin Sjoren, the LW I drafted in the import draft, has signed with me. He was with Chicago of the USHL for 15 games last season. So I guess the fact that he was already in North America showed that he was really committed to playing Major Junior. So now I've got my 2 foreign players I'm allowed.

I may be screwed this season. Joyal has signed with the Thrashers. Fullerton will have to be one of my overagers. I've got Justin Craig and Matthew Dopud both ready to transfer over on July 11th (2 days from the current date in game). They'll have to battle it out for the backup spot. No matter how you slice it, none of these guys is really prepared to be the starter. Fullerton started off very strong last season but fizzled after not long.

the goalie i ended up signing was Kyle Gajewski, best goalie in QJMHL in my opinion, only problem is the Panthers invited him for their training camp , so i have to start Dopud. Plus i have Stich at the camp for Florida as well, Grant over with the yotes for their camp and Sparling is with the sharks for their camp.

as for Anthony i got him at the 6th pick in the draft. According to the game Quebec finished as runners up in the QJMHL, i know we finished i believe 6th, and went out in the first round.

Right now i'm hoping the Panthers decide that Gaje isn't worth it and don't sign him on, because that kid is going to be the franchise this year, if he lose him i don't have enough trust in Dopud to keep us afloat, and if Dopud goes down....we are screweeeddddddd.

Gajewski

By the way is UFA signing not allowed til june or july? to be safe i waited til july to make any offers since i wasn't sure.

I think for UFA's its just the off season...but you should wait til July 1, because that is when all contracts expire. Why cannot I recall for sure?????

Anyway....I don't know how you got a pick that high if Quebec and you finished so high...did you trade up in the draft?

nope, i didn't really finish very high though, i made the playoffs but that was about it. I had 3 firt round picks though (this is using the TBL 1.5 DB) so i have no clue :dunno:

As for contracts thats for NHL, the QJMHL contracts end in the first year on June 15th I believe

You should have only had 2 first rounders in season 1. That is the max I believe.

quick edit (since can't edit on this forum, gotta make a new post) i had two first rounds picks, i forgot we don't have 30+ teams in the QJMHL  other then that we had the 6th and 16th picks in the first round, so Quebec must have been pick 16. I did finish 29-36-5 so it wasn't like we did good, we barely made it into the playoffs. Only reason we did is P.E.I and Acadie played terrible hockey.

As for the draft Anthony was a projected 3rd pick, but P.E.I took Travis Randall (projected 6th), Acadie took Kelen Corkum (projected 8th) and Drummondville took Gervais(projected 4th)

Despres went 1st and Dany Landry went 2nd

In the QMJHL draft I took a goalie, Patrick Wilson, and a d-man, Guylain L'Heureux. Wilson has signed.
In the import draft I choose two top class forwards but none wants to leave Europe, even though they had Wanting to play Major Junior on their info
