Im with you, its hard to walk away from this game!
Mason is really teasing my patience. 5 goals on 10 shots against the worst team in the league. I have considered moving him down to the AHL, but there is so little time left in the season that at this point I do not know if it really will do any good.
I just lost Selanne for a month with a fractured ancle, the one player I really did not think that i could afford to loose. Oh well, Ryan moves to the top line and Latendresse gets top two line minutes until the playoffs.

Those are just the minors... my Jets are doing good too, but I cant get them to perform as good as some other users can. I just can't get my D to work. Especially PK. Any suggestions?McQwak wrote:Well, after seeing such records, I'm sure I can't beat LidasLidas wrote:I've GM-ing (but not coaching) both Dayton and San Antonio. They are both tearing it up! Now I realized this, but it's a big fun playing with this database. Great setup story and the challenge rules! I tried to pause playing till the next day about 5 hours ago, but couldn't. And I'm still playing...

End of year one is done.
Lost in the first round of the playoffs to the mighty Red Wings. Goaltenders where actually pretty solid, they just ran me over.
I was in 4th until Mid March, then Selanne, Toews, Pitkanen, Smid and Tkachuk all went out with injuries of some sort. They where all back for the playoffs thou, so no excuses there.

I just had one heck of a game.
Screenshot!
Toews and Doan both had hat tricks. Selanne, Toews, and Tkachuk each had 5 point nights. Ruutu, Doan, and Keith each had 3 points. Wisniewski, Numminen, and Pahlsson each had 2 points. Mair had a fight and got the instigator game misconduct. It was just a great game!
13-1

How do you solve the problem with scouts' contracts expiring? They demand big money and my board doesn't allow me to offer them what they want. I found this thread here, but there is no conclusion.
Thanks.

I know, and I am actually against it, so wouldn't have done it anyway tbh... but in theory
Actually Tkachuk - Doan is good enough as it is, don't feel the urge to trade yet

I'm jealous of you guys in the compitition. I really wanted to play but high stress with stuff going on at home has not made me want to play ANY game at all. I've got 7 games I've never played before just sitting around and I'm not doing a thing with. Plus I haven't started EHM in over a month now.McQwak wrote:it's a big fun playing with this database. This challenge was perfect for me too.
Well keep on playing guys, I am enjoying watching from the sidelines anyway.

Sometimes you just can't re-sign them.McQwak wrote:How do you solve the problem with scouts' contracts expiring? They demand big money and my board doesn't allow me to offer them what they want. I found this thread here, but there is no conclusion.Thanks.
If you really want that particular scout just wait until July 1st and he'll probably sign for less than you originally offered him. It's one of the quirks of the game.

Well, I am finally back home and looking forward to this challenge! Dig the story, the Jets, and the changes to the DB and the rules...
Is it me, or is the team pretty stacked - based on all the exhibition blowouts
So, as for what I have done:
Mason starts the season in the AHL. I want him to play as much as possible - and give my farm team and players a taste of winning. I could have sent him back to juniors, but we have no goalies as it is, AND he is better than junior skill level, IMO.
I sent everyone else back (besides Toews)...
Looks like my top two lines will be:
Doan - bag of pucks (Steen) - Selanne (hell, I could play there and get 50 points LOL)
Tkachuk - Toews - Ryan / Latendresse
after that... still working it out...
Anywho - thanks for the challenge, and here's to getting much further than last challenge!!
Cheers!

Closing in on the 20-game mark, and I'm having a blast with this team. We're playing over .500 hockey right now, but things got off to a rough start when we lost Pahlsson for almost the first month of the season. While not having the same success as some others early on, the future definitely looks bright.
Toews has risin to the challenge centering the first line with Doan and Selanne. Through the first month, he led the league in points with 26 (7g, 19a). Somehow he was not named ROM.
Backstrom has cemented himself as my #1, with Mason struggling early on. I'm giving him time though. Meanwhile, Crawford (6-0-0, 2.01 GAA) and Bernier (4-1-0, 1.81 GAA) are tearing things up for San Antonio and Dayton respectively.

That was me. I used him as RW in 2nd line most season (Tkachuk-Ruutu-Steen) and he got one point per game, averaging around 8 in rating. But now I use Latendresse there and Steen is 4-5th center. And I suprisingly made it from 8th seed to SC finals against Devilsbruins72 wrote:I thought I saw somebody else using Steen on one of their top lines too. Interesting idea. I don't know if I'd try it though. I ended using him on my 4th line until he got injured. Still, he could be okay. He's not a bad player.

Toews and Steen are sharing 1st and 2nd line duties for me. The one with highest moral gets the top spot.bruins72 wrote:I thought I saw somebody else using Steen on one of their top lines too. Why can't I ever come up with working tactics? No matter what team, no matter what players, it's always the same ol' story. First match is fine, and from that point it goes down, down, down.
Seriously, with exception of 6-1 win, they scored 3+ goals against me like...in last 15 games. I allowed 126 goals in just 35 games. I changed my tactics three times, and it's always the same...first game looks good and that's about it. I was 11-6-3 in my first segment, and now I am 4-9-2 in my next 15 matches. All of my players are slowly going under 0 +/-. Doan is -5. Toews is just +2.
