It's a fact that the medias always make things bigger when you're talking about the ''4 goals a game''. Some people who know less hockey than somes can easily be fool by this. ( I don't want to insult anybody though
) Everyone can have their own opinion, but TV and radio show are always exagerated everything......just like with the Canadien here.

yea sure, cause I mean, Alexander Daigle could break Gretzky's point total in the OHL, most points in world juniors, mvp in world juniors, get draft a year EARLY in the OHL, be considered to get drafted a year early into the NHL, play major midget when he was in Bantam...pretty much the same player.batdad wrote:Tavares is alexander Daigle with a bigger attitude.

tavares? captain? haha
i have to agree with phil and batdad. tavares has alot to prove and only weight to work with up front. i dont follow the islanders that much so i dont know anyone else on the depth chart but witt and dipietro. the islanders still wont be much to look at for a little while longer. and i just dont see tavares getting that C. weight has the experience that a captain really needs.
ps. cam ward signed a 6 year extension. hopefully we can get another cup within that time.
pps. what happened to boston tonight? and colorado was amazing tonight. it made me sad to see sakic go.

Do you check only his stats? Remember that you don't know anything if you check only stats. In his first seasons, he was years younger than others, and in his last year he played with sameage players. And last year he played ok in Oshawa and after trade to London he started playin in his real skills. But he is not leader.... yet. Maybe you've to wait about 5 years and he will be Isles captain (if there's Isles anymore/or if he plays in Isles).philou21 wrote:I wouldn't torture you ehmfans. But i really think that Tavares will maybe not be the ''savior'' the Isles need. He's certainly good, but not as almost everybody thinks.
Like i said, when he came in the OHL he burnt everything, but with the years, he seems to have peak a little bit, look at his stats :
- First season, 45 goals, 32 assists for 77 pts.
-Second season, 72 goals, 64 assists for 134 pts
-Third season, 40 goals, 78 assists for 118 pts
-Fourth season, 58 goals, 46 assists for 104 pts
You see he got a good first season, a really outstanding second season but then, he seems to didn't maintain the rythm. I don't know, maybe he should do a year in the AHL, Tavares got the same travel as Rob Schremp, i don't think both of them are the same, but for now they follow the same path from the junior career to the NHL. Maybe Tavares will be sent to the AHL after a couple of games if he don't do anything good....like Schremp.
Plus, i don't know if i'm the only but....i didn't really hear of some oustanding performances from him in the training camp, i've heard of his ''first goal'' but not something like Tavares really impress everybody! He made 6 points in this game and score 4 goals in another! I know it's exagerated but i don't really feel Tavares for now.

I don't check only the stats, i don't see the points in the '' in his first season, hw was younger than others'', he still got good season no? The age doesn't matter, he was already kicking the but of the 2 year older than him but with time he seems to slow down a bit, we never heard from him like he his a true leader of something like this, we only heard, he's a goal scorer. That's what they want us to believe, i think, that's make him overated. Tavares will not be a superstar such as Ovy, Crosby, Malkin etc.....and in five years, he will still not be a captain i think.Jypfan92 wrote:Do you check only his stats? I was really disappointed with my Bruins last night. They had no fire. There was no spark there. They'd better get their head in the game by Saturday. They need to get a little revenge on Carolina!caniac wrote: pps. what happened to boston tonight? and colorado was amazing tonight. it made me sad to see sakic go.

Noooooooo....I realize that there are ABSOLUTELY NO points of comparison between Tavares and Daigle......None...at all.
(psst--it was soooooo hard to find a comparison point between those two I had to think for about 1/2 a second. I wonder...does anyone know which point in common they have?)
And no I don't mean the attitude "I am a god"

Yeah, they were. There are a few teams, Chicago, Minnesota, Philadelphia off the top of my head, that will be wearing old or new jerseys this season. Here's a link if you'd like to see them:selne wrote:Were the Flames playing in their old jerseys yesterday?

I couldn't watch the Bruins game. I can't stand Joe Benenati (play by play) telling me that the game is on Versus 10,000 times during a period, so I watched Montreal and Toronto on Hockey Night in Canada instead.bruins72 wrote:I was really disappointed with my Bruins last night. Caniac, I agree. But, I have a feeling that there won't be a whole lot of nights like that for my Avs

No... we weren't missing Kessel at all. There were enough girls in the stands. We didn't need any on the ice too.philou21 wrote:bruins72 wrote:I was really disappointed with my Bruins last night. I'll agree with that point. I was kinda hoping for the original mustard brown jersey that they wore when they first started.bruins72 wrote:I think they're a decent uni for a one time use. Thanks for the link, Laker2415. I really like the old Oilers and Flames Jerseys much more than their current ones.
It would be great to see the old Canucks jersey, too (the one with the skates).
