That too of course. There's a few in the off-season that I plan to target, and I'm not too concerned.

Yeah, a starting goalie is top priority.

I had some rough time in games 21-40, but for game 40 I decided to try a new tactic and manage to beat conference leaders Dallas Stars with 5-0, but after a bad form I'm in 15th after 40.

I wonder how easy it's going to be to land a goalie in the off-season as a UFA with that $2M limit.

Thinking trade route would be more realistic. Maybe get rid of some of these soft players I'm looking at? Preferably get a 4-6 Dman as a UFA.

I'll probably take a similar route but maybe go for a center instead of a Dman. I'm not sure though. I need to replace Staios for sure. He's old and ineffective. Surprisingly, Strudwick isn't doing too terribly. I suppose I could bring Smid up next season to replace Staios. Or if I wanted to put him in place of Strudiwick, I'd have to acquire a RD. If I decide to go for a center, I can ship out Gagner. There's lots to think about. We'll have to see how things play out the rest of the season.

Ten games in I sit 4th in the West, but just lost Deslauriers for three weeks.

On a positive note, Hemsky was named offensive POW:

4 games - 9 goals, 4 assists, +6. He has three hatties in four games.

Hemsky can be quite the player, huh? Impressive 4 game stretch!

While Deslauriers isn't the strongest goaltender, there is a huge difference between him and Dubnyk. Those three weeks are going to be ROUGH! He's out for a week right now in my game.

Avalanche was ranked 28th in my game. Not the last probably because they got Cheechoo. :-p Me, I'm 25th as well. Just started the regular season, and suffered to straight losses to the Flames. I hope it doesn't get any worse.

How's Penner doing on everyone's team? He's been a machine so far for me through 10 games, 10 G for 23 points. He's started off really hot, surprised, didn't expect much from him to be honest.

The whole world knows the Oilers goalies are bad. Not putting shots in but Milan Hnlicka and Martin Brochu (is why I thought of him in the hockey thread) have approached the team on the same day asking to play for Oilers. Ugh.

INteresting stat.

I have played 7 exhibition games. My record in those games is 3-5-0.

My three wins:

6-1 over Boston
10-2 over Detroit
8-0 over Los Angeles

What do these three games have in common? My goalie. His name...

OLIVIER ROY. Guess who got a contract and is starting the season with me.

OH yeah, in my 5 losses I have scored exactly 8 goals. I have given up 23.

So, the team seems to play for Roy. Not for the others. Lets see if that continues.

Wow. That's a shock, as a back up? He's tearing up the Q for me, hopefully play in the WJC. The Oiler's goalies are awful, though.

Penner is doing great and is up for both the goal and point scoring race in the league, I don't why he is so great every time.

I never get Hemsky to play up to his potential (p/g good seasons) and he will probably be traded, he just doesn't thrive on crash n' bang team.

I'm at new years eve and Horcs got the best off. player twice and Souray the best def. once.

Good to see another Challenge Started up.

First 20 games have sucked, Taylor Hall here I come

In a Funny note, I put Zach Stortini's Aggressiveness to Berserk, and threw 20 games he has 274 PIM.

Well done Zach!

I'm very slow at playing the game. Hasn't passed pre-season yet. I am spending lots of time with the Falcons, as well. Got them new staff. A Norwegian is their head coach! Geir Tore Myhre. Good stats. John LeClair and Joe Sakic are AC's and Brian Leetch is a scout for the team. It's always interesting to see which players turn out to be good staff members.

I haven't even checked the farm teams. Should I take over them and hire new staff?

Horcs got his first best off. player in the month award! Two best of the week and one of the month, he deserves his 9.50 grade.

I think so. It helps the players development, when you get them playing the way you want them to and under good coaches. It takes a little time, though. Especially for me, as I want to get everything right with personal tactics and such

My defense is usually bad - but without a goalie it's terrible!

20 games in, and I have conceded most goals in all of NHL. 83 goals in 20 games... :dunno:
