Re: Challenge 39 Rebuilding the Bruins - Discussion
Just starting and trying to sort out the staff in the farm.
While the hidden attributes mode is really interesting it suffers bad in a number of ways:
- The basically zero good ways to sort the staff when searching is and has always been a major pain in the butt.
- The same goes for players in the off-season after the stats page has been blanked out, being able to check lists from earlier seasons would fix that.
- A more advanced scouting view would help a lot during drafts, like choosing a scout who shows potential and current stars for each players plus stuff like player types

Re: Challenge 39 Rebuilding the Bruins - Discussion
Hey guys, I got the chance to jump onboard last night as well! However, while simming through the Stanley cup playoffs, I resigned both Talbot and Gustaffson.
I quickly placed them on waivers, when I realised it was against the rules, and released the afterwards. Would this be a problem? Can I continue my current save?

To me it sounds fine, it is just you losing money. I leave it to the masters though.

From season two you don't have to trade away the older guys, right?

It's really hard for me to pick the players, first time playing with hidden attributes...it's really hard :S
Almost with 60 games played and five players injured including Marchand, Zboril.
Watching the 2D game and i see my players dumping the puck constantly even with it settled with rarely and with good pass lines....in defense the same problem but with the players passing to where there's no one
Still last, 4 points behind and don't know what to do at this time.

I finished last too, picking up 69 points in 71 games (started the season with 11 defeats in a row). Calgary finished on 69 points too, but I ended up bottom of the league.
edit: I did win the Draft Lottery

Hah, Subban made the Rookie All-Star team. Krug made the First All-Star Team, with Rinne, Weber, Toews, Stamkos and P. Kane
Trades made so far in season 2:
Krug to Rangers for J.T. Miller, already the worst trade made in this challenge I guess. Krug is my 'non-veteran' trade, since he is 26.
Brad Marchand (29) to Sens, for their 2017 1st and 3rd pick. Marchand blocks the way for some talented guys, so he had to leave. Did not perform anyway.

I agree, on all points you've made. Staff searching is a b1@!h and scouts during draft was always a problem; however, I've never relied on my scouts for anything other than to finish off boring drafts. Re: Challenge 39 Rebuilding the Bruins - Discussion
I hate my scouts. They give players 1st line potential, but when I sign them they call them third liners and my assman hates them. I basically got scrap for guys like Krejci. This is the worst Ive ever seen and this wont be a fun challenge anymore.
Bergeron, Chara, Eriksson - Yakupov, Klefbom, Davidson
Rask - Sonny Milano, Ryan Murray
Seidenberg - Galiev, Siegenthaler
McQuaid - Lois Domingue
Krejci - Stranski, Janmark, Stephen Johns
Welcome to the team of third liners. We might have the capacity to play in the ECHL.
Dunno if I will play this challenge now.

I went for players I know, for the most part. I tried really hard to get Larkin, but it either costed me too much or I wasn't getting enough return (No Mrazek, Jurco, even 2 star defensemen like Sproul and Oulliet (Sp?)). Therefore, I ended it up with just 4 players coming in.

That was my plan one but I decided to put my trust in the Gretzky squad and got burnt bad.m0fownz0r wrote:I went for players I know, for the most part. Yes, I totally agree with you on that. The hidden attributes thing was something to try. Depending on what people think about (a poll at the end of the challenge?) we can decide if we want to do it this way again or not.visualdarkness wrote:Just starting and trying to sort out the staff in the farm.

Yeah. That's fine. As long as they're gone now and weren't used as trade assets, you're fine.m0fownz0r wrote:Hey guys, I got the chance to jump onboard last night as well! However, while simming through the Stanley cup playoffs, I resigned both Talbot and Gustaffson.

EHM always does that. Maybe I don't scout right, but that's how I feel all the time, both challenges and not: "This kid is the next Crosby!", draft him in the 1st round, two months later they think he may be a Jared Staal.visualdarkness wrote:I hate my scouts. On the other side, I'm loving the hidden attributes so far, because it's forcing us all to try things differently. As someone personally who gives up on challenge after challenge because it becomes tedious instead of fun (for me), I like the change.

For me he was signed to Stars, I traded for him on June 9th 2016, way before the first draft. Currently he has Entry level contract until 2018. When I check his history - achievements tab now, he was loaned to Swift Current on September 2015 - therefore he must have been under NHL contract in that time already.

Re: Challenge 39 Rebuilding the Bruins - Discussion
It isnt a critique against going with it for challenges, I am very pro it, but rather a lash at SI that som pretty simple stuff really needs improvement. This game mode is basically showing every glaring hole in the interface.bruins72 wrote:Yes, I totally agree with you on that. The hidden attributes thing was something to try. Oh boy, Matej Stransky who I got in the Krejci trade was of "limited potential" in the last report, rejected my contract, went RFA and signed a contract in the Czech Republic. I am a tad widdled off at him now.

And now the game crashed when I was going to save, resulting in that ALL my staff works an most of the re-signings are gone. ](./images/smilies/wallbash.gif)
