I picked more leagues to research.
I have one question about French junior league.. I see that there's U22 and U18 leagues in France, but in db there's Espoirs league which is U20.
So.. should I skip either one of these IRL leagues or do I call all juniors as a U20 espoirs team names?

First of all, my apologies for being so quiet in relation to this project. I have been spending all of my time working on updating various British leagues for Manimal's update in addition to doing work on the upcoming OOTP game. It has been pretty hectic (and still is).

Thank you to Stastny, Laz, JH06, Torgo and Reave for all of their research. I have imported it all into the database and have updated the most recent list (click here). I want to say a particularly HUGE THANK YOU to Lazion for all of his hard work. We now have over 50,000 new entries researched and Lazion has researched over 50% of them!

Once we have completed these, we should be able to wrap up this project for version 5.0. With so many histories already researched, I think this is going to be a really exciting update.

My American researcher had a very good reason for setting up two teams for the USNTDP. I just can't remember them now.

I sent in a sheet of only players who needed the team name update.

I had been hoping to get the next batch of player names uploaded last weekend, but unfortunately I had to spend most of my free time on fixing an error with the next roster update.

However, I have made a start on the histories today. The first step is to import the histories into the database. It is only once I have done this can I use the Updater to generate a new spreadsheet listing the remaining players that need their histories updating.

Unfortunately, when I imported the histories into the database, the Updater has reported errors with 2,626 entries. Reasons for the errors are:

• The team name entered does not match the list of teams included with the research spreadsheet (e.g. "Trenton Devils" were entered whereas it should be "Trenton Titans").
• The team name entered matched the list of teams, but it has since been renamed in the Manimal v5.0 Rosters (e.g. "AaB Ishockey" have been renamed to something else, but I haven't found out what yet).
• "Unknown team" has been entered as a team whereas this should have simply been left blank (or "_none").
• Some staff names and DOBs don't match what is in the database. This might be because things have since been changed/corrected in the database or it might be that they were incorrectly entered into the spreadsheet.
• Some competition names have been incorrectly entered or the competition doesn't exist in the database (e.g. Norway U18).
• For a number of goalies, no Games Played stats were entered (the history entries will not appear in game if there are zero games played).
• For a number of goalies, Save% was entered instead of Saves.
• There are quite a few entries with "0" entered as the year.

In total, I will need to fix 2,812 mistakes/errors. I think in these circumstances that we stop researching histories for the v5.0 release so that I can spend time fixing all of these errors. I am somewhat concerned about how long this task will take. Hopefully I can get it done in time for the release of v5.0, but I guess that depends on how soon the rosters will be released. Thankfully the vast majority of the errors relate to team names and so I'm hopeful I can at least go through that part quite quickly.

I don't mean to end this on a negative note, I just wanted to explain why I feel we should hold off researching any more histories until after the release of Manimal v5.

On a more positive note, it is quite astounding how much of the database we have been able to cover with this research. Not only have we covered the majority of playable leagues, but we have also covered a huge range of prospects and players on non-playable teams. A particular thank you to Reave, Torgo and Lazion who have each covered a huge amount of work. Once I have smoothed out these errors, the database will be in great shape come version 5.

With regards to the Norway U18s etc, I was wondering whether it's simply a case of asking Alessandro to add these leagues to the database. Would you agree?

AaB is now Aalborg Pirates.

If I remember correctly the missing Norwegian junior leagues are U19 and U17. Both leagues are 'defuncted' now and for 2012/13 season there's U20 and U18 leagues. I already created U20 in db, which should be linked into U19. I think that we can delete U17/U18 entries completely and change U19 to match U20 league+teams which are in db.
