Pretty psyched today as April opened her sixth Miss April Ink location: New York
As I mentioned she bought 'Big K' tats off of Justin and today was our first day open and I know five people who went in just to get ink today because of the opening so that was fun too.
And of course anyone in NY for the Fest that will still be around on the 22nd is invited to come to April & Odelia's wedding
My club rating is finally raising, and tickets are starting selling slowly.. wheew!!
Hope I can survive financially until I can make some $$$ with gigs.
Grrr maybe it was a mistake signing the recording contract with this new record company. It seemed like a decent deal as they were only starting off but now they're ignoring my PMs when I try to arrange a date to record a song. I'm now going to have to wait until I've written some new songs before I make a recording because they're starting to drop in popularity Am I bound to use just their recording studios because I've signed a recording contract with them?
Over the past week I've shot up from one to three stars in Basic Law. I'm gunning for five stars so that I can be Miss April's star lawyer Once I've got my five stars I'll start writing some songs.
I f i remember well, you can easily get rid of a contract without any financial penalty (contrary to real life)
About studios, you can record a song in another studio, but then will have to pay to record your song, while it's free in a studio owned by the company you have a contract with. In general, it's pretty expansive to do so. We did with Never Dies, and paid 1500$ to record just one track!
You can record always record anywhere... it gives you the flexibility to book to a revolutionary one instead of being stuck to just the one the company has actually. Check your booking assistant and you can check the cost/quality comparisons. Keep in mind genres are not in affect so the only thing that matters with studios is the quality not the genre.
Given the money you can make off your single with decent popularity 1500 isn't much at all. You have to pay 10,000 for the location rights to shoot a video, and it's from band cash so compared with having a couple hundred grand worth of equipment to get the five star rating... 1500 really isn't much. It costs over 600 bucks just to get our luxury rig from Nashville to New York We made over 40 grand on our last show and will probably top 500 grand on sales in our first month for our latest single, so 1500 to record a track... ehh

Holydogg is right, but Minty too 1500$ isn't a lot. But i never decided to record the track, another band member booked this without taking me informed. So it was 1500$ lost in a stupid way in a poor quality record that has never been released. At that time, it cost us 20% of the band money. A bit expansive for something that never served and wasn't initially in the pipes of the band That's why i remind it as expansive. But else you're right, it's not that expansive

Way to go guys! Now you need to tour smart and build your song popularities. Don't forget playing more than one in a town per popoyear (56 days) doesn't do anything more for your fame so look back at the tour schedule we used for the TDG Tour; hit as many different cities/countries as you can and then come back to record/regroup and do it again. TDG is on a roll but it's mainly because we've worked our butts off and have been touring nonstop pretty much for almost 4 years now...
Don't forget you you have to check ALL your songs before using the repertoire boost (which I think is the best usage of boost) because if you don't check em they don't get the boost which is a serious situation.
They're moving the DB to a different server right now so it will be down until tommorow afternnon they say... we'll see what wonders await us when it comes back up I guess. I hope it's not Popogeddon!

So as some of you may know - I'm in the Popo-verse as well - just not as active as some in this thread. I'm a solo act called The Redrum and I'd like to get some feedback from the Popo pros to see what I'm doing wrong.
This is how it's been going lately - none of my songs get ANY crowd response - even the ones that I save for the end and are supposedly my 'best' tunes. Since I've improved my showmanship, I only get stars for the stuff I'm doing between songs. What's the deal? Do I need to write new songs now that I've got 5 stars in composing and lyrics?
CatchUp: I think it's due to your low practice level in nearly all your songs. Also, get up to 5* in basic singing and learn lead singing asap (you just need 3* to learn, but mastering the basics is never a bad idea ). If you're supposed to play an instrument (are you lead singer/guitarist, or stuff like that?), then learn the skills for your instrument (and have your instruments, of course including a mic to sing )
And even if it won't have any incidence on the result of your shows: book your shows earlier!!! You'll sell a lot more tickets, and so we'll have more chances to have fans And well, it's always more entertaining to play in front of a large crowd
I'd also try to change your set a little. Break up all the songs with "events". You've got a few events in there now but you should break up the set a little more. You've got a ton of songs all in a row. Take a look at a TDG set. We go two or three songs, have an event, then songs again. You might need to learn some more skills to successfully pull off some events though. When you're setting up your events, just look for ones that don't really need special skills. Don't forget, you can use things from genres outside your own. We're a punk band but we do rock, modern rock, and general events too.
The stuff Shadd mentioned above is good too. I'd especially look at your repertoire. If your practice level is down it can really hurt you. TDG is running into a different problem with our songs now. We need to replace many of them because we've played them too much. We've been touring our tails off for the last 4 Popo years and people have heard our songs enough. They're getting sick of them.

Yup, 2 songs - 1 events combo is good. Also, put your best events in the last strecht of your gig, to help pleasing the crowd.
The key is to keep building your audience mood up... so you should be getting more stars (doing best events and best songs) toward the end if you have say two 2 star songs and then go back to a 1 star song your audience rating will drop so you want to keep building.
Practice level is key, but you can't jam your songs fully until you have 5 stars in your genre skill. As songs gain popularity they will start getting better ratings.
When picking events look at what they rely on. Pick ones that match your skills from the generals or the ones for your genre. Hard to get more than 2 to 3 stars for an out of genre skill.
