OK Season 2 team for CBJ not collapsing as of yet. I am soooo expecting it as Nash has slowed down dramatically (9 goals, but 15 assists in last 20 games). However, he has tons of points and Sundin is almost at 100 after 60 games.
I have already clinched a playoff spot, and I am 60 games in. Freaking scary.
The team is in the midst of an 18 game point getting streak. (Lost 1 game outright in game 42 and had an OT loss somewhere around game 52.)
However...Problem..No cup for me for sure. Why you ask?
I have now played up to game 62 and
my record against the east is
4 wins 3 losses 1 OT loss. Yep, half my losses basically to Eastern teams, and two of the four I won...I won in OT.
My goaltending, power play, and penalty killing stink. I cannot believe I have the record I have. Don't quote me cause I am not checking the stats right now..but I believe I am something like 50-6-4. Frightful...
Oh well..onward to the collapse. I know I am gonna lose to the Islanders next. And they are in last. I just sent them back Trent Hunter, and Christian Erhoff as well as some prospect rubbish for Bates, Martinek, and the Isles 1st rounder. Oh yeah, did I mention the Isles are in last.
Gaustad went to Washington along with a prospect or 2 for Chris Clark.
In the minors I have Marc Staal, Sami Lepisto, Sergei Mozyakhin, Pascal Pelletier, Chris Bourque and the evil Jody Shelley waiting a call for the last 10 games or so when I will goon it up since I have the spot clinched and can rest some guys. I have Angelo Esposito, Patrick Kane, Jordie Deagle and Egor Averin and Tommy Cross in junior/College.
So far so good with injury...only Martinek in his 2nd game has gone down. I know I am speaking too soon, and fully expect to lose all my forwards since my depth there sucks.
Lines
Nash-Sundin-Zherdev
Modin-Handzus-Brule
Bates-Conroy-C. Clark
Picard-Pettinger-Worrell
Dawes
Worrell hardly plays, just when I need a fight win. Dawes dresses way more often.Worrell is 7 for 7 in fights since I picked him from waivers. The centres, Brule, Bates usually dress in that 4th line C spot, and since I coach I rotate it around. Worrell averages about 1 minute per game. Unless he cannot find a dance partner.
Pitkannen-Phaneuf
Vanaanen-Sarich
Kukkonen-Martinek
Kloucek
Toskala
Nitty
So onward to the great plummet. Well at least I cannot plummet out of the playoffs! I am in love with this team.

Double post. Sorry.
So in the second season's last 22 games of Season 2 the BJ's actually lost a few. 4 in a row at one point. I knew it could not last. However, we ran away with the President's Trophy and went on to win the Cup over NJ in 6 games. The Canucks, funny enough were the toughest challenge. It took Luongo getting injured in game 6, to allow the Jackets to come back and win game 7.
Oh, and I am extremely proud of the fact that I had a 100 pt line in this game, sans Mr. Ovechkin.
Sundin 45-82-127 (80 games)
Nash 58-59-117 (82 games)
Zherdev 47-53-100 (78 games)
I also did this playing on Normal for my forward lines for most of the season. I think a little bit in the first half I had on Overload. Sundin averaged 21 minutes, Nash 20, and Zherdev 16.5 minutes per game.
Sunding scored 42 points in the playoffs, and became the first non North American team captain to hoist the Stanley Cup.
Although clearly he is overrated in the game, Mats, Nash, and Zherdev established some amazing chemistry. Helped to play mostly with Pitakannen and Phaneuf on the blue line.

Nice!!
Congrats on having a non-Crosby or Ovechkin 100point line, that's Challenge EHM for ya
My team in the second season is smoking along too but we are constantly battling 7-10 day injuries and the affect on chemistry and consistency is really starting to show, but we've also has some real surprises from people filling in on injury duty so while frustrating it's also been fun too.

Injuries suck! But I would not know about them. The extent of my injuries in year 2: Sundin 2 games with a cut, Zherdev for a week twice, Brule 10 days, 5 playoff games with groin, Martinek for 2 weeks with something, and Clark and Bates eached missed a game. Funny how all the guys I got at the trade deadline were hurt. No Nash injuries and Nitty was actually healthy all year. I have no idea why but I was lucky!!

I'll trade having injuries during the year for staying healthy for the playoffs because that was what kept me from taking ohome the Cup last season... but yeah this is the worst I've ever had it with a team really, I just get someone back from being out 10 days and another person goes down. Nickel and diming me to death basically
However it could be worse I just saw that Calgary lost Kipper AND Regehr both for 4 months, both with broken thighs during the
same game!

Now THAT is bad injury luck!

I'm working my way through Season 2. I just passed the trade deadline and I'd like to unveil my new overhauled Columbus Blue Jackets Defense:
Ed Jovanovski - Derek Morris
Robyn Regehr - Brad Stuart
Rostislav Klesa - Ben Clymer
Woot! Jovo and Stuart were added at the dealine in deals that included Rafalski, Cole, Eminger and picks.
Cheers.

18??

wOw B72 certainly hasn't been held back in results from the 'coaching' rule change
But anyhow...

The "coaching" rule was applied on the LA Kings challenge. I had already finished the Blue Jackets challenge well before that change had even been discussed.
