Lol :ha!: about the draftpick.

I've chosen to remove all injuries for the next update. It will screw up some budgets for sure, but I believe it's the best thing to do. By removing injuries that were on players from the beginning of the season, I also don't need to care about injuries that happened in the season.

Marek Schwarz bolted to Europe, signing with his hometown BK Mlada Boleslav of the Czech elite league.

Not sure how this could be updated, but apparently the Malmo Redhawks have released all of their contracted players

I was very surprised by this... Marek seemed to understand that he needed to be more consistent to get back to the AHL level and reclaim his prospect rating. Then next thing, he's on his way home. It sucks because he was a very nice guy and I hoped to see him succeed, even if meant being the back up to Bishop, both here in Peoria, and then eventually in St. Louis

I get it. Would you want to play in Alaska if you were a hockey player, or back in your home country for more money. I know which I would choose. The Blues played around with him big time. AHL-ECHL-NHL-AHL-ECHL over and over. Can't say I would be happy with that

Already did the Schwarz transfer.
The Malmö players are not released, but they are all free to go.
Danish Totempo HVIK have gone bankrupt and released all their players though.

Forsberg has signed with MODO.
http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?t=601017

Surprising, to me at least. There's also been the Dan Fristche-Erik Reitz trade, Parros has re-signed in Anaheim and of course Zetterberg got a huge pay-day.

I'm sure you already know about these anyway.

Yep, already done. Also downgraded Foppa a bit. \ Lidas

Hey guys, great job on the roster Lidas.

I made it to the off season between my second and third season and whenever I try to advance to July 1st my game crashes. I am just curious if anyone else has experienced this when using the roster update. :-?

Nightmare wrote:First of all thanks for listening. I will post some stats for the above-named and others:
Stanislav Galimov of Ak Bars Kazan has a 1.77 GAA and a 92.7%SVS in 20 games this season
Ilya Proskuryakov of Metallurg Magnitogorsk has a 2.27 GAA and a 91.4%SVS in 28 games
Sergei Bobrovsky of Metallurg Novokuznetsk has a 2.70 GAA and a 92.2%SVS in 22 games
Sergei Gayduchenko of Lokomotiv Yaroslavl has only played 3 games but he has an astonishing 94.1% SVS and 1.61 GAA
taking into account that one of the most talented goalies of the world right now, Semen Varlamov, had a 90.9SVS% and a 2.45GAA, it tells something about these youngsters.
I think that one of the most underrated players in the game might be Alexander(Aleksandr) Eremenko, who is viewed by many as one of the world's premiere goaltenders. From my point of view he's great all-around, with no real weaknesses. He has had two great seasons both for Salavat and for the National team, for example, at the 2007 WC he had 0.98GAA and 95.7SVS% in 6 games, which tells you a lot. For more info about them i(at least stat wise) i reccomend you www.eliteprospects.com, www.khl.ru or www.eurohockey.net . As i said there are a lot of players in Russia that need re-rating. If i can help you any forther, just mention it, I'd be glad to help anyway i can.
P.S.:Forgot to Mention Jan Marek, definitely one of the best centers in the world, who has reigned supreme this season.

Ive done some upgrading to the keepers, but you cant really compare stats from different leagues. I'm open for any other suggestions to attribute changes, but if possible, please suggest solid numbers for the changes. \ Lidas
I am sorry but i have not mentioned something pretty important, and that is that i was talking about Semen Varlamov's stats last year, while playing in the RSL(now KHL), so i think that is a fair comparison.

Now seriously, were they taken in the NHL draft? Are their scouting reports on them that say they have a chance of being a #1 goalie in the NHL like there are all over the place for Varlamov?

Not that I'd want another argument, but someone named Martin St. Louis was actually never drafted. If a player of his skill is not seen by the ISS, than there is certainly something wrong with them. And he is not the only one, look at Datsyuk, 7th round pick that developed to be one of the best ceters in the world.

Yes we know that some guys were not drafted. Very very few, and yes occasionally scouts miss a guy. However, they are also the most respected link to how we can rate players in the game, other than stats. And stats from different leagues vs how someone would do in any other league are not that comparable.

I am not saying that the scout report is be all and end all, however it is the best way to get some information on a player or players. If you look at percentages of undrafted players making the NHL...it is what 1%, 2%? Same thing for guys taken after the 3rd round 10%? So...they are statistically quite accurate.

Maybe out of every 50 players in the NHL 1 is undrafted, and 1 is a player that has bloomed beyond the expectation of where they were drafted. so....overall it is at best a 3-5% chance (giving credit) that ALL of the scouts missed something, or ranked the player too low. Yep, one or two would miss...or 3-5% of the scouts...but certainly not all of them.

So again, for the sake of asking...are their any scout reports on these players? Projections?

Oh and if you really want them to be stars, you could always just edit them into your game, and post your figures and those who wish to could edit them in that way. And I include Lidas in that.

I double batdad on the scouting stuff: it's by far the most accurate way to evaluate a player. Then, "most accurate" doesn't mean "100% accurate". There are always mistakes, misjudgements, etc. But when you consider a mistake ratio of (way) less than 5% and then consider it's done by humans (naturally not perfect), it's already incredibly accurate.

Then you need to scout a player several times and by several different scouts to get a more accurate view on him. If just one scout seen the guy on one of his worst games of the season, he probably won't be excited about the kid. And there are thousands of draft eligible players every year, so the ISS doesn't necessarily have the possibility to scout all of them in depth, and has to make choices at some point. In the end, some guys may end up under their radar, but rarely under the radar of other scouts (ie Datsuyk, not missed by Red Wings scouts). A few guys are missed by everyone though (St. Louis). But it's really exceptionnal...

Well, I went through the long list of replies here and I noticed that no one has looked at the Oilers yet, so I'll drop my two cents on the table. BTW thanks for the DB lidas, it is very good. I like the fact that you are going to remove the injuries too.

There are some tweeks for Oilers players I think should be done. I only offer since I follow them religiously. However, I am doing my best not to be a total homer here :-). As much as I like the fact that O'Marra is a top flight player in the game, he isn't going to be etc.

I'll start with the Prospects. I won’t add the attributes I think they should have beyond the potential, simply because I don’t have enough experience with it. You’re the expert .

Taylor Chorney should stay -7, but we need to fill out his 0s. Otherwise he ends up being useless every game. He's projected to be a 3-4 offensive defensemen. He doesn't have a cannon, but his is a good passer and fast skater. Not a hitter though. Also a good leader, he's captained the US National team etc.

Jeff Petry is rated as the Oilers top prospect at the moment, he’s projected as a possible 1-2 pairing D-Man, so he should have a -8 Potential. He’s projected as a two-way defensemen, not a hard hitter, but he can through them. He’s virtually all zeros, so I will leave his attributes for you to figure out, you’re the expert. He’s definitely at least a couple years away though.

Andrew Cogliano has a potential rating of -14. He’s pretty much proven he’s a top 6 forward material. He’s on pace for 20 goals this season, at the age of 21. Also he won the fastest skater competition, his current speed is 14, definitely should be higher than that.

I’m not sure what needs to be done with Tom Gilbert, but his ratings do seem low for someone going on his second 40+ point season. He hasn’t got a cannon, but he knows when to jump up in the play, and has an accurate wrist shot from the point. (also make very good outlet passes).

Ryan O’Marra should go down to a -7 potential instead of 160. He should also be given a more defensive skill set, with offensive upside. He’s very good at faceoffs. He’s projected to be a 2-3rd line Two-Way forward. At the moment he ends up being a first line scorer.

Cody Wild has all zeros too, he’s in the top 5 of the depth chart at the moment, projected as a second pairing two way defensemen a few years down the road.

Reddox should stay the same in potential, but he's not a scorer, and has developed as a defensive forward, a 4th liner at best, but defensive none-the-less

Also, there are some Position changes.

Rob Shremp should be LW/C, O’Marra should be C/RW, and Smid should be LD/RD/LW

Thanks for listening to my ramblings.

Thanks for your suggestions. I hope you'll find your Oilers more accurate in 1.2 / Lidas

GREAT!

Amazing rosters, thanks again for all your great work...I was playing along and found a pretty big issue.

The Dallas Stars, who have no AHL affiliate are all screwed up...they sign and release players left right and centre...and in one of my more recent games they released Jere Lehtinen and Mike Ribeiro.

Perhaps in the name of greater realism...we could deviate a little and add an AHL affiliate for the Stars.

Still great work all around!
