I finished 6th and got Canucks in the playoffs as well, And somehow i manged to beat 'em with 4-0 :O
Luongo is usually a beast when i play against him in the playoffs, but not this season.
I lost later with 1-4 against Ducks in the semi.

seson 2 summary

Finished 9th 4 points from playoff. I lost 5 out of last 7 games. Toskala played good in goal and made a huge difference with hes skills and experience in the cage. O sullivan also missed close to 30 games of reg. seson thanks to injuries wich also added to the bad seson for Oilers.

The trade
Kessel Joined club after a trade with maple leafs. Cogliano and Smid went the other way. Kessel played very strong and made 65 goals for Oilers, he played with Hemsky and Horcoff.

Cogliano made a huge impact at Toronto and made close to 70p and won Calder Trophy
Smid was traded from Toronto to Atlanta for picks and Gonchar, he made close to 40p that seson.

The trade was a succes for me but an unwise move couse i needed defenders and keepers. Altough i tryed many many times to get a decent keeper but other GM´s refused to trade me one.

UFA
Toskala played very well and was an huge upgrade for hes small wage.

Draft
Taylor hall was drafted by Oilers as nr1 pick and looks like an future 1st LW
Stephen Johns might look like an future 3-4 defender at best and was picked 31

draft above is my 1st seson draft

2nd seson i drafted
#11 Ryan Nugent Hopkins - Looks like a future 2/3 line center with balanced skillset
#41 Victor Arvidson - might devolp into an 3rd line winger with luck

this draft was very weak with barely any good picks outside first 20.

Went into the off-season looking to secure a top-line centre, and a legit #1 goalie. We feel like we've gotten both.

Had a solid first draft. Picked Seguin at #1, felt this team needed a number 1 centre to slot out the team better, didn't feel Hall was a centre, rather a better LW. Hope he can be ready for second line duties, in the 08-09 season.

Went into July 1st wanting to pick up a 4-6 Dman, and looking to trade for a young goalie. Surprisingly we were able to pick up Marek Zidlicky as a bottom pairing defenseman, to play with Smid in Season 2. Trading for the goalie was a much tougher task. Many were RFAs which put us in an odd situation where we couldn't trade for them, and had to wait for them to be signed before inquiring. Couldn't get the Masons, Varlamovs or Rasks of the world. At this point we went past the freeze period of July 15th, so we wait until Oct 15th for another round of goalie hunting. In Ottawa, the acquisition of Martin Biron made Leclaire an expensive back up, making him expendable. Ended up trading Staios and Comrie (resigned during season) for Pascal Leclaire and Jarko Ruutu (salary).

All and all, pretty eventful off-season and fall, where we felt we bolstered our roster.

How's everyones lines looking when healthy?

To start Season 2:

Forwards
Cogliano - Horcoff - Hemsky
Penner - Gagner - O'Sullivan
Moreau - Brule - Nilsson (Would still like to beef up this line)
Ruutu - Pouliot - Pisani

Defense
Souray - Visnovsky
Grebeshkov - Gilbert
Smid - Zidlicky

Goalies
Leclaire
Deslauriers

Hopefully make a push for the playoffs this year.

hes in a good age for a keeper. they play best around 30.

He was close join me to when hes contract was out. i had him come join me at 1,9m wage but i decided for Ryan Suter insteed of play with Leclaire-Price tandem.

Reson i got suter was Souray is 38 soon and still play 28min a game haha

won SC seson 3 and 4. staal and schenn joined start seson 5. trade was gilbert and penner for staal and schenn.

both gilbert and penner refused sign new contracts as they disliked their GM. funny with it i was very happy with gilbert and he won norris seson 4 for me and was my planned 1-2 pairing with seabrook. so i was forced to trade em away early to get some value for em or let em go UFA.

Just started my season 2 off-season, and Head Coach Quinn retired

I guess I'll promote Therrien (my AC signing for S1), and look for a new AC... :-k

I would say that the starting coaches are pretty naff with only Quinn and Renney as bright spots. My best replacement for Quinn if that happens (I'm in May atm) I think Renney is may best choice or maybe even St. Laurent (my goalie coach). But perhaps one more open slot for a coach would do good as there are many good ones looking for work, the only problem will be the HC for season 2.

I made a minor screwup - I forgot to sign my European prospects during the European transfer window. I guess they'll have to endure the poor coaching in Europe for another season...

Auch, that one hurts. I practically signed everyone who got a shot at to be at least a fourth back-up. I'm so excited to have Mikhnov one of my favorite 2-3 liner, he went clubless when his contract ran out.

Summary of all my won awards the first season:

I especially like Horcs comment, after that one I feel that our friendship is tighter than "batdad's defense". :joy:

I started my seson 5 yesterday and played 37 games. Eric Staal centers my 1st line with Kessel and Toews on the wings. This line is one of the best i ever had in ehm history and i have played at least 200+ sesons with this game.

Staal 80p in 37 games 39+41
Kessel 64p in 37games 23+41
Toews 66p in 37 games 25+41

The defence behind em is Souray and Seabrook wich is not that strong and 37 year old souray starts to get realy slow. stats dec 2010

My Oilers started this seson with the trade Penner,Gilbert for Staal,Seabrook.trade. My 2 players where both unhappy and in their last sesons. When we tryed to resign em they refused with the comment they didnt like GM Mike Smith and therefore had to be traded. Gilbert had won Norris trophy in my team and Penner had made almost 400p in 4 sesons and won conn smyth trophy 2times. I was not happy trade em away but was forced otherwise i had gotten to big holes in my lineup.

Before the seson i was forced to waiver Visnovisky (he refused beeing traded) and released Pisani and Moreau to make cap room. Biggest trouble i got now is my 3rd liners are very bad i a lack defensive and role players. So far i havent been able to use the UFA signing or 1 trade per seson for that purpose.Mayby seson 6 change that. Altough after next year i gotta replace Horcoff and Souray.....

And the announcement box says "For this Challenge you must be using patch 3.0.4 and the Lidas v2.1 Rosters." 8-)

I split them up. I've got Souray paired with Gilbert and Visnovsky is paired with Grebeshkov. They're set up this way on both even strength and PP. Like you said, it gives you two pairings with a booming slapshot.
