Heh... we used to refer to those kind of deals as "The fans have taken to surrounding my office with pitchforks and torches and saying things about wanting to put my head on a pike." :chuckle:
Personally if I don't get at least one of two of those with my fans and board all  I feel I'm just not trying hard enough :dunno:

Marleau is godlike though, so don't listen to 'em. 8-)

I got in rubbish for trading Fritsche for Kukkonen and a 2nd.

Phft. Kukkonen is doing great as a rookie jacket. Fritsche as a Hawk...well 'nough said.

I got that message when I traded for a 22-year-old Anthony Stewart. I never thought he was cheap, but I got him and a 2010 2nd-rounder (45th overall, it turned out) for Dustin Brown, David Hale and a 2010 1st-rounder (24th overall).

The fans and the board were livid. At 26, Stewart is a defensively responsible guy who can be counted on to give me 75+ points a season, an imposing physical presence and the team's assistant captain. David Hale is now a 2nd-pairing defenseman with a poor Stars team, and he was worth a 5th-round pick to the Panthers a year after the trade. Dustin Brown makes the league minimum playing on the 3rd line in Florida, and he has never topped 30 points or finished a season on the plus side of the +/-.

I am Ducks in 2011/2012. When I took over, 3 years ago I managed to win the SC. The season after I won the Presidents but got defeated in C. Final against Blackhawks and last season I finisihed 4th in the league and got swept against Blackhawks (who, when I was Columbus, defeated me twice! I bloody hate the Hawks ).
The team for this season is:

Semin - Getzlaf - Stafford
Lokotko* - Brodziak - Prucha*
Hagman - Sutherby - Ortmeyer
Pettinger - Kelly - Asham

Niedermayer - Ehrhoff
Wilson - Pronger
Janisch* - Kosmachev

Giguere - Stephan

*= Regens.

15 games played, 11-4-0 first in the league :joy:

Semin is on a hot streak: http://img515.imageshack.us/img515/1672 ... minwt0.png

How is Semin playing? Is he going crazy with his offensive stats or just average?

...and a 3+5 game, which is mighty impressive. I don't think I've ever seen anyone get more than 6 points in one game (but in EHM2005 one of my players -- a suspected Jagr regen -- did once score 5 goals).

Here is my 07-08 Columbus Blue Jackets team. They're 13-3-0 so far with 82 GF and 54 GA. Ovechkin and Marleau are #1 and #2 (respectively) in the league in points.

Ovechkin Marleau Zherdev
Nash Getzlaf Vyborny
Sutherby Brule B.Ryan
Hollweg Betts Ortmeyer

Pitkanen Pothier
Leopold Stuart
Martin Eminger

Niittmaki LeClaire

My farm team, the Syracuse Crunch

Picard Mackie Nilsson
Konsorada Fritsche Y.Stastny
Hecimovic Platt Carnegie
Bolt Garlock Leavitt

Lepisto M.Green
Methot McQuaid
Rodney Flood

D.Shantz C.Price

I'm not sure if any of these have been faked but I think a couple have. Mackie was the NYI first round pick (15 overall) from 2005. David Shantz was the Fla Panthers' 2nd round (37 overall) pick in 2004. These guys are great. In fact, my whole farm team is. So far they are 14-0-0 with 68 GF and only 22 GA.

Semin had scored 48 goals in 43 games. What do you think happen? Yes, he is ruled out for three weeks missing 6 games. In our 50th game he was still injured but I forced him to play anyway. After two periods he had 2 ass and in the third he scored his 49:th, but that was it... I gave him two weeks rest and when he came back he amazingly scored 5 points in 3 straight games :-o

After 62 games I am still ranked number 1, seven points a head of Flames. Semin has scored 63 goals and racked up 51 assists in 55 games. Getzlaf has put up some great numbers to, 62 games played 37 goals and 70 assists while Stafford has scored 46 goals and assisted to 52 .

Prucha is on top of the Rookie-scorers but he has an Av. R of 6.44 and fail every month to get "Rookie of the Month".

Lokotko was not quite ready for the NHL so I send him to AHL where he has scored 28 goals and 25 ass in 29 games. He is "the Next Heatley" according to my scouts and about 10 teams have inquired me about him, but their tradesuggestions are ridicilous, 5th round pick + random AHL:er...

bruins72: Hold on to Methot, he turns out great after a couple of seasons. Last season (2010/2011) he got 70 points in 82 games and an Av. R of 7.66.

Yeah, he's been a lot better than I though. I don't know if he'll turn into a 70 point player in my game though. You know, randomness and all. My scouts aren't that high on him. He's a really good AHLer though.

The guy that I've really been impressed with has been Picard. He's turning into a great all around player. My only problem is finding a place for him. He's probably not going to get much better in the AHL. He needs to join the big club soon. I'm kind of stocked with LWs though.

I just started my Penguins franchise and after a couple of days, I have made some big changes:

In:

Leopold
Scatchard
Nieuwendyk
Van Ryn
Marc Staal
Bobby Ryan
Nilson

I also fired pretty much my entire scouting staff and Therien and am trying to hire Coffey as an assistant GM, Andy Murray as my coach, and new scouts and trainers with better ratings. I'm also trying to get another centre like Handzus or Drury and have Jordan Staal in juniors for another season.

My current lines:

Malone-Malkin-Crosby
Ekman-Nieuwendyk-Recchi
Nilson-Scatchard-Armstrong
Ruutu-Talbot-Petrovicky

Leopold-Gonchar
Whitney-Van Ryn
Eaton-Orpik

Camp hasn't started yet, but I start an update thread soon :)

Well, I have started a new new career because of the the updated game and the unfake db.

As I have already coached/managed in the OHL and in the WHL its now the turn of the Q!!!

I just took over of the Halifax Mooseheads!!!

My roster looks something like that:

Hillier - Breault - Swan
Pouliot - Chaput - Voraceck
Sack - Cabana - MacMillan
Clow - Saulnier - White

Bodnarchuk - Short
Suchy - Chiasson
Blom - MacAskill

Duchesne - Kennedy

I had a tough start, loosing my first 5 games in a row!!! Well, I also have to say that I had all my good players in training camps from NHL teams...now its a bit better, but still, Iam not very happy....too many goals allowed!!!

Currently starting my 5th season as the Caps, Won the Presidents trophy and Stanley Cup every year so far, 4 times and counting. I'm beginning to get to the point where guys like Semin, Ovechkin and a lot of my defensemen (most are my own propsects) are starting to demand a lot of money, so I won't be able to hold the team together much longer.

Canucks Fantasy Draft

Post by CatchUp »

So I've been wanting to play a game with the UnFaked DB for a while now. I downloaded it this afternoon and I'm now through the Fantasy Draft (which took me a LOT longer than I thought it would!) and 5 games into the regular season.

Here is how my team is looking:

Forwards
Ovechkin-Marleau-Wolski
Blake-Morrison-Hunter
Michalek-Handzus-Nilson
Tenkrat-Kaigorodov-Ryan

Defensemen
Hannan-Morris
Vaananen-Seidenberg
Smid-Hale

Goaltenders
Ward-Hasek

I'm not exactly awash in prospects, so I've decided to mostly forgo the draft for the first couple seasons and trade for prospects that I think have a good shot of panning out. I currently have trade offers out for:
M.Staal
J.Neal
K.Letang
S.Downie
D.Brassard
J.Johnson
E.Johnson
M.Carle
J.Toews
G.Brule
J.Staal
N.Backstrom
A.Montoya

I'm playing an offensive style and I'm aiming to surround AO with versitile, FAST playmakers in an attempt to break the Great One's records. Here are my stats 5 games in:

5-0-0 19GF 8GA 16.7%PP 83.3%PK

The top line is already gelling nicely even though Wolski is only 'competent' at RW. Their stats:

AO 7-3-10
Marleau 1-6-7
Wolski 4-3-7

24 points in 5 games? I'll take it. :joy: AO is also shooting a ridiculous 30.4%!!! =P~

Other players doing well thus far:

Morrison 1-4-5
Blake 3-2-5
Morris 0-4-4

As soon as the trades go through, I wil be sending Bobby Ryan back to juniors as I can't give him enough minutes on the 4th line to develop properly. Next year Bobby. I'm thinking about trading for Balastik for that spot, as I've read good things about him from various ppl on these boards. :-D

I developed my own tactics for this team and I will post them as long as they stand the test of the first season. Looks good thus far aside from some tweaking on special teams.

Anyway, thanks for reading, I'm going to get back to the game!

Cheers all!

Canucks Fantasy Draft Part 2

Post by CatchUp »

I'm flying through the season and I'm now 20 games in.

My lines are now:
Forwards
Ovechkin-Marleau-Wolski
Blake-Morrison-Hunter
Michalek-Handzus-Nilson
Tenkrat-Kaigorodov-Balastik

Defensemen
Hannan-Morris
Vaananen-Zhitnik
Smid-Hale

Goaltenders
Ward-Hasek

In my mission to acquire top prospects I've been quite successful landing:
M.Staal (for 3 2nd round picks)
K.Letang (for a 3-star prospect and 2 4th round picks)
J.Neal (for 2 3rd round picks)
S.Downie (for a 2nd and a 3rd round pick)

I'm was wearing a little thin on picks so I scouted my current crop of Canucks prospects (say that 3 times fast :-p). I found that I had a lot of dead weight to cut loose so I dealt 5 players for picks. I'm gearing up for my second round of prospect hunting and trying to project which players will play well together 3-4 years down the road. :joy:

I also grabbed Zhitnik for a 5th rounder and Balastik for a 6th. I then sent down Bobby Ryan and put Balastik in his 4th line RW role and also 2nd line PP. He's put up 5-2-7 in only 6 games with me so I'm very happy with my move!

My current record through 20 games is:
15-4-1 77GF 51GA 16.5%PP 78.6%PK

Individually, the top line is still clicking very well:
AO 16-11-27
Marleau 10-19-29
Wolski 6-14-20

The only complaints I have at the moment are on special teams. I've made some adjustments but nothing seems to be working on either front. Maybe I'll just give them a few more games to gel...after that it's drastic measures. :-D

Cheers all and stay tuned!!

I'm loving my game now. I'm actually happy my last game got corrupted, this one is going so much better. And I'm backing it up a lot :). Got bounced in the first round in my first year, but the second one is shaping up quite nicely, even though I'm only two games in.

I'm playing as the Ottawa Senators, in my second season.

Heatley - Spezza - Alfredsson
Dawes - Conroy - Perry
Blake - Sutherby - Clark
Lapointe - Papineau - Ortmeyer

Redden - Hamrlik
Vaananen - Meszaros
Vishnevski - Clymer

Emery
Ouellet

Other players in the system (AHL/Juniors)
Marc Staal
Denis Kulyash
Mikka Wiikman
Semen Varlamov
Bobby Ryan
Ville Leino
Kaspars Daugavins
Brian Lee
Angelo Esposito
Logan Couture

Dawes is very surprising. 17 wristshot? I figured he'd be a good 2nd line winger, but he's coming along nicely.

I'm gonna be in quite a bit of cap trouble after this season. I have almost 4 million of cap space, so hopefully I can make a couple moves at the deadline to bring the cup home.

I'm concerned about not having a good defensive shutdown defensemen, but hopefully Marc Staal develops soon to fill that role. I have a few serviceable goalies, but I'd really like a stud in net. I'll probably try to fill that via free agency in the coming years.

Fixed my goaltending situation... Not sure if it was the right move though.

Khabibulin was on waivers. I sent Lapointe to Binghamton and traded Emery for picks to make room for his gargantuan salary. I'll be in even more trouble with cap space at the end of the year, but I think he significantly improves my chances for getting a cup this year.

Think I did the right thing?

Season number one and Cup number one are in the bank!

My lines remained very similar throughout the season. However, toward the trade deadline I dealt Tenkrat for a pick and replaced him with Taylor Pyatt, who is developing into a decent 2-way winger for me.

Forwards

Ovechkin-Marleau-Wolski
Blake-Morrison-Hunter
Michalek-Handzus-Nilson
Pyatt-Kaigorodov-Balastik

Defensemen
Hannan-Morris
Vaananen-Zhitnik
Smid-Hale

Goaltenders
Ward-Hasek

In the playoffs I really messed around with my lines - the oppenent never saw the same look from me in back to back games. My tactics changed as well depending on the opponent. 8-)

My goal to acquire a number of high-end prospects has been met - and then some. Take a look at my kids:

Marc Staal - 59GP 24-109-133 +69 9.20 Average Rating
-OHL All-Star
-Won Red Tilson award (OHL's Outstanding Player - selected by the media)
-Won Max Kaminsky (OHL's Most Oustanding Defenseman as selected by league general managers)
-2nd in voting for OHL Star-Player Award
-World Junior winner (7 pts 7.86 rating in tournament)

Bobby Ryan - 47GP 68-78-146 +57 8.79 Average Rating
-2nd in voting for Red Tilson award (OHL's Outstanding Player - selected by the media)
-2nd runner up for Eddie Powers Trophy (OHL leading scorer)
-2nd runner up for Leo Lalonde award (Best OHL Overage Player)
-3rd place at World Juniors (9 pts 8.00 rating in tournament)

Luc Bourdon - 63GP 30-109-139 +42 9.21 Average Rating
-QMJHL All-Star
-Won QMJHL Defensive Player of the Year
-Won Emile Bouchard Trophy (Best QMJHL Defensemen)
-Won Michele Briere Trophy (QMJHL Most Valuable Player)
-Won Kevin Lowe Trophy (QMJHL Best Defensive Defensemen)
-Won QMJHL Star-Player Award
-World Junior winner (1 pt 6.75 rating in tournament)

Steve Downie - 62GP 50-77-127 +28 8.56 Average Rating
-OHL All-Star
-World Juniors winner (6 pts 8.20 rating in tournament)

Kristopher Letang - 70GP 41-92-133 +3 8.51 Average Rating
-QMJHL All-Star
-Frank J. Selke Award Runner-Up (QMJHL Most Sportsmanlike Player)
-3rd place in QMJHL Star Player Award voting

DANG! Enough said.

As for the players actually on my team this season, here are some highlights:

Alexander Ovechkin - 82GP 58-59-117 +98 8.21 Average Season Rating
-2nd Team NHL All-Star
-Conn Smythe Winner
-Rocket Richard winner
-Plus/Minus award winner
-3rd in Art Ross

Patrick Marleau - 82 GP 43-87-130 +79 8.72 Average Season Rating
-1st Team NHL All-Star
-Art Ross winner
-Hart Trophy winner
-Lester B. Pearson award winner
-Conn Smythe Runner-up
-Plus/Minus award runner up

Wojtek Wolski - 82GP 26-48-74 +75 7.49 Average Season Rating
-All-Rookie NHL All-Star
-3rd place in Calder
-Plus/Minus award 2nd runner up

Brendan Morrison - 80GP 30-48-78 +39 7.78 Average Season Rating
-Conn Smyth 2nd runner up

Derek Morris - 82GP 10-52-62 +73 7.72 Average Season Rating
-Norris Trophy winner

Alexei Zhitnik - 78GP 34-36-70 +44 7.79 Average Season Rating
-1st Team NHL All-Star

Cam Ward - 66GP 45-15-3 2.44GAA 0.908S%
-2nd Team NHL All-Star
-Vezina Trophy winner
-William M. Jennings award

Robbie Ftorek wins the Jack Adams award.

The only player that didn't quite play to my expectations was Wolski. I fully expected him to win the Calder playing the whole year with AO and Marleau. Oh well.

All in all I would say it was a very successful year. I don't have many draft picks left, but I've got an excellent crop of youngsters waiting to take over feeding the puck to AO.

So...while I didn't break any records this year (the aim of my starting this game) I'm hopeful that I've started a solid foundation and I'll have AO scoring 100 in no time! 8-)

Cheers and thanks for reading! (I know it's long!)

I'm currently playing the 2009/10 season with the Washington Capitals (fantasy draft).

My team looks like this:

Prucha - Malkin - Cheechoo
Wolski - Immonen - Ryan
Pouliot - Plekanec - Ryder
Hagman - Sutherby - Reid

Pitkänen - Regehr
Väänänen - Wilson
Barker - Kurbatov

Lehtonen
Price

Lehtonen is injured and will be out for the remaining season, but surprisingly Price is playing pretty well, being named Rookie of the Month the past two times.
Although I've been 1st or 2nd in my conference the past two seasons, I don't really get any high scoring from my star players - Cheechoo and Malkin recorded 90+ points once, but usually they average one point per game. Any idea how to turn them into Hart Trophy contenders?
One of my big hopes is John Tavares: he's having an amazing season in the OHL, having played 46 games whilst scoring 52 goals and assisting on 82 :-D Can't wait to see him on my team next season

I'm Pittsburgh Penguins, season 2007/2008

Forwards

Alexander Ovechkin-Sidney Crosby-Marian Hossa
Ryan Malone-Chris Drury-Mark Recchi
Markus Nilson-Evgeni Malkin-Sergei Brylin
Derek Boogaard-Sean Collins-John LeClair

Defensemen
Mattias Öhlund-Micki Dupont
Jiri Fischer-Kristopher Letang
Josef Melichar-Jon Klemm

Goalies
Starting: Evgeni Nabokov
Backup: Marc-André Fleury

A very strong team which I hope can go far in the play offs. Last season we got beaten by Sabres already in quarter finals. During pre-season I traded and signed players that I thought could fill the holes we had during 2006/2007.

One bad thing though, Malkin is only playing in the third line, but will probably take a place in the second line. Because I maybe will trade away Drury for some draft picks. I will probably trade Nabokov too so Fleury takes back the starting spot for next season. The main reason why I got Nabokov was because Fleury was injured.

I got Ovechkin during the first season, actually I "cheated" to get him. I wanted to see how well he would play together with Crosby and Malkin (who was in the first line then). In 48 games for me Ovechkin got 93 points (49+44), in overall he got 137 points (75+62) in 79 games played. For that performance he got the Art Ross Trophy, the Hart Trophy, the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy, got in second place for the Plus/Minus Trophy with +54 in overall. He also was the All-Star Game MVP.

Crosby got 108 points (44+64) in 78 games and Malkin got 101 points (43+58) in 82 games, both struggled in the beginning, but when Ovechkin came they started to have 3 points per game.

This season so far Ovechkin got 62 points (31+31) in 28 games, and Crosby got 46 points (21+25) in 28 games. Malkin is struggling in the third, but as I said he is going to get to play with better players soon.
