Honestly, I forget what the whole deal was with this issue but many people had it and it seemed to be resolved. Try using the search function up top. You'll probably find something there.

This really doesn't belond in Announcements and Feedback, so I'm going to move this to the Game Knowledge forum.

I don't get an error message at all, it just goes on to the daily update screen flicks from April 30th 2007 afternoon to evening then locks up!

Think the only thing i can do is uninstall it then re-install the game? I will be able to use the authorisation code for the second time wont i?

Have you tried another saved game? Is it just this game that freezes at that date?

Are you using the PC or Mac version of the game? I don't know anything about the Mac version but the PC version allows you 2 licenses of the game and uninstalling and reinstalling shouldn't affect your licenses. You might just have to "unlicense" the game via the eLicense icon in your control panel, then uninstall, then reinstall and put your license info in.

I had a similar error. I got over it by changing the compression option off on the preferences screen.

Bumping this up to see if there are any solid solutions to this. My game just started crashing on November 18th 2010. No matter what, I can't get past this date. I'm using an official (not cracked) version of EHM 2007 3.0.4 with Lidas 1.3 database. I played a different save well into 2013 and never had this happen. I tried resaving, going on vacation, putting someone on waivers then playing, etc. Nothing will help and I really really want to continue this game. Any solutions?

Ugh.
My game is crashing on December 27, 2010. I really thought this year's team could do some damage come playoff time, too. It's a shame. What can I do?
I'm using a licensed version with Lidas 1.5. I tried demoting a player, firing a scout and going on vacation. What the heck is happening? And if I start a new game (and I'm loathe to do so after 3 seasons in) will it happen again? I've no interest in starting a new game if I only get 3 seasons out of it.

Okay, here's how I got around the game crashing.
I went back to a previous saved game - like December 7th instead of 26th - and proceeded to go on vacation until December 30th. Now I'm up and running again. It wasn't my first choice, not an ideal situation but it worked.

I think I'll have to do that too. Unfortunately my other save game is in August, and I'm crashing in November. Not a HUGE loss, but still really annoying.

As far as I know, there are two probable causes for your crashing:

1) The saved game has become corrupt. In this case, if you have been using rolling saves or making regular backups of your saved game then you can revert back to one of those in the hope that it hasn't yet become corrupted.

2) There's something in the edited DB or extra_config file that's wrong. It might be worth seeing if other people using the same DB & extra_config file have encountered the same issue (assuming you haven't further edited the DB/extra_config).

As you've said, it seems simming past the date is the best solution.

With regards to what causes a corrupt saved game, I wonder whether any of the following plays a part:

* Used compressed saves. Doesn't compression carry with it a risk of corruption? If you've got the hard disc space it might be worth not using compressed saves.

* Database size. Perhaps the larger the database the more risk that something could become corrupt?

* Games stored. Again, perhaps the larger the database the more risk that something could become corrupt?

Perhaps there is someone here with sufficient IT knowledge who could confirm my suggestions? I'm fairly sure that compression will play a part and that the larger the saved game to compress, the more likely that it will become corrupt. :-k

From a general computer standpoint it's always smart to do regular scandisk and defrags on your drive. This will help prevent corruption.

Reloading and using a different save, albeit 3 months earlier in-game, got me past this problem. I didn't have to go on vacation or anything. I've learned my lesson and am keeping 2-3 saves going at different dates in case something like this happens again.

Welcome to TBL.
Maybe this is more suitable thread for your problem, check it out.
It looks like you have the save file corrupted. Try to adjust your settings not to "compress save games" and to "save safely". Then try to go past that date or load an earlier save and try again.

Im very proud of work that EHM directors have done. I have never faced any errors, expect when im trying to edit something wierd. Like name of trophies to my European Elite hockey league etc.

But some guys at ehmfinland said about year ago, that they beated error like this:
Send some player to junior, change tactic, change GM-options, etc. Like little things.

bruins72, this is not my issue, if you re-read my thread. could my thread be re-opened, please?

my game is not crashing on a "certain" date, and i am receiving no error messages (as described). it just closes randomly. it may be something wrong with my PC, but i'd rather troubleshoot the game first.

i've had others sim past the initial day for me with no problems, and i get the save loaded and i still crash. it's not a date-specific issue, i don't think...........

oi vey

i just re-installed (well, deleted the EHM 07 folder and then downloaded the 456.exe and patched it and opened annnnnnnnnnnnd...........)

crash!

it seems like my other save game is okay (i can play it)... but this one (which i need because it's for an online league) i simply cannot get to sim... other people can... but i am the commissioner. we have over a hundred people that follow their player in this league. :(

others can sim the same game without a problem, but when i sim it i crash anytime i try to move to the next day. it also randomly closes on the current day when i am doing anything at all... viewing a profile, checking a game score, or just idling over the game. i've had at least 15 crashes in the last 5 hours.

i'm stumped.

Just for future reference, you should still try to use existing threads for any questions/issues, even if they aren't 100% identical to the problem that's already been posted. It just keeps things cleaner for when people do searches - they can get one discussion all in one spot, rather than a handful of different tiny threads to pick through.

As for your problem:

Did you do a complete uninstall/reinstall, or just delete the main folder?

If other people can run the same save with no problems, and your crashes are random, then my guess is that your installation has simply picked up a minor corruption somewhere. Personally, I would do a full un-license/un-install/re-install to get a truly clean installation of EHM.
