I'm in the time where I'm allowed to make some trades but I'm still kind of feeling things out. I'm doing okay and I'm not sure I want to disrupt that yet. Maybe wait until we flounder again. You know what I mean? Plus, I'm wondering what kind of deals I can make at this point. We can trade draft picks or unsigned prospects and we need to maintain our farm team (2G/6D/12F). That doesn't leave us too many spare parts to deal until we get some guys back from injury.thunderbug wrote: I'm only 3 games in, but so far no injuries other than the others already. The guys are really clicking too. We are 3-0. My AHL team is playing well too. Come the 15th I'm going to try for Mike Smith. Tampa sent him down and he has been AWOL since. Tampa signed Thibault and that is why he was sent down. My scouts indicate him to be better than my current duo. If he comes cheap I'll be all over that.

That sheet in the tracker was meant for when we were doing the core. I didn't make a new stat recording sheet this time around. You can just keep track of those guys on your own in a spreadsheet or notepad. As long you declare your homegrowns for the season when you log your first 20 games worth of stats (starting in season 2), you should be fine.gibson41 wrote:Two questions:
-Where do we declare and keep track of our homegrowns? I see there's this tab in the Stats Tracker, but according to this:, I don't think there's enough place to fill them in. Or am I just missing something? In each season there's yellow space for one HG only, where do I put the second one?Season 2 : 1 HG
Season 3 : 2 HG
Season 4 : 1 HG
Season 5 : 2 HG
Season 6 : 1 HG
Season 7 : 2 HG
It has to do with the date he is signed. The player must be on your roster by September 1st 2006 for that season to be counted. We start the game on August 30th 2006. There is no way you can get an offer out to a player and have him join your team by September 1st 2006. So even though that player is on your team for the 06-07 season, he cannot be used as a homegrown for the 07-08 season. He will be on your roster by September 1st 2007, so he can used as a homegrown for the 08-09 season.gibson41 wrote: -According to rules, HG has to spend one full season in my system, so why he can't be declared as HG until season 3, which makes 2 full seasons in my system?A player signed as a Young UFA may not play for your NHL club in the season that you signed him. If you sign a player as a UFA in season 1, he cannot play with your NHL team until season 2. This also means that this player would not be eligible to be declared as a homegrown player until season 3.

Okay, I've also kicked things off as we have day off from school tomorrow.
Staff - AC Lacroix out, scouts Bowen and Chesla are out, brought in third trainer M. Andersson, scouts Harris, Racicot, Bennett and AC Charron (I found this guy, when I was looking for scouts, he has amazing skills in coaching area - 17 17 19. For my AHL team I fired the only AC there, and hired Wolf as HC, Richard, Richardson and Svoboda as AC, plus three trainers.
Players - It's gonna take a while 'til I discover strengths, weaknesses and abilites of players in my system. Meanwhile, I signed 3 Young UFAs. After I set the requring attributes for goalie, the only possible player was several times mentioned Coleman. But to raise in batdad's eyes, I found a good alternative in 21 years old Ben Scrivens. Also signed D Tyrell Manson and RW Mike Ramsay. After few days I recieved news that Sillinger ends with proffesional career, and thus I recieved 2 000 000$ from insurance company. First guy called off my farm team was Mitch Fritz, he's gonna be my main benchwarmer. I also got reserve list notification, so I released Alexei Stonkus, 24 years old, sucky stats... Got several minor injuries before the exhibitions.
I will update later.

Seriously? He retired in your game? He hasn't done that in mine. I was kind of surprised he didn't though. He's in his late 30's and it's a long injury. I wonder if he had a setback in his recovery in your game? Something must've made him change his mind and retire. I just love how things can be different from game to game.gibson41 wrote:After few days I recieved news that Sillinger ends with proffesional career, and thus I recieved 2 000 000$ from insurance company.

Lidas: Hm, I checked up your blog and was kinda pleased that I am not the only one struggling. Well actually, your acquistion helped you a lot to turn things around... I am off to an abysmal start 1-7-0 and feel like giving up. I don't want to do any trades, as the problem is that the best players are on IR...DiP, Witt, Martinek...I guess I will join the chase for Tavares, although I hate the idea of struggling all season long...

Gibson... don't give up. It's a long season. Things can turn around. Even if you do poorly for the entire first season, you can build from there in your second season. Anyhow, the Islanders are supposed to be bad and it's your job to rebuild them. Do what you can with that. Honestly, only batdad is really concerned with where he finishes. For the most part we're doing this for fun.

Yeah I know, it's just always demoralizing when your team struggles, and especially big time. It's beginning of a big rebuilding process. But there have been certain improvements in the game, I gotta admit. First loss was 7-1, last two were 3-4, 2-3so, so you can tell the difference.bruins72 wrote:Gibson... don't give up. Just had my training camp "up to speed" and it said that RDP was in good shape, can you really be in a good shape if you have a broken leg?
My young UFAs is the same as B72's, for one reason they were the best when I searched, before I signed Martine I tried to sign O'Brien, but he didn't want to sign as a fringe player.
