I finally started my game! I'm in the pre-season still but so far it's looking like Caron and Letourneau are my two good players. Of course, that's just based on pre-season game performance and looking at their attributes. We'll see how they hold up in the regular season.
I had a horrible time hiring staff. I didn't luck out on finding any good retired players. I've found that anyone better than "OK" reputation has no interest in joining this team's staff and even some of the "OK" rep guys aren't interested.
This is going to be a looooooooonnnnnnnngggg season! I'm debating if I even want to go through the trouble of setting up my individual tactics. Will it really make a difference with these guys?

I'm going to cry.
1 win and 2 OT losses in Quarter 2. I just can't get anything going, no line combination or tactics are working at all. Caron is my only decent player. I've never seen so many 4 rankings in these games in my life. It hurts! My highest rated player is '#1' goalie (#1 by default) Nathan Dunnett who is rated 7.05

Well, I must say I had a surprisingly good first quarter.
Have been able to sign some good staff. Jake Goertzen as Head Scout and other pretty solid guys as well.
Jeremy Roenick is the Head Coach, and is the typical top guy who just retired.
6 wins and 1 OT Loss, 6-10-1.
There is not much talent on this team, but the ones who are good seem to be doing well.
My top scorer is Mimar, 19 points and 10 goals in 17 games.
Olsson and Cliche are up there as well.
On Defense, Renaud has been a beast. 17 points and probably my teams best player. Its a shame he is 20.
Now if only we could get some improved defensive play, wed be golden.

Hmm, got the first 17 done but my PK/goalies is killing me (hard to determine cause and effect there). I gave up any hopes of a good result for this season in camp anyway so I sent as many of the younger players as possible to the farm leaving me with an even weaker team.
We managed to score 50 goals but allowed 81, my two goalies have GAAs of 4.81 and 5.0.](./images/smilies/wallbash.gif)

It will be a freakin' miracle if I can squeeze 21 wins out of this group of losers.McQwak wrote:Here are real Drakkar stats from the last season

These being junior players, I'm pretty sure their PA is set as variable (using the -x numbers) and several of their attributes are probably left as 0 so they'll randomly generate. I'm guessing we'll see a lot of variance between different users versions of these players.McQwak wrote:How do you have Caron that good? He sucks in my game. He was 1st center but dropped to 3rd line. His avg is 5.27 (the worst avg in my team).
Lamarche, Parisien, Olsson, Langelier-Parent and Tremblay are my favourite players so far. And the goalies, of course.

So they had the season preview (I know, I'm slow) and we were ranked last in the QMJHL. No surprise there. What was a surprise was the positional rankings. Dunnett was ranked 8th amongst goalies. But then my top two players, Letourneau (defense) and Caron (center) were missing from the top ten rankings at their position. We did have one of the top ten prospects but I didn't sign him. I left him with whatever lower ranked team he was playing for. It was Bussieres. He's got a 4 in Determination, so that really turned me off. Overall, he didn't look to special. I guess I'll have to keep an eye on him.

16 teams make the playoffs but because of the lopsided divisions (8 in the East and 10 in the West) the 9th place team in the West qualifies for the Eastern Division playoffs according to points.McQwak wrote:Why is there strikeline above and bellow 9th team in western conference standings? How many teams can clinch playoffs spot? 8 or 9?
Btw.: My team pct. fell from 0.500 in first quarter to 0.340 and I JUST DON'T KNOW WHY

I'll be lucky if I hit DOUBLE DIGITS in wins. I had 3 wins in the third quarter which DOUBLED my wins for the whole season.CatchUp wrote:It will be a freakin' miracle if I can squeeze 21 wins out of this group of losers.McQwak wrote:Here are real Drakkar stats from the last season

So I had about a week between my last pre-season game and my first regular season game. So I kept clicking "continue" until it got to the day of my first regular season game. When I look at my roster, just about every player has really low condition. I had players with conditions around 16% even! What the heck happened? So I managed to survive my first two games with no injuries, a loss, and a shoot out loss. I'm going into my third game of the season and most of my players still have their condition in the 70's and lower 80's. Ugh!

I won't be able to approve your quarter 4 stats without them.

Bussieres is really good with me. He's my second LW and I use ihm often in PP units as well. I'm gad I have him.bruins72 wrote:So they had the season preview (I know, I'm slow) and we were ranked last in the QMJHL. No surprise there. What was a surprise was the positional rankings. Where did you all discover those great staff members? I wasn't able to sign noone better than Claude Lemieux

Year 1 Complete.
I tend to play fast, but with a team like this, I have to say I was not to interested in analysing lines and practices, there really is not to much on this team.
finished last, not shocking. 17 wins at the end of the day. Anyone who gets over 20, congrats!
A few players played well for me, like Duhamel with 24 points, Caron at 45, Villeneuve at 42 in 60 games.
On Defense, Maxime Lamarche and Antoine Letoureau where solid.
I think we all are happy with Nathan Dunnett in net, its a shame he isnt 16 instead of 19.
Bussieres was solid, 30 points for a 16 year old. He was their 1st round pick so he got top 6 minutes with me.
Offseason I was able to sign Jank off of the reserve list and bring him in for depth.
Drafted Dominik Bittner in the import draft, will be my top defenceman. Adam Pettersson will be on my reserve list with the hope he gets sent to the CHL.
The draft was not great, but at least you have a lot of picks. I got a top 6 forward and top 4 defenceman, so I guess that is all I can hope for in the 1st draft.
Trade was for Brent Andrews. Looking forward to him in my lineup, he will probably be my best forward, almost by default.
On to year 2!

IIRC, I drafted Pettersson in the Sarnia challenge. He was drafted by the Canucks and they sent him to their AHL affiliate instead of us. I hope you have better luck!Johnnyluc wrote: Drafted Dominik Bittner in the import draft, will be my top defenceman. Adam Pettersson will be on my reserve list with the hope he gets sent to the CHL.

Wow, that was depressing. 6-58-6 is the final standings. And I could be in trouble. I didn't realize that the enitre team was signed to one year contracts only. Now no one wants to sign becuase the team is so horrible. At least thire rights are retained so hopefully in the offseason the will all resign.

I already had 2 imports under contract, so I figured take a gamble and roll the dice.
