Looks good to me, especially the fans only voting in 6 players. Since they play pond style hockey anyway at allstar games might as well have some fun and do it right  :-D =D>

I'm not sure about this new all-star system. The way I understand it, we'll still vote for 6 players per conference. Somehow, there will be a captain for each conference? Who decides that? Then this captain will pick the rest of his team, which I am assuming must come from players in his conference, a couple days before the draft, live on tv. Is that the general idea? I guess it could be interesting. I just hope it doesn't turn into a situation where a guy picks all of his buddies so they can hang out at the ASG together. Will they be required to pick a player from each team? I'd hate to see Crosby be the captain of the Eastern Conference team and pick all Penguins.

Hahah that was the part that scares me too. What I'm looking for though is that some players who really deserve to go there but are not chose because they are not popular got the chance to go at the ASG. Sometimes the fans who are voting just take the most popular even if they got a bad season.

As I understand it, it will not be East vs. West anymore. NO conference teams. The fans vote for players and the rest will be in by some committe (as usual). Then at the All-Star weekend the chosen players vote themself for the captains who then pick their teams.
I bet the NHL wants Crosby and Ovechkin to become captains.

Yeah, Montreal fans always seem to generate a ton of votes for the Habs. Of course, the fans only vote for the starting 6 players.

Ugh! Really? I'm not sure I like that. I'm sure Bettman would love to have Team Crosby vs Team Ovechkin. Not me though. Taking the conferences out of it kind of removed any sort of connection to one team or another. For example, as a Bruins fan I would be rooting for the East normally. Now what if 2 Bruins are chosen. Maybe Chara ends up on Team Ovechkin and Horton ends up on Team Crosby. Who do I root for? At that point to I really care who wins?

Good point. Still, I agree that there was a big need for change with the All-Star game. I never watch it, it's so boring.

Héhéhé.........Like the all-star game 3 years ago at MTL. Alot of people were there and didn't do that good in the season.

*cough* Komisarek, Kovalev *cough*

Honestly, I enjoy the skills competition more than the game itself. Still, I like having the teams divided in a way with some sort of meaning. I didn't like the North America vs World format but Conference vs Conference works.

According to the press release it seems to me that only 6 players are voted in by the fans and the other 36 named by NHL hockey operations. The selected players then pick the 2 captains by a vote.

14?? :-o Such a young age to make suicide, even to die... :-(

What was her reason to do that? Teenage angst? Any messages left?

Well you don't know all the backgrounds, there could be sexual abuse, bad influence from internet sites etc. Suicide should never be the option tho.

I read about this on HFBoards. It's such terrible news. I can't imagine what that family must be going through. A parent should never have to bury their children.

Please let's not speculate here. There is nothing to suggest this at this time, and I would really prefer not to run someone's family through the mud here. It is such a sad incident...and unless there is proof of any issues, let's not speculate. We have no clue why she did it, and likely never ever will. Making comments that this could be why or that could be why helps nothing or anyone.

Media are quick now and if everyone begin to talk about this or that, the family will never be in peace to pass through it, that's true. It's already hard enough for them, I hope the media will keep their distance
