Right, I bought ESPN NHL. But i am still having difficulty with the goal horns. I am now using memorex CD-RWs, going on the advice of many websites. However this is still not working. I chose to finalise the disc, but maybe I should have chose to finalize just the session? Does any one know anything about this?

I think you should finalise them. I used Memorex 4x RWs fine.

You are burning it as an audio CD rather than a CD containing MP3s?

Yeah, definitely audio. do you mean finalize the session or the whole disc? I selected disc. Might try it with session

Maybe it is something to do with the software i am burning it with-I'll try using media player

What software did you copy yours with archibalduk?

Hmmm, this kind of post on 2khockey net doesn't fill me with confidence...

'I hate to say this Canuckaholic, but I have had a similar CD-RW problem. My xbox is brand new with a Samsung DVD (I was a PS2 user for 2 years). I burned all of the goal horns onto a Memorex CD-RW (using Nero) and tried in vain to get the xbox to read the disk -- No Go. I then went against the conventional wisdom and burned the songs on a simple Memorex CD-R, to see if that might help -- nope.

Of course these goal horn CDs play beautifully in my stereo CD player. The problem is that my wife looks at me strangely for listening to the 30 goal horns and songs from the NHL arenas.

Anyway, so as not to waste any more time or money, I broke down and bought the xbox music mixer CD and system link cable -- which works like a dream.

So, after a couple evenings of frustration, I can say that I've got all of the goal horns in the game now, which I really appreciate.'

There is no way I can afford to shell out for all this, let alone sort out the other technical stuff. Looks like I'll be without those goal horns

To be honest, I'm not gonna bother with the goal horns; they're only sounds :D

It's odd how it just won't work on yours, though.

What's the X-Box Music Mixer CD?

It's funny how you can buy 'Official System Link Cables' for £10 when you can buy a crossover network cable, which is EXACTLY the same thing, for about £2. Talking about preying on those with no technical knowledge

Do you have other NHL games?

Post by Calv »

If so what games do you have and what console?
I'm about to get NHL 2005(only £3.98!! - I'm too poor to buy 06) on the PC.
Was thinking that if enough people have certain games we could set up some records and maybe some challenges?
Add to the list:
Calv - NHL 2005 - PC
Archi - NHL 2k6 - XBox

Yep. I have EA's NHL 06, it sucks. I also have 2K Sports' NHL 2K6, it's decent.

They are absolutely ridiculous. The phrases they use have just been translated from English straight off. "Du måste hålla uppe huv'et, annars går det på det där viset" is not something Ankan would say. :P

I play NHL06 on the PC...it's pretty darn edited and updated, I must say. :)

I'm a big fan of the 2k series-see 'the xbox and NHL 2k6 thread', but as archibald has said their delays and simply unnacceptable lack of customer service lets the side down. I was thinking of buying EAs latest effort, if only for the licensed international teams to play with during the Olympics-but I take it that it is not worth it? I have NHL 2005 already and that was pretty poor....
As for international Ice Hockey games what do you think of my idea:
BlackCats101 wrote:I wish that there was a special Winter Olympics Ice Hockey game coming out. You could have all 45 international nations with official kits and line-ups etc, and then have to go through the qualification procedures before the tournament proper. Unfortuneately given the necessary licenses involved it would have to be an EA Sports game...
As i mentioned the problem is with the licensing.
In an ideal world you would have the gameplay of 2k, the graphics, presentation and licenses of EA and the detail of EHM...

No, he wouldn't. And some of the Swedish names is said like a English commentator would say it. For example "Kim Johnsson".

Yeah, I've got 2k5 and will be getting 2k6 despite their shoddy excuses. I'd rather pretend to forget that I've got NHL 2005 though ;)
Good idea,

I wonder what Minty has. He voted in the poll too :-k

I remember talking to him about the EA series of games. I think he has some old school version. NHL 94 is probably still the best in relation to gameplay. EA even admitted this by including NHL 94 with some versions of NHL 06. I think that's quite embarrassing on the part of EA if they can't come up with anything better 12 years later :dunno:

I have the EA Sports NHL games 2004 and 2005 for the PS2 and NHL 06 for PC, but when I discovered the 2k NHL series I changes my mind really fast about EA Sports NHL, lol!!!

Iam still waiting for NHL 2k06....dont know why it takes so long to release this game in Europe when its out in the States for about 2 months!!!....and it would be great if they would release it also for the PC!!!

For the guys who have already NHL 2k6: is it OK?? I suppose its better than NHL 06 from EA, right???

Apparently it thrashes the EA offering. I know this having rewad the reviews last Sepetember, only for it to be delayed to November, then January and finally March. The excuses? We don't know. Archi and I have posted on various messageboards in enquiries only to be either ignored (by the publishers and other players who were oblivious to our cause) or to be given poor reasons why it couldn't be shipped etc. How ridiculous it is that we will be getting the 05/06 season game at the end of the season! 2k have missed a trick, brcause they have automatically given the potentially profitable markets of Germany, central Europe and indeed Spain ;) to EA.

I'll let you know how NHL 2k6 goes once I get it in March (I've got it on pre-order). I'm getting the XBox version which is apparently playable. There's a franchise freeze bug but there is a way around it. I hear that there's a franchise bug with the XBox 360 version which can't be gotten around at all.

I've been one of the many users criticising 2kSports in their official forums but alas, we haven't had a reply. It just goes to show how great SI Games are when it comes to listening to their fans/customers

By other NHL games do you mean NHL EHM 2004 and the freeware Eastside Hockey Manager? ;)

I've got NHL 2k6 for the XBOX and I hate it. I played it once and put it down after half an hour. I never picked it up again. The franchise management is a mess to control (interface) and I just didn't like the feel of the game. I used to love playing the (don't stone me) EA hockey games back in the 90's. This just didn't feel right. I think they made things worse with all the camera angles too. I can never seem to find the most comfortable one to use.

I think I'll just stick to SI and EHM.

I own NHL 2006 but my DVD drive is broken so it wont play. It's one of only a couple of games I've ever got that wont work in the CD drive.

Before it broke I wasn't that impressed anyway
