I agree, I like the 07 way better, I find the EA way has too many menus under menus, requiring random clicking to find even the quit button. I don't think EA is superior to 07 in this regards, in fact it is a regression IMO.

Is there any way to start a league with friends on this? Just started EHM:EA and love it. And would love to play in a league or fantasy league with some friends if that's not already a thing.. I could be missing it though.

Been playing as Danish National Team GM for some time, and here are a couple of things I have noticed.
Wishes:
1. We need the Euro Hockey Challenge - only Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic and Russia play games during the season as it is now. We need some more matches for the smaller nations. Besides the EHC it would also be cool if teams arranged friendlies during the international brakes and in the weeks leading up to the IHWC.
2. It would be nice if we could leave a couple of roster positions open during the IHWC, and then call up NHL'ers as their teams get knocked out of the playoffs. As it is now, once you confirm your roster before the IHWC there is no way to change it during the competition.
Bugs:
1. There are still some pretty extreme scores at both the IHWC and at the U20 IHWC. Teams with many NHL players will often kill smaller teams by 8-9 goals. This does not happen very often IRL - even at the Olympics the best NHL players in the world don't kill teams like Slovenia and Norway this much. At the U20's I also saw USA and Canada beat the Swiss by scores like 16-2 and the likes - again, this would not happen IRL.
2. Before the IHWC I was asked to choose jersey-numbers for my players. Even though I did this, the game still used other numbers during the competition than the ones I had chosen.

One thing that should be added is history of player stats by season. If i want to find out who finished 10th or 25th in points last season (for example) I should be able to hit some drop down that gives me a list of past seasons. I believe you could even see this kind of info in the Free ware version of EHM from back in the day. This needs to be added.

That is one I would love to see, but it takes up alot of data space in the game and would make it slower. At least I think I recall hearing that way back when.

I think it currently gives you the option to export it to your computer but when i tried it, the stats were all over the place. So if someone knows how to do it properly let me know.

I would love this also. Right now we can only discipline our players... it would be neat to be able to congratulate them.
Perhaps asking certain players what they think on the team?
It would be neat to see some players complaining about other players or coaches.
Agree 100%. This would be awesome if you say something in the media a player takes the wrong way and you can make up for it by pumping him up a little bit. This feature would be HUGE.

And ... this leads to my want in the game the ability for the user to have scouting abilities and to get out and scout on his own, and for those to improve over time, as well as to add scouting abilities for coaches and AGM. These guys get out and scout all the time when they have the chance. Coaches when they are not playing in a city while on a road trip will take in games as will AGM, GM...etc. This should be added some day, but is something that would come after other things.
I agree that you need to scout players, but I would love if you could do a "Coach report" and have that also be visible on the scouting screen. That way I can look at what my Head Scout (Who's report I usually look at) and Head Coach have to say about a player on the team without having to add it as a note.
You can do this already no? In EHM: 07, I used to watch all of my top prospects playoffs and memorial cup games. the league must be a "selected league" but I know for a fact, I could watch any Canadian league game I wanted because I had the league as playable.

This one is easy, no need for a feature. Here is what I do to scout the draft. I go in and scout, I get reports on anyone who is 2 stars and up. I read all the reports and shortlist the guys I like. a month before the draft I go in and I filter attributes by my essential skills...anticipation, determination, work rate...any skills that you would see as imperative in a late round steal and just make notes for those players. Another tactic I use is to go into the Filters and set all the atts to 10 and find the most well rounded players.
There are ALWAYS gems later on. One of the highest scoring players I ever found was an American in round 5 who I left in College for 4 seasons and then one year of AHL. In fact, in EHM: 2007, I found it was too easy to find gems.

The game could possibly ask for which player I meant if there are several players of the same name after entering the list.
I would love this as well, having a tick-box in all player lists (shortlist, scouting, stats, etc) to do mass-selection and then the context menu options apply to all of them -adding/deleting to shortlist, scout (scouting players one by one is a hassle when going through draft eligible´s for example) and whatnot. I hate working with shortlists in all games where this does not exist, rendering them useless for me as I don't want to spend hours maintaining them.

I don't think he asked for a feature to do what you described automatically, just saying availability of gems is low and I tend to agree. In reality there are many undrafted players who become regular NHL players which doesn't happen in EHM. Even if it's been quite easy to spot those who actually exist, there should be a realistic amount of them and then tweaks to make said gems less easy to identify even with excessive scouting and attribute searching so that there are more surprises.

When approaching transfer deadline, I delayed a trade because I was hoping for another trade to go through. This didn't happen but I didn't get the chance to complete the first trade either because the deadline passed. So, like in FM, it would be nice to get the option to finish all pending trades before the deadline.
Also, it's really annoying that you can't scroll on your roster page or other pages. When scrolling, I go to some random player's profile page instead. I don't know if this is because I play from a Mac through playonmac or if this problem exists for others as well.

I think it would be cool to manage your affiliations. I don't know if this is something a GM actually does IRL, but it hit me last night while playing my EHM 2007 career w/ Prince Albert.
They don't have a junior affiliate, so any extra roster players of mine need to be loaned out. I would love the ability to negotiate an X number of year affiliation agreement with a Jr. A or Jr. B team, and renew that agreement when the time comes (or, find a new team to affiliate with).
Details of the deal could include financial benefits for the lower league team, in addition to the number of years, and anything else others can think of.

More national team stuff - possible bug.
So I bring the Danish team through the first round of the World Championsships, winning over Germany in the process. In the qualifying round we manage to beat Sweden 5-4 after penalties, but we don't go through to the quarterfinals.
After the World Championsships end the board sack me.
No way this would happen IRL.

There needs to be a reject all button. If you offer a superstar player to all teams and get like 50 replies none of which you are pleased with you have to go through each and every one and hit cancel or actually open them up and hit reject. It's time consuming. Even when you accept an offer you still have to do the same thing for the rest of the emails you get.

Another idea for WC. It would be good to have preview like for leagues and that AI remembers what happened last year, for example : If Denmark reaches semifinals one year then in preview of another year WC should be smth like "Can Danes repeat their suprising success from last year" ?
Or...If all or majoirty Swiss NHL-ers are still with their clubs, then preview should be like "Swiss will rely on their NLA players mostly, so medal is not expected this year"....

I took the liberty to go through all thread and sumarize sugggestions in a list. Maybe topic starter or Archibalduk can update their initial post with this and continue maintenance? Feel free to move around or re-group, doubt my categories are the optimal ones.

10. Further vacation options, such as stopping simulation at certain events, allow roster moves as long as no waiver listing etc.
11. Automatic continuation if idle setting
12. Set up new affiliates (like in FM), including for junior teams. Can be negotiated with financial benefits, terms etc.
13. Improved youth intake for european teams (as applicable) to give more juniors coming up into the junior teams of managed clubs
14. Enable NHL lockouts (which can be disabled in settings) with NHL players joining other leagues in the meanwhile
* Finances and facilities
1. Reworked finance screen, especially for overview for salary cap
