The hidden Attribute "Natural Fitness" is what affects recovery, not Stamina
A situation where a player doesn't recover for months is a bug and should be reported with the saved game submitted if possible

The fact that players tire more now and realistic usage/practice is required is a very good thing IMO (even if there's bugs to be worked out; the experience of not recovering for months seems to be rare)

I haven't noticed anything for me. I've got two players who sometimes have a good drop but they were doing it before the patch came out.

I just think that sometimes the "resting" option takes a while before it makes a change. A player at 78% can stay this way with the rest option for like 4-5 days without a change.

Yeah, I agree with Nino. Player fatigue seems a lot more realistic. Generally I'm finding that I can play my players in every game, but there are a few who do sometimes get tired and need a rest (presumably due to their Natural Fitness, but I haven't tried looking in the Editor). These are typically a few players I'm playing on top lines and across special teams which makes sense as they will log a lot of time on the ice.

Honestly I think stamina and natural fitness should be pretty equal to each other. Which, poking through my team, holds true in most cases. But some has like 18 stamina and only 13 fitness. I don't know if they are tied together within the game (I think they might be, judging by their fitness/stamina attributes), but they should be imho. The higher stamina you have the better your fitness level and recovery is. Obviously this goes down normally with age (which is true with Kessler in my case at 36 y.o).

I've tweaked the ice time abit by upping the 3rd line. It has helped a little, a lot if there are realistic amount of PPs which rarly happens though. Also I was wondering about ice time for D-men. What dictates how many minutes they play? We can't set their ice time like on FHM and in my case playing on overload strategy sees my top pair play 30min (including PP) and 2nd about 16-18min, when I switched to equal I hoped they would drop a lot but they only dropped to 27-28min. 2nd/3rd are playing pretty equal though. I don't know how to get my top pair to play less without taking them off the PP, which is a big no-no.

EDIT: Never mind on the ice time for D-men, I accidently left it on quick sim when testing stuff out. Now I know to never use that again, my god it messes things up tremendously apparently, now only playing 22-24 minutes. On the plus side, PP/PK became more realistic. :-)

Having an additional hidden attribute for that somehow makes it worse. You can't see historical ice time per game, only total games played per season so you could sign/trade for a player who can't play many games and not even know it? Fitness is quite a readily assessable thing in the real world so shouldn't be hidden. Heck even if it is scouts should pick up on it really easily, and worst case it would be picked up after a few practice sessions or at training camp, but that's probably why this is a bug. Practice should affect condition far more than games either way.

To be honest I think it's Stamina that is the problem as their condition drop after a game is too high for them to recover, after my last game I have some players still on 100%(and they're on practice sessions), but one on 61% and one on 74% who have been on resting and played far less games already! Anyway I'll have to submit a save.
How do lower leagues handle these two stats as most players there will have very low fitness and stamina?

It really is THAT bad? I still don't have many problems in my save at all. I need to rest some players here and there for 2-3 days sometimes but it's mostly 3-4 players that have ALOT of ice time like Landeskog, MacK, Holden and Barrie. Varlamov playing 70 games per season is always at 92-100%. Maybe your players lack stamina + the new patch = no energy at all?

Anyway I hope for those of you who have some problems with that problem will have a fix or a solution.

I'm thinking some of the issues may be because you need to restart for this patch. Not official info, or anything like that, but just my hunch. I've seen some weird stuff in my game that no one else has reported. Like a physio getting signed as a head coach, and I'm thinking it's because I still play the game I started when I bought the game in 1967, during EA.

Wasn't sure where to put this but I'm ~200 spectator short of the capacity of the arena and the board says "Not close enough to capacity" :dunno: Money shouldn't be a problem since Sharks are doing fine in that department :-o

Could also be that there is no room to expand the arena. I think that is what the board says in that case as well.

So I have started a new fresh game, after the last patch was released, with Toronto. In my 3rd season I have a drafted goalie (from Y2), playing in the QMJHL. His team decided to release him mid season, I thought it might have been money related issue or something. He had a lot of interest in him so I wasn't too worried. However he has now been released by another 3 teams. Everytime he is signed they release him the next day. I haven't noticed anything like this in the past, anyone else seen this happen?

I've decided to offer him a contract and send him to juniors when/if he signs, maybe that will keep him on a team?
