I'm in a new game with Dynamo Moscow. Russian Superleague is a brave new world for me (as British Elite was last year :p)

After some struggling at the start of the season, after 40 games or so I'm battling with Khimik for the first place of RSL.

My big signing was..... Jim Dowd!! Who's doing decent job as 3rd liner and PK specialist alongside Alexandr Skugarev
I've tranfered in Czech Jan Marek during the season to center my 2nd line and be my 3rd foreign talent. He's being doing nice job, averaging more than 1 ppg.

The biggest revelation of my team was Vadim Shakhraitchouk. The 32 y/o Ukrainian is my team captain, first center and also having he's carreer best season, battling for the scoring leadership until he got injured for 3 weeks recently. Nonetheless he got 40 pts in 32 games. Really good!

My disapointment is Alexander Kharitonov who was supposed to be one of my team stars and was even rated as top 10 left winger in the league. He's averaging 6's, only got 4 pts, -10 differential....

Vladimir Bakika's going to be a nice 1st rounder in the next NHL draft. The 17 y/o kid currently 19 goals in 39 games, mostly in PP.

On the D's, Denis Kuliash is my main man, alongside Renat Mamashev. I'll already lose Mamashev to NHL next year and surely Kuliash too. Hopefully, millionaire Evgeni Korolev is finally playing good hockey after up n down starts. The Rybalko twins are my blue line future.

My line-up looks like:

Mikhaylov-Shakhraitshouk-Ling
E.Fedorov-Marek-Mirnov
Kharitonov-Skugarev-Dowd
Bakika-Kukushkin-Krivokrasov

Shitikov and Starodubov

Kuliash-Korolev
Vyshedkevich-Tolkunov
Orekhovsky-Mamashev
Rybalko1-Rybalko2

Rylov and Knyazev are my backups

SG Eremev
BG Volkov

Now I'm begining to understand transfert system, next step is youngster recruitment since there's no draft... Any hints? :)

RSL NEWS HIGHLIGHT: Dynamo Moscow are now Russian Champions, defeating Kazan in the fifth match of the final, in Moscow. Moscovite are parading and celebrating in the street, even Mr. Poutine called to congratulate the team.

Also, somehow, Kharitonov got some high in the playoff. He got somehow somekind of chemistry with Jan Marek and Krivokrasov. I'll maybe not transfert him during the off-season, especially I'm beggining to be rseverely looted by the NHL clubs.

Success hurt man!! :p

If you read again, you'll see that it's two distinct sentences ;)

Yeah I've given some imported-poutine to the team. They promise me to win the champ if I never gave them after :p

I am starting off not in the NHL but in the CHL,and I am managing Witchita. I don't have my lineups done quite yet,but I will. I just wanted to start with something a little diffrent than the NHL.

Here's season 2 in the wonderful world of Russian Elite Hockey!

I've lost some players during the off-season, but I've signed some good veterans to compensate.

Here those who got signed by the NHL:

Vladimir Bakika (in AHL) drafted in 1st round, 16th overall
Renat Mamashev (in AHL)
Igor Mirnov (in AHL)
Maksim Rybalko (in CHL, what a waste...)

Hopefully, Nashville didn't signed Denis Kuliash, so I got my blue-line general at least one other season.
I still got 15 players with NHL rights, so anything can goes during the next months and I can be looted again during summer! Now I understand why Russians are mad about NHL stealing their talents

I let David Ling go and signed Marius Czerkawski to be my third imported players. Marek and Dowd being my others two.

My goaltenders are still Vitali Eremev and Alexei Volkov

O-lines:

V.Karpov - V. Shahkraitchouk - A. Sopin
A. Kharitonov - J. Marek - M.Czerkawski
V. Evseev - A. Skugarev - D. Shitikov
K.Romanov - J.Dowd - A. Vishnyakov

E. Mikhaylov, I. Voroshilov and A. Starudubov are my back-up, doing rotations with my 3th and 4th wingers.

D-lines:

D.Kuliash - E. Korolev
M.Kuznetsov - D. Tolkunov
M. Rybalko - S. Vyshedkevich
O. Orekhovski - N. Lukyanshikov

A. Budkin, I. Knyasev and Yakov Rylov and my back-ups.

My under 20 players are Sopin, Voroshilov and Lukyanshikov.
I'm doing rotation with my depth players, so they'll surely play between 20-30 games each.

After 10 games, I'm 1st in RSL. Jan Marek already got 22 pts and Valeri Karpov 16 pts! :D

Season 3 with the Caps (updated 07-08 roster)...and to say it's going well is an understatement.

Told Ovy to shoot constantly, skate like the wind, be creative as hell and ignore defense. His response? These season totals:

2006-07: 82GP, 71G, 59A, 130PTS
2007-08: 75GP, 73G, 47A, 120PTS
2008-09 (so far): 71GP, 81G, 43A, 124PTS

...he's tied Dale Hunter's career goal total in 5 seasons. This game's insane when you do some things...

i didnt find one on the boards so well here it is

ADMIN NOTE: We do indeed have a thread on this. It's at the top of the General EHM Chat Forum. I've merged your thread into the correct one (Archi)

The premise is simple just show your current team and what you like about them maybe rate the teams of others etc etc etc.

Well this is my 2008/2009 red wings squad.
Image
My strong point is Lecavalier ofcourse with 2 franchise defenders Chara and Lidström behind him.
My first season i made playoff conference finals only losing to the ducks who also won the cup.
Second season i lost Hasek to retirement so after a quick fixit called Noronen(68G-42W-17L-5T-177GA) only to lose in The conf semi's to the damned av's.

So now im at the start of the 3rd season picked up roloson(1yr) to compete with Noronen. and i got Thornton(2yr $1M) and j.Leclair(2yr $1.5M)

My cap is good at $47.1M

Well you know the premise you seen my team lets show eachother your teams.
And if you want to ask something about my team feel free to ask. :-D

Probably not what you expected, but here is my UHL team for season 2...

Nothing exciting much, but IMO it's a well balanced team between rookies and veterans, physical play and finesse, talent and hard workers. All three lines can do pretty much anything. All on the Port Huron 500,000$ budget.

worked my way up to the NHL through the English League (Cardiff) then the Wheeling Nailers, a few months in Preoria after being asked by the Boston Bruins.

Been managing them for 4 years now, even won the Cup.

I just started a N.Y.Rangers game. Ditched some guysand contracts I don't like (Kasparaitis, Malik,Hossa) and picked up Derek Morris. I'm still over the cap (I'm at training camp) so I might have to trade someone away. Mara maybe, we'll see.

Small update to my long-running career...

After several years at Orebro HK, and a couple close-calls with promotion to the Elitserien in the last couple of years(both times I was denied solely by Rogle... you silly billies!), I decided to resign and move back home... preferably getting a job in the OHL, especially with my home-state team - Erie Otters.

Sure enough, a few months after leaving Sweden, the current Erie GM left for another team, and I hopped in his place. So, I got my dream spot, which is where I am now - only a month or two into it. I plan on staying here for a long, long time.

Stats vs Success

Post by mtsouth »

Playing with the Hurricanes during the 06-07 season. My team is doing well. They are currently in first place in the entire NHL with close to 60 points about midway through the season. However, I only have two players (Stall and Brindy) averaging over a point a game through 40+ games. I think I have good talent and the team may be really balanced such that everyone chips in with no one dominating. Here are my lines:

Vrbata-Stall-Cole
Ladd - Brindy-Williams
Salmelainen-Belanger-Walker
Bayad-Aucoin-Weinhandl(sp?)

Wesley-Gleason
Eminger-Tanabe
Hedican-Wallin

I dealt Whitney, a low pick, and rights to a scrub for Vrbata and a pick. Vrbata has matched his season high for goals already. He gets 1st line PP time as well as some PK time.

Salmelainen has super speed and in 14 games has 10 points. He's young and I'm excited about what he can do going forward. I got him for a 5th round pick from the Hawks.

Weinhandl was also acquired for not much and has started chipping in some goals. He's got a 16 wrister so I'm hoping he can turn into another possible scorer down the line.

Eminger was acquired for Commodore and 3 low picks in 09 and 10. He's young and appears to be a guy who can be in my top pairing starting next year. He got dinged up recently, but I'm hoping he can come back and build some chemistry with the rest of the team.

The only person with a negative +/- among the top 3 lines is Belanger. Everyone else is well into the + range for the most part. My PP is around 19% and PK is around 82%(need to work on this).

Since my team is doing so well, I'm hesitant to mix things up to try to improve individual performance. I'm not sure anyone will reach the 100 point mark which based on the talent is a little disappointing. I'd like to have some guys in contention for awards, but I don't want to mess with success.

Thoughts? Opinions? Anyone else wrestle with this?

My current Penguins squad with the 79-80 mod in the 1983-84 season:

Image

I'm sitting first in the East right now, but it's a tight race after about 36/37 games. Islanders and North Stars have met four times in a row in the Cup finals, winning two times each. Great stuff!! :D
The Islanders lost goalie Billy Smith to me now, which is a big blow, but they added Borje Salming from the Leafs on the blueline for compensation. They are still my favorites for the Eastern crown and the North Stars are first in the West again. A fifth duell between the two clubs would be awesome.

I'm basically just playing around since the start, not doing much, not really trying to win. I simply eagerly await Mario Lemieux who's draft eligible after this season. My team is pretty good however, so I will trade the farm for the first overall selection and then try to build a dynasty around Super Mario. I have Brett Hull and Ron Francis in my prospect pool as well, which should help ;)

Some random staff that happened in this alternate history:
- the Oilers are still awful and Gretzky has nobody to play with and has yet to break the 50-goal plateau
- Mike Bossy became the first player to score 80 goals (81 acutally, has 418 in 495 games)
- Rick Kehoe (of all people) scored 70+ goals twice
- Bobby Orr is still playing in 1983 (Calgary Cowboys)
- Phil Esposito nearly caught Gordie Howe's all-time record 786 goals (774) and 1809 points (1790)
- Clark Gillies won four Selkes in a row
- the USA won the 1983 Olympics (yeah, there was a scheduling change!!) against the Soviet Union (5-1 in the gold medal game)

I am currently at June 8, 2013 with the Columbus Blue Jackets.

I have had lots of ups and downs and I have been through two coaches so far.
My current lines from this past season were:

R. Nash (82GP 41G 55A 96P) - G. Brule (82GP 25G 59A 84P) - F. Bruunstrom** (74GP 35G 38A 73P)
C. Kerr (82GP 47G 54A 101P) - J. Stoll (71GP 19G 52A 72P) - N. Zherdev (80GP 42G 47A 89P)
R. Craig (77GP 11G 16A 27P) - O. Kvasha (69GP 3G 16A 19P) - M. Cooke* (22GP 4G 9A 13P)
J. Hlavac (70P 4G 11A 15P) - D. Brassard (76GP 5G 13A 18P) - D. Setoguchi (66GP 8G 8A 16P)

R. Suter*(23GP 2G 10A 12P) - D. Wideman (74GP 6G 27A 33P)
O. Vaananen (69 GP 3G 16A 19P) - D. Fisher (58GP 1G 15A 16P)
D. Gauthier (65GP 2G 11A 13P) - K. Wharton (65GP 3G 19A 22P)

C. Mason (72GP 41W 24L 7O/SL)
M. Garon (13GP 7W 2L 1O/SL)

*Aquired at trade deadline from Boston.
**Edited when all the hype about Brunnstrom was around. I started the game with him with New Jersey. I guess this is technicly cheating, well sorry. >__<

I finished the season 48-26-8 and lost in 6 in the first round to the Calgary Flames. I have yet to win a playoff series.

I am hoping to have some of my prospects step into my lineup next season.

I am in 3rd season of my Hermes Kokkola campaign. Trying to build a European elite club from a small club of Finnish Suomi League.

I managed to promote to Mestis right after first season. After they raised my budget I spent a lot of money and first year in Mestis was fine, I end up 7th (originally predicted as 10th). In the off-season I hoped for another budget raise, unfortunately it stayed the same, so I am bit over it right now.

I started the second season in Mestis with higher expectations with both Def and Off boosted. I have the best Latvian goalie in the game - Masalskis, who regularly plays for Latvia in all sort of competitions. Well, as I mentioned, I started with higher expectations, I was predicted 8th, but right now I am 10th and still loosing and loosing :-/.

What I really hate that when I offer a contract to a player he asks pretty much, and when I decline him he signs with different team for much lower price. Fuckers. On the other side, my players have tendency to extend contract for lower money. For example, Masalskis, originally signed for 31,500$p/y, I offered him 30,000$ for next year and he accepted. And I already extended him for another year, I really want to keep this guy, my skaters are never ranked in the Top 10 Preview, but Masalskis was 1st ranked goalie last year, and is 2nd best goalie this year.

In 2009-10 playing first season in ECHL Columbia Inferno.
We were ranked first in season preview and now holding first place in our division.
But after Billy Sauer signment in Colorado and Gennady Churilov's injury we falled in losing streak.
That Churilov is hot player in ECHL.. he has played 15 games and scored 29 points.
When he had point streak he made 13 points in just 3 games.
Just hired Ted Nolan to our head coach and we are in winning streak once again.
I'll try to get job in AHL after this season and maybe I'm in NHL someday.

Before ECHL I was in Brynäs Elitserien for 2,5 years. Had pretty decent team, but never won championship.
And I have been GM in Halifax QMJHL, Japan, Austria and Czech U20 teams too.

Okay, things had turned around after I released my head coach (my very first one who coached well, retired at age 68 unexpectedly, so I quickly found this one) and this time I found much better one. Also, I decided to stick to GM only dutties, so tactics are now coaches' thing. I bought a couple of players, two Ds that really bolsted up my blueline and a winger and a center. They stepped in well, and really changed the direction of team. I was 8W-12L, after the changes I claimed 7th place with a 22W-16L-x-x record, and eventually beat in 1st,2nd and 3rd seeded teams in playoffs. Wicked! So I was just 4 wins away from promotion to SM-League, but this series exploited that the team is not ready yet. Lost 4-0 on games with Pelicans, but man, what a turnover that was! And hopefully this time, they raise my budget, I ended up 250.000$ in plus.

Edit: And to the extending for lower money, I know it usually works when you offer a guy a small less than he asks for, but extending a $18.000 contract to a $14.000 one, that's a bit of difference, and since I have to save space wherever I can, it's really helpful

Figured it was about time I started posting over here. I've done 4 seasons as Buffalo, won the Cup in the first year against every logic I've known, then been eliminated in the first round twice and the second round in between. After free agency this year, my tentative team for 2011/12 looks like this:

Thomas Vanek - Derek Roy - Jason Pominville
Alexander Semin - Mikko Koivu - Dustin Brown
Johan Franzen - Paul Gaustad - Drew Stafford
Dan Paille - Rod Pelley - Mark Mancari

Tim Gleason - Milan Jurcina
Brian Campbell - Jay McKee
Andrej Sekera - Bobby Sanguinetti

Ryan Miller/Jhonas Enroth

Have finally managed to bolster my top six to get some scoring, Semin should really help a lot.

Okay, in my 4th season in Mestis, I won league by 10 points, but all of the hard work was blown away when I lost in playoff finals to other team 3-0 on wins. But it was tight, two first matches were decided in 2nd OT, but I am still widdled off. I felt like, this could be it, this could be the time I will be finally promoted to SM-Liga. The play-offs are very versatile. I mean, when I ended up 7th in regular season, I eventually end up in promotion playoff, but I lost. Then I end up 2nd and 1st in last two seasons, just to be defeated by some pants teams. I had what it takes, great offense, great defense, premier goalie in the league in fabulous form. Whatever, f***, it's gonna be just another year in Mestis. And I better start to resign my players, I have absolutely none contracts extended for next season and it's March already :-o

End of the fifth season, and I claim my second Cup. The first was in Overtime of Game Seven, and this time my team tried to outdo themselves in terms of drama.
