I've made it very clear that I feel that the team ownership and management as well as personel decisions have been, are currently and continue to be terrible. So that my hometeam is admittedly a total joke does not factor into my opinions on trades, but if you want to discount them because of that fine.Systemfel wrote:Gotta love trash talking from a fan whose team is 20 points out of the playoffs and almost the worst in the divison.Minstrel wrote:Betuzzi fits in perfectly with Detroit![]()

I find Detroit's "Hockeytown" claim odeous at best, an attitude of superiority that is neither earned or deserved that is carried obnoxiously to look down your nose at the rest of the league and hockey fans in general. The most obnoxious and disrespectful sports fans I've ever seen are those wearing the Wing in Chicago's United Center. So yes, I make no secret of that I detest everything about Detroit and their hockey team. The only thing I had respect for was Scotty Bowman who is a fantastic hockey mind and great coach and Steve Yzerman who was the prototypical leader/captain. I've made both of those clear as well over time. Now however? They are just a sad group of overrated players whose fans think they are easily 15x better than they actually are whose hopes ride on the most overrated goaltender of all time which is in a way fitting I feel.
For me? I laugh at Detroit not being able to get any "big ticket" players at the deadline because they have no prospects to offer from their mainly failed efforts at buying themselves the Cup so they can feel that they actually deserve the self-given title of "Hockeytown". This Detroit team again averages what 35? This year will be like whenever Detroit would win the President's and then get ousted in the first round because the team of hired guns couldn't play as a team. Why would anyone think this year's team has any better chance?
And if you want to talk about sad performances? Yes the Hawks are terrible and have been for a very long time, but how much sadder is it to get swept in the first round AND also have no future like the Wings? Nobody expected this sorry assed collection of half-talents to do anything so is it surprising the Hawks suck again this year? No. But then they haven't dubbed themselves "Hockeytown" and can't make it out of the first round. I find that even sadder.
And Detroit needed something at the deadline and all they got was a lockerroom/attitude problem who may or may not be able to play. So yes, I laugh. Just as I will when the Wings are making golf reservations a week or so into other team's marches to the Cup Finals.
You see, there is a difference between trash talk and truth.
