Finished first regular season and Im kind of widdled now - we'r out of playoffs. ](*,)
Our position is 9th, just before Columbus which have only 1 point more than us.

In 3rd quarter we was on fire and everyone was helthy. Only Gagner missed 4 games. JDD notched 2 shutouts and he was close to make 4 more shutouts.

In 4th quarter our best position in league was 6th.. I taked rest of season too relaxed and suddenly noticed that Columbus and San Jose are in big winning streak.. that was too late to do anything.. last month was just horrible to us. Latest 4 games was like 4-5 1-4 5-6 4-5 losses. There was some injurys like Gagner, Smid and Gilbert. Horcoff injury was las punch to my face.

Here I post my 1st season Summary... :-k

I started the challenge not as bad as expected but with every day the challenge proceeded my team got worse and worse, especially goaltending and defense was simply terrible, due to trying every possible line and defensive tactic i was not able to overcome my goaltending (JDD was ok, Dubnyk awful and Roy wasnt much better) ....

after about 60 games i knew that i wouldnt have a chance to make the playoffs so i decided to give Springfield a little boost by adding Gilbert and Dubnyk.
Smid, Cogliano, Gagner and Brule were already done there after about 50 games and finally they made the playoffs getting to the Calder Cup final, where they lost 3-4 against Peoria (Pääjärvi-Svensson added 4 goals in 4 games, but that wasnt enough)

I was quite happy with the performance of the 2 top lines (mostly Penner(Moreau at the end) - Horcoff - Hemsky / O'Sullivan - Comrie - Nilsson) but there is definetly improvement necessary in the defensive end of the game...

I just started 2nd preseason and was able to aquire Fleury for Pisani and Rajala =D>

I wanted to go for Derek Morris to replace Staios, but couldnt... Other options would have been Ruslan Fedotenko as good 2-way player or Matt Cooke but I also couldnt sign them so I am heading for a hopefully great waiver aquisition :-k

I really love this challenge and I think that this season I will be easily able to make the playoffs, having in mind that i had about 5-10 more shots per game that i had against and a save percentange averaging around 85 or less percent...

Ahh I forgot to say that I ended in 30th place of the league but couldnt win the 1st draftpick (but I am not unhappy with that) and drafted Cam Fowler with the 2nd, I think he will be ready for the NHL in one or 2 years, my chief-scout says he is a more talented version of Seabrook and he has fantastic numbers in juniors....

The last thing: The Carolina Hurricanes won the SC beating the Canucks after getting only the 8th place in the East (the Sabres won the Eastern Conference =D> )

Someone was able to get a good waiver pick in the 2nd season??

greets and good luck

That's a tough one losing the draft lottery, Flying_Buffalo! Still, Fowler is a nice consolation prize. He'll look great on your blueline. Do you plan to send him back to Junior or are you going to have him on your team for season 2?

Hmmm, not sure yet, but I think that I will sign him and put him on the Springfield roster, because i already have a fantastic staff down there and plan to play wit Cogliano-Gagner-Pääjärvi and Smid one more year as top line and exactly there i want to play Fowler....

I don't think you can send Fowler to Springfield. He should still have a Junior team that holds his rights. He can play in the AHL until he hits 20. It's either NHL or Junior.

Well due to computer issues and some time away, I am way behind again on my second challenge.just posted my first stats.
Pretty interesting so far.Got myself a good goalie coach in Clint Malarchuk, figured JDD would need all the help he could get.Hes not getting any from the team.We are all offense here.Kept Gagner up as 2nd centre and powerplay. He's doing fine.Rotating some players through 3rd and 4th lines, trying to find some good combinations. Most success has been with 3 offensive lines.
having some trouble with PP and PK.
Ill try to speed things up now.

Ahhh right forgot that .....

hmm, I dont think that he has he chance in the NHL right now, well maybe 2nd line and 2nd PP but I think that he wont be able to get good numbers, well I could try how he performs the first few games, right? and then send him back?

What do you think Bruins72, will he get worse if he gets only decent numbers in Edmonton?

Honestly, I'd probably send him back for at least 1 season. Let him be a star in Junior and develop further for you.

I finally finished the regular season. I'll post stats once I do my playoffs and get to July 1st. That probably won't happen until tomorrow though.

So Calgary won the President's Trophy with 118 points. We finished 4th in the Western Conference with 101. I'm quite pleased with that. Horcoff lead the league with 120 points. Hemsky was next with 115 (tied with Brad Richards). O'Sullivan was 6th with 107. He also lead all rookies in scoring. Cogliano and Penner (along with Iginla) were tied for 14th with 94 points. Cogliano was also 3rd in scoring among rookies. Comrie was 19 in the league in scoring with 93 points (tied with Michalek and Gagne). Hemsky was tied with Kunitz for the league lead in goals with 51. I have a feeling that Kunitz will get the Rocket Richard because he only played 79 games and Hemsky played all 82. Horcoff had the second best average rating in the league with 9.27, trailing only Marleau who had 9.30.

We're facing the Columbus Blue Jackets in the first round of the playoffs. We had some trouble with them in the regular season. They outscored us 18-14 and had a record of 3-1-0 against us. We'd better be sharp! Why can't Steve Mason be injured?

It was hard to make my mind with 2nd season trades and free agency.
Finally i decided to fall trade like this: Horcoff, Comrie <-> Conklin, Jackman
Horcoff trade made some room to cap and Comrie was just useless for my team. Cogliano fits much better to 2nd line as scorer.
Jackman brings some toughness to my defence, so I hope that my PK starts to work somehow.
Conklin seems to be consistent and balanced goalie and can split season with JDD fine.. and there really wasn't any better goalies available. Toskala, Esche, Thomas or Bryzgalov - No thanks. Conklin trade doesn't move bad goalie situtation too far though.
From free agency I signed two old soldiers Yelle and Maltby to help PK.. hopefully they dont fall down in next season.

We swept the Blue Jackets in the first round and now we're facing the Ducks in the second round. I wonder how far these guys can make it?

And my playoff run is done. I lost in game 7 to the Ducks in the second round. Still, 7 playoff wins with this team isn't bad for the first season.

Congratulations bruins72, thats not bad at all =D>

I have a little problem in fact.... Played about 15 games into the second season and doing quite well, I'm within the playoffspots and won more games than I lost, but the president seems to be unhappy with my performance and fired me after winning against Colorado....

I read that its possible to rejoin with another GM :-D, lucky to have that possibility...

here the necessary screenshots

Fired

Budget

Hope that it is ok if I simply rejoin with another GM, I won't touch the save so I can reload if it's not allowed....

Thank you

Flying_Buffalo, you're okay to add a new GM and continue the game. You were within your budget.
