Thanks, but there is no need to put player signings in here. We will have the minor leagues updated with the latest signings. If you want to discuss them, do it in the Hockey Talk Forum
Just mentioned it in case the Wolves were already updated without the addition of Chelios.

I don't want to discuss the signing. I was told to list updates for 09/10 by Lidas in this forum.

Zac Rinaldo and Michael Liambas from OHL should have dirtyness set to 20. They are supermen in terms of boarding. :thdn:

Correction, Liambas shouldnt even be in the OHL, hes as good as done now with that suspension he was given! Will he be a free agent? Taken out of DB? Or still with his team? And I also agree Zac Rinaldo should have a 18-20 for dirtyness

Rinaldo is brutal. However, Liambas is a kid who has had a decent junior career...straight a student. He is 5'9...and that hit is no more dirty than what happens every 3rd day in the show by mistake by someone. BTW--he played in the IHL a bit last year and by all accounts did quite well.

again--it was a bad hit...but it was one bad hit. In his 4 years (only 2 full seasons) he has been suspended two times. Not sure what for as it does not say. I am sure we would have heard though if it were dirty horrible hits. But he is a scrapper.....anyway Liambas by all accounts is a good kid both on and off the ice.

Honestly, he is 20 years old...Finelli is 16. This is more of the root of the problem..having 20 and 16 (just barely) playing together in the same league. Kids and men,.

Alex Ovechkin 20 for dirty? CAuse he did something stupid and made a mistake one time...lets get realistic here.

Roman Berdnikov

Post by PensFan101 »

Since I know the OHL researcher wouldn't have seen Roman Berdnikov (Owen Sound - OHL), I figured I'd give you a brief scouting report. I've already watched him in two games, so there may not be a better source.

Pros:
-Good skater
-Great hands, heavy shot (haven't seen his slap shot, but his wrist shot is quite good).
-Isn't afraid to muck it up (looks willing to throw a hit here and there, is quite good in the corners)
-Very good determination and work ethic
-Good passer
-Has some moves he likes to use on defenders

Cons:
-Gets stuck behind the play a couple of times
-His positioning is everywhere, he'll often play both wings in a shift
-Great shot, but has trouble finding the net
-Fitness and strength may be an issue until he gets up to speed

It's a broad scouting report, so maybe I'll simplify it.

I'd say he's a Top 6 OHL forward at this point, and based on pre-season rankings anyway is a good bet to get drafted. I would say he's a dangler if I had to classify him as one thing: he's chippy, but he's also a shifty offensive forward.

Hopefully some changes can be implemented for the next update so Berdnikov isn't a randomly generated player (in as many categories). He's a talented youngster and should be considered an NHL level prospect at this point.

if you would like any more information (I'll get to see him again this weekend), please let me know. And since I'm fairly new to this forum, I figure I'd throw my hat in if the project needed another OHL researcher, because I get to see a lot of the guys in the Western Conference, and can shed some light on some of the smaller teams (such as Owen Sound).

Sorry, but I do not think it is a good idea to go off individual reports from someone who is watching a game here and there to rate guys. You have to go off what we are doing to make the game the best it can be...the shadd sheet, and the prospect ratings. As rankings for the draft come out and SCOUTING reports from scouts come out, we can look at pinning down a player's abilities, but individual reports from fans will not make the game accurate. Sorry...not to pick on you, but we need to stick to the sources that are known to be accurate at least some of the time.

Otherwise the Laffs and Bruins would have fourth liners that look like NHL stars because so many of the guys watch their games and are loyal to their teams, and we have so many of their fans here.

Anecdotal reports are good...but they need to be from scouts to make it into the game to keep the game accurate.

I mean I could tell you that Kevin Bieksa is underrated in the game, but you know what...he is not. He is just a guy.

I can certainly understand that, considering the amount of work put into the DB, it seems only reasonable that players be judged by the same scale (in this case, professionals).

Just figured I'd add what I know because so far the kid has played 3 OHL games, and beyond that has played very little other than in the 3rd Russian League and the U17 challenge, so information is extremely scarce. Before I got to watch him, the official was scouting report was "highly skilled, offensive right winger with a right handed shot," as per the Attack website.

And that's his player page: http://www.attackhockey.com/player_viewV2.asp?id=270

As an Attack fan and avid EHM player, I'd just like to be able to play as my hometown team with players rated properly, since Berdnikov is definitely a good player. Either way, bringing him up helps ensure that he gets re-rated for an update.

He is not randomized any longer. Btw, you are requesting in the wrong thread. This one is for the 2008/09 update.
Please use this thread for the 09/10 version.
