I'm about to start training camp in my third year as the Leafs (using the updated rosters). After two pretty disappointing seasons, well one actually I bombed the first one so I could draft Tavares, I made a bunch of blockbuster deals and signings. My new lineup going into my third season looks like:
Kovalchuk - O. Jokinen - Grabovsky
Madden - Tavares - Kulemin
A. Carter - Vasicek - Devereaux
Tlusty - Brassard - Callahan
Morrisonn - Phaneuf
Eminger - A. Semenov
Schenn - (unknown)
Toskala & Toivonen
In my last season Grabovsky had 101 points, Madden had 25 points (in 21 games on my team), kulemin had 49 points (in 71 games playing on the 4th line with powerplay time) and Vasicek had 64 points in 81 games and Semenov was named the fan's player of the year.
I'm looking forward to this year! (since I probably wont be able to afford all these players next year...)

For me i've decide to start a game with the Montreal Canadien. After see Gainey struggle again this year on the deadline ( and last year, and 2 years ago.....
) I want to take this team and build it to win the stanley cup quickly as I can.
I will do this game like my own challenge. I've made three trade after the training camp and I won't do it more that's enough. On the deadline if I in a good position to make the series I will do 2 trade to improve my team, but if i'm sure the team won't get into the spring competition than i can make the trade I want to clean up some old stuff ( Koivu, Kovalev, Niinima ) My goal is to try to win the cup in less than 4 years. If the Habs are to stupid to improve well in real life than I will make them a real powerfull team in EHM. It's like my revenge on Gainey cause he s
pretty bad and I start to think is not the man for the situation.
So my line-up is....:
Samsonov -Koivu -Kovalev
Higgins -Plekanec- Ryder
Begin - Bonk - Streit
Perezoghin -Murray- Downey
Markov - Souray
Niinima - Beauchemin
Bouillon - Rivet
Goalie : Huet - Ouellet
I play with the original database and the 3.0.4 patch.

After trying to learn the game with the Boston Bruins(tm) and consequently getting fired, I have begun a new career as manager of the OHL London Knights.
Currently Tavares, Doughty, Holland, Lacouture and Sam Gagne are the star players playing for my team, putting up some nice numbers and wins.
After reaching the semi finals last year, they won it all this year. It is all still rather vague to me, but I can see the players improving and I know that these youngsters can be rather inconsistent, winning 13-2 and losing 6-1.
I am not entirely sure if picking a youth team like this is the best way to learn the ins-and-outs, but I won't be having any salary problems.
It is quite gratifying to see your youngsters being selected 1,2,3 and 5 overall in the NHL draft.

Half way (40 games) through season 2 with the Coyotes and I am sitting 2nd in the Western Conference with a 22-14-4 record.
I started off really well but them went on a bad slump, winning just 2 of 10 games. I swapped tactics a little and swapped Jokinen for Reinprecht and things slowly improved to the point where i've shot up from 7th to 2nd in no time at all.
Doan is leading the points tally again with Mueller in 2nd place, exceeding expectations, with Jokinen in 3rd:
Top 5 Point Scorers:
Doan: 29 - 25 = 56
Mueller: 22 - 33 = 55
Jokinen: 21 - 30 = 51
Stafford: 14 - 22 = 36
Reinprecht: 8 - 20 = 28
Boumedienne & Woywitchka (sp) havent impressed so I claimed Doug Janik from waivers who's slotted in well.
My current line up is?
Mueller - Jokinen - Doan
Hecht - Reinprecht - Stafford
Pyatt - Garlock - Mair
Prust - Hanzal - Parker/Lisin
Jovanovski - Van Ryn
Eminger - Klee
Janik - Clymer
Bryzgalov
Toivonen
Also, which he is playing steadily but not pulling up any trees it seems EVERYONE is trying to get Eminger from me! I am being bombarded with trade offers. Nothing decent enough upto yet though.

Probably you have him on the first line and the first PP line so his scoring a lot of points. And the other teams look at his stats and want these points, too. But they want them cheap..
I've had those kind of trade offers pretty often when you never get a reasonable package for a player who is performing surprisingly well for whatever reasons. And it's just because the player's general talent is not very high (like Eminger whose potential is about 140 if i remember correctly).

He has 20 points (3+17) from 47 games and an AVR of 7.64.
So i'm not going to let him go cheap. lol

It's like 7-8 games before reaching 82 games and the playoffs and what happens?
Montoya, starting goalie gets injured... 4 months ACL(?)...knee(?)
Well. Okey, I got Kuparinen. He is not that good as Montoya, but he is like 1C compared to Montoya. Call-up for Carey Price(who sucks...32years old)
Next game.
Kuparinen, starting goalie gets injured... 4 months ACL(?)...knee(?). Call-up for a 24 year old naff goaltender to be Price's backup.
Playoffs, here we come...

I ended season two 5th overall in a VERY tight Western Conference with a record of: 44-29-9
I beat Colorado 4-2 in the first round of the playoffs, then calmly despatched the Red Wings 4-1 and did the same to Vancouver so I went on to meet the Sabres in the Stanley Cup Final!
I took the first game 7-2, lost the second 2-1 (Reinprecht injured), lost the third 2-1, lost the fourth 6-4 and finally lost the final game 3-1. darn.
Player-wise I made one significant change on deadline day. Atlanta made several offers for Olli Jokinen so I decided to see how serious they were by offering Jokinen plus an average prospect for Kovalchuk, which they accepted and I soon signed him to a 2 year contract extension.
He played a few games, then missed 3 weeks through injury. Just as he came back Doan went out for 3 weeks, then Drew Stafford for 2 weeks and Eminger for 2 weeks.
I also picked up Prucha in exchange for Ben Clymer and Warrener for Hecht.
An injury hit team went 2-0 down in the series to colorado before pulling it back and winning 4-2.
My Stanley Cup Runners Ups:
Kovalchuk - Mueller - Doan
Prucha - Reinprecht - Stafford
Pyatt - Garlock - Mair
Prust - Hanzal - Parker/Lisin
Jovanovski - Van Ryn
Eminger - Warrener
Boumedienne - Klee
Bryzgalov
Toivonen
Top 5 Point Scorers:
Mueller - 37+60 = 97
Doan - 41+54 = 95
Stafford - 30+38 = 68
Reinprecht - 19+41 = 60
Van Ryn - 8+46 = 54
The first of my young crop will start to come through next season. I intend to use Ahnelov & Wilson as my 5 & 6 d-men. Wilson had a very impressive season in the AHL with 23+55=78 from 80 games.
I will probably trade away Prust and Reinprecht to give Tarnasky and Winnick/Tikhonov a go at 4th line LW and C position as Hanzal will move up to 2nd line centre.

Hello all. It's been awhile. I decided to try something different with my latest game, and start off unemployed, working my way up to the NHL. I originally signed on to be the Huston Aeros AHL GM in August of 2007. In the January I took on the job as the Czech Republic U20 GM on the side and have been with them ever since. My Aeros made the playoffs first season I was there, but were swept. I resigned after we went 0-11-4 to start the next season so I could focus on my Czech duties. I stayed like that for awhile, until just before Christmas, 2009, when the Bridgeport Sound Tigers had an opening and I applied. Bridgeport won one playoff round under me, and on Febuary 9th, 2011 the St. Louis Blues came calling.
After five years of working in the minors, winning the World Juniors three times (coming in second a fourth), Winning 11 U20 tournaments, and two playoff rounds, I finally had a job in the NHL. My Blues missed the playoffs the first year I was there by one point, being bumped by the eventual Stanley Cup champion Anahiem Ducks. Year Two, we make the playoffs as the seventh seed, only to lose in 5 to Calgary. Now, I am just prior to Training Camp for the 2012-2013 season with a lineup like this...
Marco Sturm (35) - Andy McDonald (37, C) - Milan Hejduk (38)
T.J. Oshie (27) - Tomas Kana (26, Future #1) - Micheal Ryder (34)
Richard Panik (23) - Lars Eller (25) - Sean Bergenheim (30)
Markus Granlund* (21, Rookie) - Krill Polozov (23, Rookie) - Rastislav Dej (26)
*Granlund won the award for AHL best forward, and leading scorer (124 point season last year)
Nicklas Kronwall (33, A) - Erik Johnson (26, A)
Travis Hamonic (24) - Alex Pietrangelo (24)
Dan Girardi (30) - Jyri Niemi* (24, Rookie)
*Won AHL MVP Award and Sportsmanlike Conduct award, First AHL All Star Team
Viliam Neckar**(21, Rookie)
Oyannis Gunnarsson (20, Rookie)
**Hasek Regen, first season in the AHL Runner up in AHL MVP, Rookie of the year runner up, Best Goaltender award (61-11-2 record), Third place for Sportsmanlike Conduct, Best GAA, First AHL All Star Team.
I ws going to have Gunnarsson play the year in the AHL, but my starter from last year (Theodore) refused to re-sign for less then $4 million, and my backup who I re-signed (Brian Boucher) retired just before Training Camp.
Nikolai Antropov, who scored 89 points last season, tore his ACL two days before Training Camp, and is out for 8! months.
I am hoping to make a run this season before my prospects want more money, as I am sitting at $50 million at the moment.
Oh, and my GM Record is 183-172-34. I am the second highest rated GM in the US.

I got a new computer.. and so started a few new games... one with the Kingston Frontenacs, which i worked some cheap deals to get Taylor Hall, Logan Couture, and Thomas McCollum... however, Mavric Parks, who I traded away to get McCollum was right behind him in goalie stats. The Prince Albert Raiders fired their GM and so I added a GM and applied for the job, and to my surprise, I got it, Got them into the playoffs on the Final game of the season.. well.. 2nd last game which my team won, but last game it was down to Brandon losing.. which I did and lucily so did they. Taking the Regina Pats into 7 games I lost the final 4-2. Vancouver went on to win the WHL Title, besting the Red Deer Rebels in 7 games. Well my frontenacs made short work of my first playoff opponent, winning 4 games to 1, then won round 2, going all the way to 7 games. Round 3 was won in 6 games. ok.. just check, first series I took on Peterborough, 2nd round was Belleville, 3rd round was against the Generals of Oshawa (couple of overtime wins there) and in the final I met up with Windsor, where they met their maker.. I swept them. Logan Couture ended the season with 105 points in 65 games, he had 55 points in the playoffs. The good ol CHL where anyone can be traded for anyone.. or anything. including a sketchy 50 grand to Oshawa for the rights to John Tavares, after the Coyotes signed him.
Now I am going strong with the Canucks. made a couple deals, sending likely goalie prospect Lukas Mensator to the Coyotes for what I thought was a steal of a 3rd round pick, maybe they see something special. Oh, and Phil Kessel of all people was put on the block, snatched him up. also signing a bunch of prospects, and a few college/echl/ahl players
Matt Gilroy, Jarrett Bottomley, umm a couple more, also signed some young players out of europe. Bjorn Svensson(whom I believe is Magnus's brother.. or step brother..) Also, Oscar Hedman, and Rob Hisey. Oh and I grabbed Robert Esche as a UFA, signed USP Ilya Kablukov, and a random 24 year old Korean to play on my 4th line, joining me next season.
I'm also controlling my AHL Affiliate the Manitoba Moose, signed a couple players here, Christian Hanson (hehe, hope he fights dirty like his old man) and Matt Craig.
well, I'm doing quite well with both teams(after I took over the Moose) the Canucks are 31-9-3 (2nd behind the Ducks, go figure) and the Moose are 25-12-0 (3rd in thier Division, but who can compete with the Griffins and the Marlies)
Sundin leads the NHL with 24-55-79pts in 43 games and Alex Edler leads all rookie defense in points, and +/-, also leads all NHL defense in Goals with 12
OK, brought up trade window:
Out: Curtis Sanford and 4th round pick in 2008
In: Jonathan Blum
Out: Rights to Prab Rai
In: PJ Axelsson
Out: Lukas Mensator
In: 3rd round pick in 2008
Out: Taylor Pyatt and Colby Genoway
In: Phil Kessel (I know, What the Dickens?)
Out: Jeff Cowan
In: 4th round pick in 2008
Out: Rights to Ilya Krikunov
in: Rights to Jared Staal
Ok this one is retarded, but teams like him
Out: Jason Krog and 3rd round pick in 2008
In: Jack Johnson
and that concludes my Update.

Just finished 2020/21 season with Detroit and Pittsburgh. Actually both teams ended up at 144 points. They switched between 1st and 2rd the entire season and for a long time it looked like Penguins finally would win President's Trophy. Though, losing it on goaldifference in the end.
Both teams qualified for the Stanley Cup finals, Pittsburgh had to outbattle Rangers in the Eastern Semifinals, but other than that. Both teams had a nice ride to the finals.
It looked like it was going to be another sweep for Detroit, but Pittsburgh battled back to tie it 2-2 in the series(twice in OT, one on penalty shot), before Detroit won the last to with 5-3 and 5-0. Another cup for the Wings, third straight finals loss for Penguins against Red Wings. Maybe next season for them. And Rangers might even be tougher next season, after signing 37 year old Jay Bouwmeester during off-season.

The Coyotes have missed the playoffs with a 35-37-10 record. There were many surprises and a few dissapointments this season. Some of the dissapointments were Ryan Duncan, he scored 50 points in his rookie season last year and this season finished with only 3 goals and 9 assists for 12 points. Devin Setoguchi was another dissapointment tallying only 14 points.
The top performers this season:

Im playing with Sabres in the 2014-2015 season. Last season was good, finished 6rd in confrence, and then winning Sabres history first Stanley Cup
.
My lines were something like these:
Vanek-Thornton-T.Ruutu
Nash-O´marra/Savard-Adamec (crazy 22 year old sniper, 32 goals in rookie season
)
Juutilainen (regen, like jarkko ruutu, but much better offensive skils)-O´marra/Savard-Asham
Torres-Wellwood-some random players.
D-pairs:
Kaberle-Sarich
Weber-Jurcina
R.Jackman-Cloutier (whoop ass skilled d-man, only 20 years old, 88 pts in 30 games in OHL.)
In this season, lines are exactly same, only Savard, rights to max. 2nd pair d-man and Asham -> Malkin
.
As you can see, my 2 lines are like nuclear weapons, both very expensive and very brutal.
EDIT: Oh, i forgot goalies : D Miller-Janssons. Janssos is regen, i think he is Arturs Irbe, because he is latvian, and now he is 21 years old, and almost better than Miller, Miller only has better glove and blokker than Janssons.

Starting with the 2006/2007 roster that has Forsberg in free agency, I've been playing as the Canucks. I have a TV tuner on my PC (let's me watch TV in a window), so I play EHM while watching non-Canucks games on TV. It's pretty fantastic.
I'm heading into the 2011/2012 season, having won three of the five possible cups and every President's Trophy. The two Cups I missed, the Flames annihilated me in the second round and the 8th seed Anahiem Ducks beat me in seven games and went on to win the Cup. That included a nail-biter five-OT game five.
My current roster has all kinds of value contracts that, while I haven't used any pre-game or save-game editors at any point, are probably considered cheating. I have Evgeni Malkin making $1.7 million (but a pending UFA), Mike Richards and Benoit Pouliot making $1.76 million for the next seven seasons.
The lineup and salaries:
Henrik Zetterberg (4) / Peter Forsberg (4.6) / Markus Naslund (4.5)
Benoit Pouliot (1.76) / Evgeni Malkin (1.7) / Trent Hunter (4.5)
Kenneth McArdle (1.5) / Mike Richards (1.76) / Ryan Kesler (1.2)
Martin Hanzel (0.5) / Gilbert Brule (0.775) / Niklas Hagman (0.75)
Mattias Ohlund (5.15) / Chris Pronger (4)
Luc Bourdon (0.53) / Mike Green (1.5)
Kyle McLaren (2.1) / Mikko Jokela (1.4)
Roberto Luongo (5.25) / Gerald Coleman (0.5)
I also have John Tavares, Steve Stamkos, Alex Pietriangelo, Carey Price, Zach Hamill, Nikita Filatov, and Victor Hedman on my AHL afiliate and what I'm pretty sure is the Hasek regen on as an unsigned prospect.
Through the seasons, I've gotten incredible results out of Forsberg. His first two seasons with the club, he posted 46g 106a 152p and 40g 103a 143p seasons and the other three are all 120+ points. Ohlund has brought back-to-back Norris and Hart trophies. Naslund had to have corrective surgery that put him out for most of the first season (he came back in time for the playoffs and wound up winning the Conn Smythe, a feat he repeated again in 2011, with 16 goals in 18 games).
If there's been one issue I've had throughout, however, it's been the constantly sub-par play of Roberto Luongo. He seems to pick his game up considerably in the playoffs (but not always), but throughout the regular season, while he has small stretches of great play here and there, he invariably winds up 0.904-ish save percentages overall (despite shattering single-season win records because the rest of the team simply outscores his problems). I assume it's due to my coaching tactics, but I'm hesistant to mess with something that's working despite Luongo's problems.
