Just kind of a random point:
I don't know if I've already pointed this out or not, but ESPN has a 'consolation ladder' as a part of the post-season festivities. That means our league will have our main playoffs to determine a league champion, and at the same time, everyone who didn't make the playoffs will be playing in what appears to be a mini-league with each other.
The thing I'd like to point-out, though, is that I can't decipher how this consolation "ladder" works. The way ESPN has it set-up doesn't appear to be a traditional ladder where each winner moves on until one team is left standing. So, I think what we may end-up doing is this:
The six teams who don't make our playoffs will compete in this consolation ladder, as per standard ESPN set-up. And for the sake of our league, we'll create a table, and treat it as a "relegation league". The top-3 teams at the end of this relegation league will be saved from relegation, and the bottom three will be our relegated teams.
As you may have gathered from that, that means the teams who finish in the bottom three during the regular season - your season is not officially over at that point. You'll have a chance to redeem yourself with a top-3 finish in the relegation league.
Since this isn't a standard function of ESPN (besides the initial consolation ladder set-up) I'll officially track this table in an OpenOffice spreadsheet, and I'll regularly keep updates posted on the league's home page.
**Again, I can't really decipher the consolation ladder set-up, so I'm not 100% this will be a do-able system, but for right now, I think it'll work. It should all be clearer once we actually see how this part of ESPN's game works.**

Been there, made that kind of mistake. It is frustrating.
Cool on the consolation ladder. But I will not be needing it. Clinched a playoff spot for sure now...in fact I can only finish as low as 5th and that is if I lose all 6 remaining games. Which I might starting to get little injuries and illnesses now.

Post from Stinson way back. 3 goalies. Only 4 if one on IRB. Stinson wrote:I haven't heard anything back from ESPN regarding our goalie setting changing, and my guess is that I won't hear anything.
So just a reminder: The 3-goalie max. will always be in effect for our league. Any acquisition exceeding this limit will be removed as soon as possible without warning. You may have four if one is on IR.

Interesting day today...
Jovocop sure is inconsistent. 4A and +4 yesterday... 0P and -5 today. Ouch
I couldnt decide which goalies to pick today, but I guess it didnt matter that much. All three had shutouts!
Need to improve my +/- stats - anyone want to trade for Souray?
Keepers... dunno who to pick.
GK - Leaning towards Vokoun, but Anderson and DiPietro are also interesting.
D - Phaneuf and (probably) Hedman. Hope he can step up his game next season.
LW - Nash
C - This is tough. Probably Datsyuk, but it feels hard to drop Carter.
RW - Weakest position. Doan is the keeper.
Anyone wants to trade a good RW (better than Doan) for Carter?

Hmm... probably. It would weaken my team for the end of this season, but since none of the players I'd send away are keepers for next season I'd probably accept.batdad wrote:Yeah I got a great one...but I cannot work it with you...
Oh and Lidas---I toyed with something....but I just cannot give up Iggy even though the Flames are sucking...
Curious: Would you have accepted:
Blake
Iginla
Pavelski
for
Doan
Carter
