With the original DB it's true that Scatchard was kicking a**. I remember getting him once and on the third line always finish the season at 7.70 and +.
By the way Darren Helm sign a two years contract with the Wings.

Mike Modano with the Wings is now official.

Personally, he should have ended is career instead of going in another team, plus it's the Wings......

If he wasn't going to end his career in Dallas, he should have done it in Minnesota.

P.s. Scatchard is very overrated in Ehm, I hate that he allways wins Selke Trophy

Are you still playing with the original DB?[/quote]
I've played original db whole summer.

Great signing for them. He will probably play with Hudler as on of his wingers. Once Hudler decides to shoot the puck more, Modano will be a great set-up man. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how many goals they can put up this season with a healthy Franzen playing 1st line minutes. I mean the guy is a point per game player in the playoffs, he will surely bag 30+ this season. Hudler will do great as well, with a renewed look at the NHL and the Red Wings.

Hopefully he can pick up his offensive game a little bit this year. He lost his third line center spot with the signing of Modano, but he will be one of the best fourth line centers in the game. Very solid in his defensive zone and wheels that can burn the ice, I can't wait to see how he progresses further.

Detroit wanted him, he wanted Detroit. They pursued him heavily since July 1st and they will provide him with a great team. It's the perfect situation to go out on top and try to win another Stanley Cup. Minnesota would have just been another playoff-less season for him.

Modano has a long history with Ilitch having captained a Little Caesar's team back when he was oh...12.

John Madden goes to Wild. They made one-year-deal.
Martin Gerber makes comeback to NHL. He made one-year-deal with Oilers.
Maxim Afinogenov goes to KHL. He made 5-year-deal with SKA St. Petersburg.
Chris Chelios retires.

Just can't stand why...

I'm surprise to see Gerber make a comeback here, thought he would just stay in Europe instead.

Selänne is going to continue his career in Anaheim. They're going to start negotiations these days.
I heard rumours that Paul Kariya is going to Anaheim too.

It's Selanne who said to the Ducks he wants to finish his career with him, it could be cool.

Riley Cote as retire and now he will be a assistant-coach to the Phantoms.......Futur looks good for goon at Philly for sure with this one. It's probably the best decision this guy make in his entire life.

Yep! Even if he's one of my fav player. I'm happy this deal was refused, time to show who's the boss now.

Islanders has lots of cap space for Kovalchuk, but i don't think that Kovalchuk wants to go there.

I don't understand his thinking. I know the Isles are not a Cup Contender now, but they are a big market team with the talent for some major growth in the future.

Just the fact it's in N-Y maybe.

Plus, the Isles management sometimes sucks really bad, even if they got a good futur, I don't trust that team too much.

I definitely agree with you here. Garth Snow as GM needs to go. The Isles owner however, has enough money to support this team in the future. Kovalchuck could help them get the new arena they wanted.

Thrashers has cap space also, but they have no change to be Cup contender. Isles have better change, they just need a lots of good luck and they have to pass DiPietro away. But no-one wants him. If he wants money, he should go to KHL. But that's not good advertise for NHL.
Antti Niemi hasn't good chances to be starting goalie next season. Sharks needs starting goalie, I don't think that they're going with Niittymäki whole season if they want the Cup.

Kovalchuk with Atlanta is over. If they had to sign, it would be already done before the dead-line IMO.
Bestrafer7, I talk about more of Snow than the owner. A sucky management doesn't help getting good players but maybe in two, three years, when the young boys will grown up they'll be able to get players like Kovalchuk

According to capgeek.com the team with the lowest cap is the Avalanche. Kovalchuk would look great playing with Stastny or Duchene

OMG that would be awesome.

But I don't think that will happen though.

Are the Kings still interesting in signing Kovy?
