Yeah, i get that feeling too... Canada and some parts of USA should be the biggest market so hope they try to cap it...Manimal wrote:Yeah, it feels like most of the noobs comin in here are from Europe and not so many North Americans.Peter_Doherty wrote:Don't think there is, hope they atleast do some real marketing in Canada (and the Hockey parts of USA).

From my experience since joining the sports management community, Europeans are more interested in these type of games than Americans so I am not surprise at the amount that are trying this game vs Americans. I am sure marketing would help because there are a few guys who were EA NHL GM Mode players who are trying this game and some of them have a following on Twitch for their EA NHL streams and most of their viewers didn't even know what this game was but were interested.

While I visited this site from time-to-time, I found out about EHM:EA on a banner on gamersgate. Does anyone know whether it has been featured on Steam yet?
Love EHM. I hope they get the numbers they need to continue developing the game, as in my view, this is by far the best hockey "sim" available today. I wouldn't count out European sales if language translations become available and hockey leagues not yet included for certain countries, are added. While hockey is not football in Europe, it is a important sport in Russia, Sweden, Czech Republic, Finland, Slovakia, Switzerland, Germany, etc.
Also gotta love the support shown by passionate English fans on this site.

Re: EHM:EA Sales Stats
It is weird how we all got to buy this game. I just happened to open Steam after 2 years, because I was wondering if Battlefield Vietnam was available on Steam, after discussing it with some guys at work.
Out of the blue, I saw a pop up of this game and decided to just buy it. Man, I still have to check if Battlefield Vietnam is on Steam. It's been 4 days!

Way back in 1983 or a year either way I can't recall off the top of my head, the original FM was hugely popular on the then top home computer systems, and even with the ease to which they could be copied and cheats created, it still sold enough to generate 3 or 4 follow on games, each grew in terms of what you could do or not. Even then we Brits were mad about sports management games, I don't think a month went by without a new soccer game or another sport getting the management game treatment. It's probably been the most consistent market for games in the UK since then. Other genres have come and gone, but sports management has always been around, and get the game right and we'll play to the end of time.

Re: EHM:EA Sales Stats
I agree that in general its European gamers who prefer the simulation type of games. It's abit, I dont want to say ignorant because that sounds harsh, to just assume that if it doesn't sell in the US/Canada the game is doomed again! Plenty of people in Europe like hockey too, going by demands just the UK players will keep the game goingSirMichaelJordan wrote:From my experience since joining the sports management community, Europeans are more interested in these type of games than Americans so I am not surprise at the amount that are trying this game vs Americans. Re: EHM:EA Sales Stats
I agree with this assessment, however I think that there are a lot of people in North America who would play a hockey simulation, but don't know about EHM. FM being such a good game drives so many people towards another SI production, which won't be such a factor in countries that aren't big on football/soccer. There is a big opportunity to capitalize in North America because a lot of people think their only option for a hockey game is EA Sports, which is probably also what EA Sports thinks because they haven't improved their game in years.Garethw87 wrote:I agree that in general its European gamers who prefer the simulation type of games. yea I gave him a sub. He seem like a good talker and I assume his vids are great since he's a great talker. I have no interest in the EA Sports game so I hope he do some EHM vids.
and wow that video has almost 20,000 views now!

I haven't played "video games" of any sort in well over a decade. EHM's simulation is really the only game I play (and even then, I spend most of my time researching! HaHa)

Interesting to see the peak starting to go up each day now again, they must be doing some advertising atleast
Or it's just that the community is doing such a good job of helping it spread

Re: EHM:EA Sales Stats
I'm not sure how expensive the licenses are for EHM compared to PCM but i still think that's the closes game we can compare to and it looks pretty good, PCM14 had 500 avg players and a peak of 1200 players during their first month (July), then it went steadily down and in December they had 80 avg players, then as Cycling season started it has increased and now they are around 150 avg players. Those numbers look very doable for EHM so i'm excited and hopeful that it will get picked up so we get licenses and everything for the 2015/2016 season, fingers crossed

I'm in a similar position. Last video games I played were GTA4 and NHL13 or 14 (I think). Not as long ago, but I haven't even plugged my PS3 in and I've lived at my new house for almost three years.nino33 wrote:I'm safe! HaHadaft wrote:Just you wait until the next Steam Sale. Nice find! That's interesting - it pretty much tallies with the number of downloads of the latest roster update.

Assuming that Youtube link was to Johnny Superbman of 2BC, it will be interesting to see how much he covers EHM. The guy is very hard to listen to sometimes (Overdramatic to say the least) but I love watching his videos. And if he can help get people into the game then more power to it!

Re: EHM:EA Sales Stats
9400 in under 2 weeks with limited marketing, sounds really good to me
PCM14 has about 23-24k owners in over 8 months for comparison, i'm liking EHMs chances more and more each day
