Well, that would be swell! Let me know how testing goes!stone169 wrote:Crazy thing. Not sure if I fixed the 'Training Camp' issue, but when opening up the database with the EHM Editor. I went to 'Competitions' and then to 'Transfer Rules' and changed the "Max players in squad' for ECHL from 20 to 89, and changed the 'Max veteran players in squad' from 4 to 89.
Then I loaded it up and simmed to training camp and the game didn't crash when I hit the training camp button.
Like I said, I'm not sure if this is an actual fix or not, but it seems to work. I'll do some more testing.

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
I'm unsure if i'm doing something wrong or not (probably am), as I'm quite a rookie with downloading databases, other stuff away from Steam's Subscription method, but everytime I go to create a game using this database as soon as the loading gets to 'Initializing Game Data' it crashes.
I put the database download file in the database section of the EHM files and the logos pack in the EHM logos files so I think (fingers crossed) I've done all of that right but I'm unsure of what to do to solve the issue.
Any suggestions would be appreciated as I'm really keen to play this!

Did you uncheck "low tier" leagues ? I encountered the same kind of problem when I downloaded the db in the first place, check the very early posts of this topic

Originally attempted to launch with all leagues ticked, then went to Top European and all Canadian and American, then just went with All Canadian and American.
Thanks!

So basically this is what I came up with after doing some testing on the 'Training Camp' crash bug:
Player limits
Everything set to 89
Works
Player limits
Max verteran players in squad set to 4
Works
Player limits (back to original settings)
Max players in squad set to 20
Max verteran players in squad set to 4
Works
Loaded up non-edited database NHL 36 v1.1
Works
Player limits
Max players in squad set to 30
Max verteran players in squad set to 4
Works
So, considering that I loaded up the v1.1 rosters after doing a couple of tests and they worked fine. My conclusions are that I am stumped.

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
I did my own added expansion draft with the use of the NHL availability lists and some random number generators, in order to keep some semblance of fairness or else no one good would be leaving my Ottawa Senators. Players that were on the availability lists that I exempted were players that signed with a different team during free agency. So, for example, players like Nate Thompson and Johnny Oduya would be exempt.

Stone:
A) Thanks for doing that testing, I'll get it incorporated into the next NHL36 release soon.
B) That's awesome what you did with the expansion draft concept. While personally I'm not going to do an update like that for every time I do an update to the DB, if you want to upload the database somewhere, I'd be happy to link it on the front page under the regular download as a "vX.X with Expansion Draft-stocked rosters courtesy of stone169". That way it gives two different types of challenges for people to select from. Using the Editor, you should be able to import the draft results into each new release I do pretty easily...not that you have to do it for every minor tweak I make.

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
@BKarchitect
Hey man, I had a blast with your previous Vegas database, and I want to say thank you for the time and effort you spend making these "alternate" databases!
Already downloaded this one as well, but haven't gotten around to testing it yet. So, can't really give much feedback on this one, other than that Ottawa Senators' Mike Hoffman still has a stickhandling skill of 2...
Also, of course some of the birth dates and height/weight are off, but that might be just nitpickin, I guess. What has bugged me though is the fact that the 'official TBL DB' and yours use different names for players, for example Vasili ~ Vasily, and that causes some missing player pictures.
Don't want to sound ungrateful, above is just my 2 cents! You're doing an awesome job with these!

So, the 'Training Camp' button is crashing again. It's so frustrating because it seems like such an intermittent thing.BKarchitect wrote:Stone:

I believe the TBL database is using the more correct (but maybe less commonly used/less known) Russian translations at least some of the timeraipeh wrote:What has bugged me though is the fact that the 'official TBL DB' and yours use different names for players, for example Vasili ~ Vasily, and that causes some missing player pictures.
I recall this issue came up a few years ago too (IIRC many didn't like the uncommon ways of name spelling, and at least some names were changed back to the more common/known spellings)
I suspect this issue may be a lot more noticeable with a 36 team NHL, with 5 brand new expansion teams looking to sign many players who'd typically be "KHL only" (I'm thinking most who play EHM and focus on the KHL know and likely prefer the Russaian spellings over the spellings more common/known to many other hockey fans)
P.S. I find it can be challenging/difficult to determine spelling using EliteProspects...there doesn't seem to be a standard that's followed, but rather individual volunteers doing different things, mostly (always?) occuring with Russian names
From "the real world" perspective the spelling of names is not something I really think about or have any concerns about whatsoever, but from an EHM perspective (and the use of player photos) it comes up as an issue...

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
Thanks rapieh!
So on the subject of Russian names...if somebody wants to create me a player import xls/csv that changes all the names to match the TBL rosters/photo packs, I'm more than happy to incorporate it but it's not high on my own personal list of things to do. I wager there are some similar issues with club logos in some European leagues. Bottom lines is it works with what I use and I'm not going to try to keep up with the hugely thorough job the TBL team does...and to be honest, I don't want to as this is a different experience...but if you guys want to provide me with import files for use in the editor that make some name changes, I'll definitely incorporate to try and streamline your experiences because that takes basically no work for me
If there are some incorrect birthdays though let me know and I will definitely fix those!

The problem is that the letters of the Cyrillic alphabet is translated differntly to different languages. I don't know the exact details but I do know that swedish and english differ. That's probably why you can't find a standard on EliteProspect.nino33 wrote:I believe the TBL database is using the more correct (but maybe less commonly used/less known) Russian translations at least some of the timeraipeh wrote:What has bugged me though is the fact that the 'official TBL DB' and yours use different names for players, for example Vasili ~ Vasily, and that causes some missing player pictures.

Am I seeing a special NA version of Eliteprospects? Or is it an English site?Yorke wrote:

If it's an English site, I'd think that'd be the standard...
Regardless, with the "a.k.a" that Eliteprospects shows below the "primary name" usually all the name possibilities are shown...it's the primary name that I'm referring to (where sometimes it's the Russian version and sometimes it's the English/NA version)
For example, Yevgeni Malkin is what shows on Elite Prospects (with Evgeni as an a.k.a.) http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=4231
Every NA website I can see uses Evgeni...his twitter shows (at least from here in Canada) Evgeni https://twitter.com/malkin71_?lang=en
So the Russian spelling is used for Malkin (despite it being rarely spelled that way online).....my understanding is Tretiak is the English/NA version, but yet that's what shows as the primary name on Elite Prospects (why not Tretyak like I see used in Russia? it's shown in the a.k.a.) http://www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=21348

In the TBL-rosters we use the NHL/IIHF-transcription on Russians that are based in NA, whilw we use the more correct transcription on the ones based home in Russia.
We wanted the correct transcription on all players but it would lead to so many questions on why players were spelled that way, so we chose to keep the NHL-version for them

EP is a swedish site but I think it has contributers from all over the world. I can't know for sure but I'm guessing that's why there's no standard for russian names on there, different contributors using different translations of the cyrillic alphabet.nino33 wrote: Am I seeing a special NA version of Eliteprospects? To make things even more complicated, many people don't realise that the translation of the cyrillic alphabet differs (Take Malkin as an example, in swedish his first name would be spelled "Jevgenij" but when journalists do they get comments like "His name's Evgeni!").
I doubt there's a special NA/english version of the site.

my question is... with the save editor or any kind of editor is it possible to say move players around at the end of the season. I have 2 options..
A) put in expansion draft picks for all 5 teams not including Vegas as they already have their rosters then that way they will be competitive somewhat season 1..
or B) do i just auto sim 2017 release all of the players from the 5 other teams release all staff and let the computer hire staff and sign players.
My question is why is it that when u start in July 2017 that the computers say u run the AHL but not NHL however the Computer Gms for the NHL expansion teams dont sign any 20-24 yr olds for the farm team in season 1 and the AHL teams are stuck with only 4-5 players on their team on AHL contracts and then the AHL teams only win like 3-4 games the whole season and then the players have like a -200 or something..

And I was trying to explain why that might be.nino33 wrote: What I was pointing out is sometimes they use a Russian translation and sometimes they use the English version (I wasn't talking about different versions of a Russian translation)

any possible way to start this file without the 2017 entry draft completed? so start with 36 teams at the beginning of the 2016-2017 season?

Re: Project NHL 36 - a 2017-18 DB with 36 Team NHL/AHL/ECHL!
My question is... running one of the AHL squads after season 1. I go to say a overager in say OHL and hes 21 about to leave OHL and yet he doesnt want to sign with a AHL squad. any player in real life coming out of CHL or even CIS would sing a AHL contract but yet i cant get no overager to sign with my AHL squad. really ive only gotten 2 out of prob 20-30 that i have tried to sign
ALso I auto simmed season 1.. Removed all of the players from my 5 expansion teams so that it would be like a new expansion team all over again instead of 5 NHL teams being full by left over UFAs. Anyways since May after my auto sim, I am now in August, I have taken over as one of their AHL squads. I am finding it very brazer that the NHL team is not signing a single player for the AHL squad so then we will be stuck with a 5-6 player roster again all AHL teams again or is other people not having this same program?

Anybody know a way to get the AI to set the training camp teams up for me without having to go through the training camp menu? My players haven't been able to do any of the scrimmages in training camp as a result and I'm starting to feel like it's causing them to develop slower than usual.

Until the training camp bug is 100% figured out, I've just been loading up on tons of exhibition games in the month before the season - I think that helps.

I think that the training camp crash might be an issue with the start year. Doesn't seem like it's an issue with how the NHL/AHL/ECHL were set up, as the game crashed when I tried to open up the training camp menu for a WHL team as well. It's also listed as a 2016 start date when you select a database for a new game despite being a 2017 start date.
IIRC, the developer updates the game every year to add in the upcoming season as a start date for the databases, so maybe that is the problem?
Update: Just realized that training camp does work in the TBL Beta DB which has a 2017 start date. Really strange how it doesn't work for this DB

Hey, guys, I created new small logos for new 5 teams.
I renamed all teams to Quebec Buzzards, Saskatoon Thrashers (and logo si ex Atlanta Thrashers), Seattle Kraken, Houston Knights and Portland Bestials.
Small logos in nhl.com style:

Training camp bug
I was just wondering how far back do we go in rosters that it doesn't have the training camp bug? Roster 9.0?
