IIRC, we're reporting the estimated average club salary - not the total. Which would put kennec at 36 035 000 rather than 39 475 000 - putting him just over the TBL budget by $35,000. :)

I'm concentrating on shipping out McCabe and either Kaberle or Kubina. Hopefully I can get an RW and a D-man in exchange. It's just proving hard to find takers for them ](*,)
In my go around with the Leafs, I've found I got better return on the younger players (Wellwood, Stajan, Steen, et al.) than I have with the overpaid superstar D-men. I got most of the key players for my new Leafs squad in deals not involving the big names. McCabe, Kaberle and Kubina were all dealt for either picks/prospects packages or more cost effective, lower pairing d-men. My new superstars were aqcuired with the Leafs own 'prospects' and the picks garnered from dealing away all of JFJ's hard work. :)

i take the penalty for the 35k if needed. i couldnt get rid of them and i needed the players on the rooster in the begining before i was able to trade away all junk players and the big cap hitting defence mens.

There's no penalty for being 35k over the limit. You're allowed to be 1m over :)

I don't know if I'd call that a mistake. I've used Michalek on several teams I've played before and he always turns out to be top notch. Just looking at his ability attributes, he might not look like a star but he usually puts up pretty good points. I think it's his speed and his stickhandling.

Michalek is very good if you need a goal scorer, Wellwood is way better as a playmaker, thus it depends on what your needs were/are.
I was always trying to get O'Sullivan in my other non-challenge careers, but never succeeded.

Yikes! I've had trouble getting Michalek for Wellwood and a couple of decent youngsters. They're just not interested! So you traded him for O'Sullivan? I had O'Sullivan on my team in the LA Kings challenge and I didn't like him much. It's probably because he's not my type of player though.

the o sullivan trade i added alot of stuff. ALOT.i had alot of draft picks and prospects to use after i trimmed all fat on the rooster.

i have had o sullivan in other games and he realy rocked for me with la kings.he devlp to an star right winger later on but for me now in toronto he fills the role as second line winger with guerin as mentor in the line.

Well, I've just submitted my stats from the first block of 20 games. I think my team did pretty well. I made most of my deals during the pre-season but there were a few that I wasn't able to work out until late October thru mid November. I think I've finally got the team I want to go with (unless I see some serious problems). I was also able to get my payroll well under the TBL budget! I'm sitting at $32.2M! Not too shabby! Best of all? Mats Sundin is the only remaining member of the Maple Leafs team that I inherited that is still on the roster (save a couple of younger guys who are down on the farm and haven't been dealt yet).

Knocking a couple million off Sundin's salary would be sweet! I was actually ready to trade him right at the start of the season (because of his age and salary) but he wouldn't waive his NTC. I might try it a little later. I don't know if he'll go for it though. He's the league's #1 scorer and we're the best team in the league. Why would he want to leave? I even had a fitting replacement coming in return. Oh well! Sundin just missed a game due to injury and I saw how much the team missed him. Thank goodness it was just one game!

Even though I detest the Leafs, I'm joining this challenge. It's been too long since I played the game.

I suppose the number of wins is the only relevant stat that needs to be included within the 61-82 report ?

Ummm... all of the stats that the sheet asks for are really relevant. It all gets calculated when they're figuring out the challenge standings. Or are you talking about playoff wins? That's the only playoff stat that gets recorded.

Yes I meant playoff stats :)

I simply forgot to include that, it should say "...only relevant playoff stat that needs..."

This may be a silly question, but under what circustances will a player agree to waive his NTC in-game? I would love to offload Sundin and actually get something for him...

Make him upset or change his status to 'not needed'.

Criticize him twice and he'll request a trade.

However I'm not sure you'd get much for him, I made Recchi waive his NTC once and he became a one star rated player and I got a 5th rounder for him.
