I am spitting up coke on my computer. That is funnier than Brian Allen. Bye bye softies like Tanguay and idjits like Hamrlik. Hello guys like Stepanie Matteau, Jason York.

But on the other hand...Calgary may go insane for the first oh 20 or 30 games. And go like 28-2 before Iginla and "the Keenanator" have their first row, and Keenan demands Sutter trades him, and the inside battle for control of the GM office begins. [yoda]Oh..so fun to watch that would be [/yoda]

Sounds like the Flames will miss the playoffs next year if this deal goes ahead  I'd like to see Sutter back behind the bench. He's the man for the Flames IMO.

Hey Guys...Keenan won the Cup with the Rangers back in .....don't remember. i will forget this game 7 an the matteau ot-goal against the devils... :dunno:

BTW:
Just saw a Poll at THN about who is the top 2007 UFA
THN
J-S Giguere 35%
Chris Drury 23%
Ryan Smyth 15%
Daniel Briere 14%
Scott Gomez 7%
Sheldon Souray6%

Some Readers must have missed the playoffs this year, where Gomez was by far the best Player on a not so hot Devils Team. I hope he re-signs with the devs.

Weirdos! Giggy first when there is fairly good chance he'll resign with Anaheim. All the others we got some doubt (or serious doubts) about resigning... Stanley Cup winner overating??

We all know some people do not understand the game. And goalies when they have success all get overrated...

My top FA's from list above, which I am sure people will not agree with in many cases. In the following order I would want these guys--the last 2 I would not sign. Cause they want too much money for what they can provide in the playoffs.

1. Chris Drury
2. Scott Gomez
3. Ryan Smyth
4. JS Giguere
5. Daniel Briere
Tied with Danny---Sheldon Souray

Drury is the consumate team guy...will do anything. Gomez is a great skilled player and will get big $ offers. What needs to be said about Captain Canada? Giggy performs well in the playoffs...Briere does NOT. Souray...you all know I think he is way overrated by many.

Wow, the Bruins have sacked head coach Dave Lewis. Hopefully the new coach will give Kessel some more ice time.

Hm..I am not sure if I am surprised by this. He was not doing the job, that is for sure but Boston usually sticks behind their guys. Who will be going there now?

WOW! This one surprised me! After their horrible season ended, Chiarelli said that the coaches weren't going to be replaced. He said that there was a learning process, that the coaches needed to re-evaluate things and take a different approach, blah-blah-blah. Of course, this is great news to Bruins fans. I think Chia finally fell to pressure from the fans and ownership.

Let's just hope they bring in a coach that can A: coach the new NHL style of game, B: work well with younger players and not give all the ice-time to older players with less talent, and C: inspire the team. B was one of the major issues I had with Lewis. Because Chia was trying to work with his coach's mindset and what kind of team he was trying to put out, first he traded away Jurcina for practically nothing. Lewis kept sitting Jurcina in favor of older guys that really weren't that good. So Chia (and I don't take away his responsibility in this, he should put his put down at that point) traded away Jurcina for a 4th round pick rather than see him rotting on the vine. Then almost the same scenario went down with Boyes. He wasn't a Dave Lewis guy, so he got shuttled off to St. Louis for Wideman, an offensive defenseman with very questionable defensive skills. The Bruins already have a young offensive defenseman in the organization with a much brighter upside in Matt Lashoff. They weren't trading Boyes away to fill a need in the organization. They were dumping his because he didn't fit the Dave Lewis mold. Again, Chia is at fault for letting this happen but the Dave Lewis regime is a big part of it.

 There I go ranting! Anyhow, don't let the door hit you in the rear on the way out, Dave!

B72: I hate to say this, but Dave Lewis and regime do not go in the same sentence, unless you are saying Dave Lewis's moustache was a regime all on its own.

LOL! I wasn't going to go for the easy Hitler joke. The saw a funny post on the hfboards with a picture of Lewis and a couple captions below. If you lived the the New England area back in the 80's the Dunkin Donuts "Time to make the donuts" caption is a riot!

The post is about half way down the page.

Sadly, I used to work at Tim Hortons (in high school, which uh, really wasn't that long ago...) and that's what I'd say every day on my way out the door. "Time to make the donuts!" Love it. 8-)

On topic:
I totally agree with B72, Boyes was a horrible player to move. I think he's got loads of potential. Plus, he plays a delicious winger on a line with my precious Marleau! ;)

New rule: CatchUp is not allowed to say anything about Patrick Marleau ever again, in any forum...including Stats Recording. Which means no more trades for Marleau.

And I can do that cause I GOTS THE MOD POWER!!! :-D

I loves the donuts!!!

Poor Dave, what makes him think that moustache looks good?

Anyway, apparently him and Habscheid(assistant coach also fired) will be getting other jobs in the Boston org. Wonder if it is the same job Jiri Bubla did for a few years for Vancouver after he got out of prison for drugs?

LOL! You and your precious Marleau! Actually, I've got Boyes playing on Lecavalier's wing in my current game. He was on Roy's wing until Zherdev went out injured.

So did you guys have Dunkin Donuts up there or did you see the commercials? Or was the "Time to make the donuts" just a coincidence? The Dunkin Donuts commercials revolved around a guy with balding head and a mustache that might remind you of an older Dave Lewis if he packed on some weight. At the time, each Dunkin Donuts location made their own donuts fresh on location every day, several times a day. In the commercials the guy would be constantly leaving home to go back to work to make the donuts.

Ah-ha! I found one of them on YouTube. If anything thinks this has gone way off-topic, it can be moved to the YouTube time-wasting thread. I'm putting it here for now because it relates to the whole Dave Lewis thing.

Time to make the donuts!

I remember seeing the commercials on TV. I grew up very close to the border with Michigan and that's where I would have seen them I guess. I don't think we have dunkin donuts in Canada. Do we? lol.

And as for this no M****** thing, I can deal with that. Never again will I speak that name on these boards. You heard it right here. :-)

Wait, except for reporting the rest of my Leafs season 2. Or do I have to trade him? :-o lol.

Trade him. We had one Dunkin Donuts here, not sure if it is still. When it first arrived people would drive for 1 1/2 hours to get a box to take to their office, then a 1 1/2 hour drive back.

But this is way off topic....smacks B72, CatchUp, and batdad upside the head. Ow. That hurt! Must not do that again.

How to get back on topic? Come on NHL guys do something.

Jacques Martin is saying Belfour may be back in Florida this year, and there are also rumours that Martin Gerber may end up there. Florida is weird.

Random thought...not sure why it popped into my head:

Pat Burns...New Jersey or Boston?

He has said he is feeling better and is ready to get back into the game. I think he heads to the Devils, but would a return to Boston be a stretch?

I'm glad to see Samsonov out the door - the fact that we got ANYTHING for him is a plus. After all, he was on waivers - lest we forget. :) Cullimore bought out is sweet - he had no business being a Hab. As for Tony, maybe he'll play some 4th line, or not. ;)

I'm honestly just happy to have the 3.5 of the books for next year. 8-)

And Burnsy would look good in Beantown for sure. But I'd personally rather see him with the Devs and not in the NE division.

I would absolutely LOVE to see Pat Burns return to Boston! He was one of my favorites Bruins coaches, which is funny because I used to hate him when he was coaching the Habs. I like his attitude and the way he goes about things. Really, I'm just happy that the guy is healthy enough to get back to doing what he loves. No matter where he ends up coaching, I'm glad to see him back. It's always nice to see someone beat cancer.

As for the Montreal - Chicago trade... I guess both teams got rid of guys they didn't want. For Minty's sake, I hope Samsonov isn't a floater in Chicago. Maybe he'll be able to find his old magic?

I'd be willing to bet that Samsonov magically rekindles his offensive ability playing with Toews or Havlat while being treated like the star he wants to be. As long as Savard uses him how HE wants to be used - all will be fine. ;)

Oh just a note to JFJ: Don't sign Cullimore.
