We've had enough coaches lately, thanks. We don't need to change them again!
Did you hear about Jason Blake?

He's got Leukemia. Fortunately, the story says he's not in any immediate danger and he's getting treatment. All the best to Blake and his family. You hate to see anyone stricken with this sort of thing.

What I read from a Finnish source, the type of leukemia Blake has, is not the worst kind, and although he's receiving treatment for it, he is expected to live a full, long, healthy life.
So no panic there, thank goodness

Heard alot of good stuff about this guy, not sure if he'd make a good hockey coach though...batdad wrote:they should have another coach: Jesus.

I know his knee is bad. He wore a brace last night, because it was "tweaked" in the Calgary game. He says it his not bothering him
However...no way was it him. He was not perfect...But when Bieksa and Mitchell look like total pylons, and Naslund, Shannon, Morrison, kesler, Raymond, Pyatt, Ohlund, Miller...Bah you get the point.
Just about any team would have done that to the Canucks last night. That is the worst they have played since Steve Moore day. And that is saying alot.
No way the Flyers are that great..they are better...but not that good. The Canucks just stunk it up real bad.
(However---Richards??? Unreal!!

In net it sure does.
An interesting fact I forgot to post yesterday...you all prolly know it now.
1. Ken Dryden--1st NHL regular season game - a win vs Pittsburgh
2. Patrick Roy-1985, Oct 10 (same day) a reg season win vs Pitt in Mellon Arena
3. Carey Price-2007, Oct 10 a reg season win vs Pitt in Mellon Arena
No pressure Carey. And odd, but for the first time in about 25 years there is a Hab I like. and am hoping has a long steady career.
note: Jackknife77...For some reason I accidentally read your post as "THE FUHR LOOKS GREAT"...and could not figure out what the heck a Hab fan would post about Fuhr for when he had the interesting fact I just posted out there waiting for him.

All hail batdad! TBL's grumpy fortune teller.batdad wrote:Bob Hartley will be fired by middle of November unless they get it going soon
Bob Hartley FIRED - TSN link...
Also, who didn't see this coming? Kovalev complains about coaching - TSN link... I tell you what, if I was wearing Bob Gainey's pants, I'd be looking for a swap partner. The last thing the Habs need is Kovalev griping about the coaching all year again. It obvious they are not going to fire Guy - so trade Kovy! It's a personality clash and it will tear the room apart again if it's not dealt with on the hustle. Let's see, who is lacking in scoring, has a spare top line winger and is preferably not in the Eastern conference...Flemmes? Who wants to see Kovalev for Tanguay?

Thanks CatchUp. I knew I made that call in writing somewhere. I just could not recall where.
Kovalev? Whining? Nah, never. He did not say it, he was misquoted. Again.
And...honestly if by the end of January Montreal is not in a playoff spot...gainey may axe Carbs just to save his job. Hartley in Montreal anyone? (not going to happen)
Kovalev will not fetch Tanguay. Maybe Sopel and Samsonov...but not Tanguay.

Five games in and the Flyers are looking good. It is nice to finally see a team in Philly that can keep up with the rest of the NHL. Now that Clarke is gone we don't have 250lb defensmen, and power forwards who skate slower then my grandmother. I know they can't keep this pace up all year but it is nice to have a team that you can watch and enjoy.

Amish Country in the hizzy!
Anyway...
.... I'm really liking this Flyers team. I'm especially happy now that I don't get nervous every time the opponent takes a shot on us. When Esche was still around, I never knew what mode he was in - his brilliant shot-robbing mode, or his Swiss cheese mode. With both "Gaston" and Niitty, I'm pretty confident.
Anyway...

Kovalev for Tanguay? No way!!!
Flames are built to be a hard-working team, so there's no way for lazy Kovalev to come in Calgary! At least i hope so
Flyers are doing a really good job so far. After their pathetic last season, it's nice to see them back on track. The Blues are also making a lot of progress. Kariya is certainly no stranger to that, but it seems that the whole team is going on the right way.

Shadd-If there is one guy in the NHL the old Kovalev will return for...it is that dufus in Calgary. However, I don't think even he would do Kovi-Tanguay.
Kovi-Huselius yes..but not Kovi-Tanguay.
Oh and just food for thought: Pat Quinn to Atlanta? As both coach and GM. Hmm....Formerly played in Atlanta, knows his stuff. Hmm...

Milan Lucic has a killer fight in the Bruins' hope opener last night. It's going to be hard for them to send this kid back to the Giants. He's quickly becoming a fan favorite!

Yeah, I was interested in him when they first drafted him and then as time went on I saw more and more what this kid could turn out to be. He's a good player but what I like most is HOW he plays. He's got fire! He's a 19 year kid that's really helping to set the tone on a team full of older players. He's bringing passion for the game and intensity. It's rubbing off. Plus, the Boston fans love players like him. It's a match made in heaven!
I'm actually cautiously optimistic that the Bruins might've found their identity. I like the way they've been playing. It's fun to watch and it's winning games.
