Re: 1974 db - Mario Lemieux as an 8 year old
Yeah, I meant in the game. There probably is a way to make it work, depending on how you spread the players out, I'll look at the affiliations later and try to make a sensible listnino33 wrote:Are you talking in-game? When I say 42 teams of historical minor pro players, I mean IRL in 1974 there were 30 pro teams (NHL+WHA) and in 1974 there were 42 minor pro teams (AHL+CHL+IHL+NAHL+SHL).....it's from these 42 teams that I created the AHL/CHL historical players (I've now removed the IRL shared affiliations in many cases, but it's still 42 teams of players)Moses Doughty wrote: there are 68 minor league teams if I counted right
So I may have 68 minor pro teams in EHM, but I only have 42 teams worth of players to populate EHM with...ideally if I could I'd edit the Leagues/Teams so I didn't have the "extra" teams, but that's not an option...so the point is I have an extra 26 "available teams" (with empty rosters at start-up) that at some point I'll get to choosing/connecting affilaitions for
It's just a matter of connecting teams (i.e. give all NHL teams at least 2 affiliations, connect AHL/CHL teams to ECHL teams too)...it's not a problem/issue, and if no one has any suggestions I will get to it eventually!

I see you've started to look into european leagues...
Here are the name changes for the Swedish top league (Div.1 in 74-75,Elitserien since 75-76)
With the first name being 74-75 and the second default db
Modo AIK - MODO hockey
Västra Frölunda IF - Västra Frölunda HC
Björklövens IF Umeå - IF Björklöven
Also beware of the Swedish spelling. The default roster has the correct one. Hockeydb does not
I am trying to find out what teams played in Division 2 in 74-75. The system changed in 1975 so itis hard to find info but I have sent an e-mail to a very knowledgable guy

Re: 1974 db - Mario Lemieux as an 8 year old
FYI
I haven't decided yet what to do with really young European/Russian players (pre Bantam age)...
I've created and populated 5 new minor hockey (amateur) leagues in EHM of future North American NHLers...Mite, Tyke, Novice, Atom, and PeeWee gets me from players age 1 at start-up up to players age 13 at start-up...now I'm wondering what to do with Europeans/Russians who are age 1-13 at start-up
I wonder if I'll have to create European/Russian minor hockey (amateur) leagues to have the historical Europeans/Russians play Junior/Pro hockey in their home country...if I put them in an already created NA league, will they leave for Europe/Russia for Junior when it's time to?
Ideally I'd like to eventually create a "EuroRussian League" for each age division (like maybe U17 and U13 and U9 and U5 leagues), and have teams from Sweden/Finland/Russia/Czech Republic-Slovakia in each individual age division...but I don't think EHM allows me to do this, does it?...Can I create an "international" league? Where multiple minor/amateur hockey "national teams" play each other? On the Club Competitions tab in the PreGame Editor, I have to select a single "Nation" for my league when creating it...what would I select for an international league?

P.S. For the 1974 db I think I'd really like to edit/limit the number of Foreigners in the Elite Leagues of Europe/Russia, but I don't know how (I wish there was a step-by-step guide for hex editing it, like the one I used to unretire NHL numbers)

I didn't know if you wanted me to change the AHL affiliations so I did nothing there. I did give every team 1 CHL and 1 ECHL affiliation though. Tried to base it off of location, though there are odd ones in the ECHL. For the 4 teams in the CHL that had their own team, I put them in pairs for the ECHL.

That's good, as AHL and all but two of the CHL are done and I'm not really looking to go back and change them (sorry if this wasn't clear earlier)Moses Doughty wrote:I didn't know if you wanted me to change the AHL affiliations so I did nothing there
Team/Division changes have seemingly been the apparent "source" of pretty much all of my editing issues over the last couple years, and thus I HATE dealing with them...I've got the editing for all the previously listed affiliations (NHL to AHL + NHL to CHL) 100% done! Including testing! So IMO a lot of the work on affiliations is done...
What I need to do now is
- give the two CHL teams NHL affiliations
- give the 24 ECHL teams NHL affiliations
- give the AHL/CHL teams ECHL affiliations
Thanks! I'll take a look at what you've come up with for the ECHL...

Not only that. You also need to set up leagues for them upto 17. The existing european junior leagues in the default db are set as thisnino33 wrote:FYI

Russia - Under 17 only (needs an U20 league)
Sweden - Under 20
Finland - Under 21
Czech Rep. - Under 20
Slovakian - Under 20
Germany - Under 20
Switzerland - Under 21
Most Europeans are set with low adaptability rates, right. That would really hinder them if they're to play abroadnino33 wrote:I wonder if I'll have to create European/Russian minor hockey (amateur) leagues to have the historical Europeans/Russians play Junior/Pro hockey in their home country...if I put them in an already created NA league, will they leave for Europe/Russia for Junior when it's time to?

Re: 1974 db - Mario Lemieux as an 8 year old
RE AFFILIATIONS
Currently 19 of the 30 NHL teams have a CHL affiliation…for the Winnipeg Jets, Washington Capitals, and San Diego Mariners it’s their Primary Affiliation, and for the other 16 NHL teams their CHL affiliation is their second affiliation – Toronto Maple Leafs, Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Colorado Rockies, Boston Bruins, Philadelphia Flyers, Ottawa Senators, Atlanta Flames, Vancouver Canucks, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota North Stars, California Seals, Calgary Cowboys, Buffalo Sabres, and the St. Louis Blues
Currently only one NHL team has a third (ECHL) affiliation – Vancouver Canucks
IMO consideration should be given to
- Pick 2-4 teams from the 11 NHL teams with no current CHL affiliation, affiliate them with Winston-Salem or Hampton
- Give the Winnipeg Jets, Washington Capitals, and San Diego Mariners an ECHL affiliation (not shared)
- Give the 7-9 NHL teams who don’t have any CHL affiliation at all a ECHL affiliation (not shared)
Then, when this was done, I’d worry about giving additional (third) affiliations…
Regards
P.S. Just so it's know, the current affiliations are basically the IRL affiliations from 1974...all I really did was reduce the number of shared affiliations

i.e the Canucks are affiliated with the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL, and they are affiliated (shared) with the Des Moines Capitols of the CHL, AND the Canucks are affiliated with the Trail Smoke Eaters of the ECHL....so Milwaukee and Des Moines should also be affiliated with Trail in the ECHL! This needs to be done for every NHL team's AHL/CHL affiliates...I think ideally the AHL/CHL teams need their own affiliation/connection to an ECHL team

My contact(a Swedish hockey-reporter that just released a book on Old School Hockey ) came through for me and gave me a list of the teams for 74-75 division 2. There were a lot of them so I am gonna pick the top teams for you to put in the Swedish Allsvenska with the bottom four teams from Division 1 as Elitserien has lesser spots in the game.Manimal wrote:I see you've started to look into european leagues...

These are the top two teams from each Division 2 sub-divisions which together with the bottom four teams from Division 1 makes up the Allsvenska.
IFK Kiruna
Kiruna AIF (one of the Kiruna teams can replace Team Kiruna IF, the other needs to be created as the two teams merged into one)
Hofors IK (Hofors HC in default db)
Heffners/Ortvikens IF (IF Sundsvall Hockey)
Hammarby IF (exist)
Nacka SK (Nacka HK)
Fagersta AIK (exist)
Surahammars IF (exist)
HV71 (exist)
IK Vita Hästen (exist)
BK Bäcken (Bäcken HC)
IF Troja (IF Troja-Ljungby)
I could set up the non-playable Swedish First division, too, if you want to but it will take some more time. Plus list some teams that did not exist in 74.
Team info such as arenas and colours will be harder to find but I love this kind of detective work so I might do something about it someday

FYI I've swapped some teams around in Sweden...
- Luleå HF is now in the Swedish Allsvenskan, AIK is now in the Swedish Elitserien
- IF Malmö Redhawks is now in the Swedish Allsvenskan, Leksands IF is now in the Swedish Elitserien
I did this mainly because I had some already created historical players on AIK/Leksands IF, and I wanted these players in the Elitserien (and it makes sense really, as IRL both AIK and Leksands IF were in Division I in 1974-75 and in the Elitserien in 1975-76)...

I've finished removing all modern players from Major junior (WHL/OHL/QMJHL), and I've removed all modern players from the Elite/Junior Leagues for the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia, Germany, Sweden and Finland...nino33 wrote:JULY 16 - I've now finished removing all modern players from the WHL, OHL, and the Russian Elite League!
